Life-Changing Book!,
By Jesse "Jessica Lowery" (Ohio, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The goodness of God (Tyndale Paperbacks) (Paperback)
This book has helped me to develop my own convictions on topics which are uncomfortable and easy to ignore (i.e. judgment, curses, politics, ethics) It is a fantastic book and I highly recommend it!

Clear Exposition,
This review is from: The goodness of God (Tyndale Paperbacks) (Paperback)
This book is heavy on scripture references, and Wenham does not shy away from the "difficult" portions of the Bible. Matter of fact, he embraces them, and urges us to embrace them for the same reasons he does! He masterfully shows how God works man's evil into his own good, how the Bible's apparently "archaic" and "barbaric" ways of dealing with things are actually very good indeed. Please don't take my word for it; read the book.Table of Contents: Introduction: A Good God? 1 A Series of Stumbling-blocks 2 Hell 3 Some Inadequate Solutions 4 Good Features in an Ugly World: Freedom and Its Cost 5 Good Features in an Ugly World: Beneficent Retribution 6 Good Features in an Ugly World: Apparent Evils, Real Blessings 7 Sub-standard Saints and Imperfect Laws? 8 The Abominations of the Heathen 9 Cursings 10 The God with Whom We Have to Do Additional Study: The Doctrine of the Good God Additional Note: Evil in the World of Nature |
