"Best Controller Ever Made in My Opinion" - By Mike Sweeney (Salisbury, MA United States)
Honestly, words cannot say how much more I love this controller compared to the Sixaxis wireless controller for the PS3. I actually got my DualShock 3 imported from Japan back in February and have used it all the time on my PS3. I have only played with the Dual Shock for PS2 and PS1 games though and not PS3 games yet since I only have 2 games that do not support rumble for the system. I can say that the Rumbling feature is 100% the same as the Dual Shock 2 for the PS2!
First off, the weight difference is significant compared to the Sixaxis. You can tell no doubt which controller is which once you pick up both a Sixaxis and Dual Shock 3.
Second, they now have 3 different colors for the controller which is pretty sweet cause now you can buy the controller in Silver, ... full review
"People made better maps back when they still thought the world was flat" - By Sam E. Howard (MN)
I bought this game knowing it would be a redux of MW2, I didn't care as I enjoyed that game. COD has always been a game that I could easily pick up and play for a few hours a couple of times a week. The good news is that this game still runs smooth as butter and has the same smooth controls. The bad news is that the new maps are all garbage (well ok not all of them, but you get the point). Its a total --to borrow a phrase from Fantastic Mr. Fox-- "Clustercuss". The maps are decently sized, but they're also cramped and claustrophobic. Way too many small alleys and corridors that eliminate the ability to get a feel for where the opposition is coming from.
Any indoor/enclosed area is a death trap, apparently in the world of COD there are building laws and building codes ... full review
"This is a nice entry point from someone who wants a PS3 at the end of its hay day." - By Charles Smartt
For serious gaming, a hard drive in addition to the 12GB of memory may be needed as most PS3 games require an install, the side ranging from only megabytes of data up to 10 GB of data. The hard drive is easy to upgrade, although you will need to purchase a mounting bracket for the hard drive (which is not included) (games like Call of Duty or Uncharted won't suffer from this because they don't require installs on disk beyond 100 MB, but Grand Theft Auto 5 has at least an 8 GB install that would easy be two thirds of the available space, and do not forget software updates that can easily be 1 GB in size).
The console makes it easy to set up a PSN account as well as set up Netflix and other streaming services. The top mounting disk tray is particularly interesting: instead of ... full review
I got this about 5 months ago and it has been a good way for me to charge 2 controllers without having to use both of my USB slots on my PS3. One problem this has is that when your controller is plugged in you cant see the lights flashing on the top of the controller. Also when plugging the controller in it doesn't slide right into place. Also the mini-USB input is upside down, but thats just annoying.
"I approve this remote control" - By A. Dent (Minas Anor, GD)
I did not think I needed yet another remote control because I thought the six-axis had everything it needed for movie playing on the PS3 and, yet, I bought one. There were 2 initial reasons:
- my wife was missing a 'magic wand' shaped remote for playing movies - Amazon had it at a great price in one of them lightning deals
I ended up using it myself and, in fact, using it for more than just movie playing - see below.
But, let's do a quick inventory of features:
= It's blue-tooth enabled and, therefore, it's not taking any ports on your PS3. This is probably important for anyone who has a "2-USB ports console". = It's wand-shaped, allowing the non-gamers to control their movie-watching activities while holding a familiar-shaped device in their hand. = It maps ALL the six-axis buttons and performs everything a ... full review
"There's a reason why this game's as popular as it is." - By Armando N. Roman (Hillsboro, OR)
I remember when Minecraft was first created a couple of years ago. Back then, and even up until recently, it didn't look that interesting to me. I'm into all kinds of different games and genres, but Minecraft just didn't pull me in when I'd see gameplay videos. Late last year, my daughter really got into it when she'd visit her friend's house, and not long after, it finally got ported to the ps3, which she immediately used a gift card on. Since then, no other game has gotten as much playtime, and I get to see her creations on an almost daily basis. She'd create dozens of worlds, all with something different and unique from one another, and while I was glad that she was playing a game where you could be so creative, I still wasn't that interested.
Then I started up a file for myself and I ... full review
I bought this game but I wanted to give people a warning that like most games being released nowadays, Battlefield 4 didn't go through the best Q&A session and there is a major glitch.
The campaign is glitched and will reset your save if you stop playing the game and come back to it later. So it seems you may have to do the campaign in one session or else there is a chance of having your last checkpoint lost and start from the beginning again. I checked online and this is a common glitch most people are having. Wait for a patch.
To release a game with that big of a glitch is quite ridiculous. Also for people who don't care about campaign and just want more multiplayer, there are weapons and dog tags that you can get exclusively by playing campaign. So take that for what ... full review
"If you love Marvel + Lego = You're going to love this game!" - By TuanEboi
So far, I've played a few hours of this game, it's pretty AWESOME! The puzzles in the LEGO games are almost always solved by matching the right power to the right problem, and the Marvel take on this mechanic is particularly inventive. Take LEGO Marvel Super Heroes offers an original storyline in which Nick Fury calls upon heroes spanning the Marvel Universe to save Earth from such threats as the vengeance of Loki and the hunger of Galactus, Devourer of the Worlds. Black Widow for example. She, like Invisible Woman, can spoof security cameras, but Widow also has the acrobatic skill of Captain America, which enables her to access remote areas of the levels, and the brains of Tony Stark, which lets her use certain consoles that would be off limits to other heroes. Throw in a gun, and you've got a very useful character made up of ... full review
"PS3 Eye is perfect for a $10 PC WebCam" - By Sarah Brenan (SANTA ANA, CA, US)
I got this PS3 Eye specifically to take it apart and modify it to become an IR only camera to use it with FreeTrack & FaceTrackNoIR (free software that helps you emulate TrackIR). For this purpose, once the camera is modified, it works ...flawlessly. You will NOT regret the purchase, 5 stars just for that.
However, what I was shocked to find, though was how well this also worked as a normal PC Webcam.
Pros:
1. Picture was smooth, probably because the framerate can go up to 120 FPS. 2. Software drivers for various verisons of Windows, including Windows 7. 3. The camera can lower resolution and do a wider angle, which is very nice. 4. Microphone was very nice. 5. Once set up, worked with Skype, OSB for Twitch streaming, about everything I tried.
Cons:
1. Camera only supports up to 640x480 ... full review
Sonic Generations got it right! After having heard all the bad feedback about Sonic games that came after those on the Genesis, I was skeptical about any newer Sonic the Hedgehog game release. I tried out a couple, and I can see where all the negative press was coming from. But a demo of Sonic Generations at a local electronics store changed my mind entirely! After playing it for a few minutes, I knew I wanted it for my game collection.
I'm a big fan of the original Genesis Sonic games, so having Classic Sonic featured in this game was a real treat. But it isn't just the plain side-to-side platform it used to be. While Classic Sonic's parts ARE more "flat", there are still times when the landscape will pan out, or switch directions, giving old Zones we're used to seeing a fresh, exciting spin!
