Each glowstick is in its own foil pouch. Most colors are very bright for 2 hours, and fade to dim over another 8 hours. At 8 hours, you could read a couple of lines of text in the dark, or mark something on a dark, moonless night. They're dead after about 15 hours, with only the faintest glow left.

The light output during the brightest time is REALLY strong, especially for the blue based colors (white, blue, purple).

These come with a short, nylon ribbon and have a loop and a plastic clip on the end for securing.

The plastic seems a little soft, but an hour of spinning at high speed on short (2 foot) or long (4 foot) lanyards, free air or impacting hard surfaces, and the strings did not cut in, nor did the seal break.

The price of this brand is very competitive.

I'm very satisfied with these glow sticks.

Bought these to orient directional drilling tools at night and they are AWESOME!!! Pretty funny when you show up on a drilling rig floor with a pink light. Great fun for everyone.
48 light sticks for $25 is really a good buy.

We bought these light sticks for my daughter who loves to have these when we spend time outside at night. They are individually wrapped and come with the signature red string to use as a lanyard. The various colors are all bright and vibrant.

I purchased these sticks to hand out with candy on Halloween because we live on the dark part of the block. It is so great to see the kids running down the street with their little glow-sticks. Even the big kids were coming by our house & many parents thanked us for our thoughtfulness.

These sticks provide hours of fun for kids and at this price point are a great reward for a job - or day - well done by our five year old. And, they make a good night light so I can find our tyke under the covers.

As for educational value, that's not the specific point although I do consider learning about light sabers and Star Wars lore educational.

And, my husband using them for diving.

I love these things. No idea why there is a star value for educational value, but they are great fun to play with. I did have one break open on me though, but aside from a mark on my (already dirty) shirt that collected 'playa', it was pretty cool to have my hands glow.

If you need a bunch of light sticks, get these.
