    Village Shoes Shipping Policies

VillageShoes ships via United Parcel Service and Fedex service to any United States address to which the UPS and Fedex service delivers (no Post Office boxes) free of charge. Air delivery is also available but for an extra charge. Keep in mind there is no transit time for UPS or Fedex during weekends and holidays.

We will make every effort to ship your order within one to three business days from our stock. While we stock a significant inventory to support both our retail store and our Internet customers, occasionally stock conditions require us to Special Order a size or color to fulfill your order. We therefore request that you allow approximately three weeks for delivery of your orders. In most cases, this will not be necessary, but we do appreciate your patience.

    INTERNATIONAL ORDERS

We use Fedex International to ship to selected countries overseas. Shipping charges are $25 for Canada and $35 for all other countries for the first pair and $10 for each additional pair. For Puerto Rico and Guam, we use USPS Priority Mail and charge $15 for the first pair and $10 for each additional pair. These freight charges do not include any customs brokerage fees. Keep in mind that there will be extra duties and tariffs imposed and collected by your country for all international orders. Please check with your specific country's customs for import restrictions and costs before you place your order. By placing your order with VillageShoes.com, you agree to pay all customs duties and VAT imposed by your respective country. Because we are a commercial vendor, we are unable to declare any item as gift.

Before placing your order with us, please be advised that international returns are expensive. In addition, VillageShoes.com can refund you only for the merchandise returned. We cannot refund your tax, duty, and Customs fees that were paid at the time of delivery. To obtain a refund of these fees, please contact your local Customs office.

Sales tax is not separately calculated and collected in connection with items ordered from Village Shoes through the Amazon.com Site unless explicitly indicated as such in the ordering process. Items ordered from Village Shoes may be subject to tax in certain states, based on the state to which the order is shipped. If an item is subject to sales tax, in accordance with state tax laws, the tax is generally calculated on the total selling price of each individual item, including shipping and handling charges, gift-wrap charges and other service charges, less any applicable discounts. If tax is separately calculated and collected in connection with items ordered from Village Shoes through the Amazon.com Site, the tax amounts that appear during the ordering process are estimated - the actual taxes that will be charged to your credit card will be calculated at the time your order is processed and will appear in your order confirmation notification.

  • Top of Page Sizing and Fitting Tips

Shoe fitting is a very personal experience, and therefore all the advice and technical expertise we can provide is only as good as the shoes feel on your own feet! The most important judge of how well a shoe fits is you - when you are wearing them. Nonetheless, there are some basics we'd like to impart to you, as a guide to selecting proper-fitting footwear. There are no two feet exactly alike (not even clones!), and that includes your two feet! Feet vary even on the same person, usually slightly in length, width or girth (the measurement of volume, or "circumference" of the foot). Therefore, in order to obtain a good fit, it is always a good idea to measure both feet, not just one. Even so, determining a size for yourself from a measurement is not always a definitive answer to what size you may need in a particular shoe. Shoe manufacturers make shoes on forms called lasts, and each of these varies in proportions and measurements enough so that not every size 10 fits like every other. Let's face it: work boots are a significantly different shape than patent leather dancing shoes, but both may come in "your size." It's almost impossible, because of different browsers and browser versions, to provide a proper measuring device for you to perhaps print out and use. Shoe sizes bear no official relationship to the standard units of measure such as inches or millimeters. Remember, too, that if you have a particularly comfortable pair of shoes, you can usually find the size in them, under the tongue, in the heel lining, or imprinted on the bottom. Or perhaps you still have the box! Every footwear manufacturer uses different lasts and subsequently different size conversions.† In any case, refer to our return policy for details on returning shoes that you purchase from us that do not fit! We know that we haven't discussed width here yet. That's because width is proportional to length. That is, a medium in a men's size 7 is much narrower/smaller than a medium in a men's size 12! Width is truly a "judgment call," as it is a measurement of not only size across the†† base of the foot, but of the girth of the foot as well (see the description of girth above in this article), and there is no truly accurate measure that determines width and girth. A very subjective means of determining width is this: a fleshier foot should usually be fit with a medium to wider width; a bonier foot usually is a medium to narrower fit.
