I purchased the GHD IV Pure Styler in Dec. 2009 from Amazon directly not a second party seller. I tried to register this on the official GHD website. The date code was not recognized - a sign that this may be counterfeit. I contacted Amazon through an email and received a very quick response. They immediately sent another styler and a label for the return of the first GHD styler. I received the replacement GHD IV Pure Styler in 2 days with high hopes. Unfortunately, the date code for the replacement was not recognized either. I had emailed GHD in both instances and had not heard back from them. After 3 phone messages and multiple attempts, I finally got a hold of a customer service representative from GHD. I was told that Amazon.com USA is NOT an authorized seller of GHD products and could NOT be registered. With the high level of counterfeits, GHD cannot authenticate the styler at this time. If you do not buy from an authorized seller/retailer GHD will assume that the GHD styler you purchased is a counterfeit and will NOT register the styler or honor the warranty. Only Amazon.com UK is an authorized seller. Confusing, I know. There are other authorized online retailers. A complete list can be heard by calling the customer service number.

I just got off the phone with an Amazon.com representative. They were very apologetic and unaware of this issue. I was sent another email with a authorized return and shipping label. I wanted Amazon to be aware of GHD's policy and the fact that the GHD products they are selling are being treated as counterfeits by GHD.

So I guess the bottom line is buyer beware. I hope this helps someone else. I read all of the reviews and was wrongly assured that Amazon.com was an authorized retailer.

I bought this flat iron from the amazon dealer here because they are suppose to be a certified dealer of ghd flat irons. I recieved my flat iron today and it looked nice like the real ones but there was no hologram on the flat iron with the serial number that ALL ghd irons will have. It also did not have the proper hologram around the cord it was just a generic picture that you see on most plugs. Any ways it was a counterfeit iron and amazon is going to issue a full refund. If you are thinking of buying just keep this in mind. It might be genuine, but they will offer a full refund if its not.

I just got it today and im very satisfied with it. it is authentic because i contacted GHD to confirm that amazon is an official stockist.

I chose the white one because its not a very common color in hair straighteners. Pink and Blank can be seen everywhere else. The Box is the size of a shoebox, or even bigger and it came with 2 booklets and the Instructional DVD. Watching it wont waste your time.

it has the reset button for the plug and less than 30 seconds, it beeped in a weird unexpected way and started flashing the LED to announce that its ready for me to use. It gave me 15 more minutes to do everything else since it cut my straightening time in half. Thank you GHD and AMAZON. =)

I did the research between CHI, this and other flat irons, and decided to purchase this one off Amazon, saving me money from the Sephora store price. I use it every morning. It takes just a couple minutes to straighten, flip or curl my hair. It's an amazing little machine. Auto shut-off gives me piece of mind because sometimes I can be forgetful. The iron gets very hot, so I use some Biosilk to protect my hair. I've had no damage.

I have been a professional stylist for 4 years GHD is hands down the best. It straitens waves and curls! The pure looks great in all white, but beware the case that comes with it turns the cord blue/black.

The first is my hairdresser!) I love it!!! I don't know how harmful it's to hair, but I don't think that blow dryer or any other iron will do better job in less time and effort!

I love my new straightener! It cut my styling time from about 20-25 minutes to 10-15 max. The first day I used it, it only took me 6 minutes to do my normal styling routine. I recommend this product to every woman who has ever straightened her hair.

Very good tool! Easy to use and very fast to heat up and get the job done! My hair look like done by hair stylist everytime I use it! I love it!! And Amazon is the best place to get it! good price and good service!

There are lots of professional flat irons but I preferred this one
because i travel a lot and this has a dual voltage, and i could not find any other decent one comes with a dual voltage. Even tough it comes only with one heat, i think it is not very important. This stuff is very delicate and i think if you change the heat all the time, heat will never be stable and machine can get easily broken and yet you will always need this heat to style your hair, i don't know why you would want to change the heat all the time. Styling your hair with heat is always bad for your hair, so that's the risk you take.
One important note: You will always need a blow dry with a professional dryer unless you have a straight hair..If you have wavy or curly hair you will need to blow dry first with a professional dryer and then style with this 5 minutes..
The best thing about it you are not stuck with very sleek style which i do not like, you can create more volumes by using your creativity..
This thing is 270 plus tax in sephora and it is so much cheaper here, actually i bought mine to 189, now it went up :( And i registered my GHD on GHD website and got confirmation e-mail, Amazon is authorized dealer..

I will only use ghd hair straighteners because they are the only ones that make my course, curly hair straight without completely damaging it. I can also make my curls more uniformed and smooth using the straightener, as well as do other styles, such as a more chic dread lock look. the first one i received didn't work, but i was able to return the faulty one and receive a new straightener after a few days that worked perfectly! very happy with the purchase.
