    About Unique Photo, Inc.

    Bernard and Harriet Sweetwood were driven by the American Dream. Determined and hardworking, they opened a small photographic supply outlet in Brooklyn in 1947. Soon after, they opened over 20 retail outlets in department stores across New Jersey and then the Hoboken Camera Center in the 1950s. In time, Unique Photo became one of the largest privately owned photographic supply distributors in the world. Unique Photo is no longer a small Brooklyn storefront; we are NJ's Only Camera & Video Superstore. Our Superstore stocks over 20,000 brand name products from manufacturers such as Canon, Epson, Fujifilm, Leica, Lexar, Manfrotto, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony, Westcott and many more. Some of these products include digital cameras, consumer and professional video cameras, bags, cases, frames, photo albums, print kits, lighting and studio products, film, darkroom supplies, and many more. Our facility here in Fairfield, NJ was conceived by Jonathan and Matthew Sweetwood, CEO and President respectively, who took over the daily operations in the 1980’s. Alexander Sweetwood, V.P. Operations and Purchasing, became the third generation to join the company and he recently graduated with an MBA from Montclair State University. While Unique Photo is a modern company, constantly on the cutting edge, we have never forgotten our roots. By running a family owned business, the Sweetwood’s have maintained the fundamental values that have kept Unique Photo at the forefront of the industry.

    Unique Photo, Inc. Shipping Policies

    Unless otherwise specified, all goods will be shipped by UPS or USPS surface freight, pre-paid and charges added to the invoice. All domestic freight charges are invoiced at prevailing rates plus insurance. The customer may specify alternate shipping (e.g., Expedited, etc), at time of order for additional charge. 

    Free Shipping: Unique Photo is pleased to be able to offer free shipping on select items. Please note that Free Shipping promotions apply only to orders shipping to a street address within the contiguous United States. Otherwise, shipping charges will be presented at time of check out. For Returns on orders where free shipping had been given, applicable shipping charges will be deducted from any refund. The only exception to this practice would be if the return was due to an error on the part of Unique Photo, Inc. 

    Damage and Shortage: Any and all damage or shortage claims must be reported to us within two business days of receipt. Claims beyond this time frame cannot be honored. If a package arrives damaged, or items missing, please message us or call 1-800-631-0300 and speak to a live customer service representative who will assist in rectifying the situation. 


    Outside of the US: Please pay careful attention to the rules and duty regulations in Canada and other countries. Unique Photo cannot estimate your duty, nor brokerage fees, if you are outside of the United States and is not responsible for any extra cost incurred.
    For export orders outside of the United States, Unique Photo is not responsible for local custom regulations or charges. Please check with your local customs office to determine if duty will be added to your order. All goods shipped within the United States are duty free.

    Any change to your UPS shipment can only be authorized by Unique Photo. Please contact Unique Photo if you need to make any change to your delivery.

    Unique Photo, Inc. Tax Information

    Sales tax is not separately calculated and collected in connection with items ordered from Unique Photo, Inc. through the Amazon.com Site unless explicitly indicated as such in the ordering process. Items ordered from Unique Photo, Inc. may be subject to tax in certain states, based on the state to which the order is shipped. If an item is subject to sales tax, in accordance with state tax laws, the tax is generally calculated on the total selling price of each individual item, including shipping and handling charges, gift-wrap charges and other service charges, less any applicable discounts. If tax is separately calculated and collected in connection with items ordered from Unique Photo, Inc. through the Amazon.com Site, the tax amounts that appear during the ordering process are estimated - the actual taxes that will be charged to your credit card will be calculated at the time your order is processed and will appear in your order confirmation notification.

    Returns and Refunds


    All returns will be allowed only with prior authorization. 

    Returns: We must be notified by within 14 days of receipt of merchandise and the original carton must be saved. All merchandise must be returned within 14 days of authorization, freight prepaid. After 14 days any problems with equipment should be reported directly to the manufacturer. Please send items back to us using an insurable method. Returns will only be accepted with a valid return authorization number issued by our return department.

    No returns will be allowed on products which are outdated, opened, damaged, or otherwise not salable. No returns will be allowed on books, batteries, or storage media, and sensitized products such as control strips, film, or paper. 

    Non-Returnable Items: Lenses with purchase price greater than $699; PocketWizard, Leica, Zeiss Products; Microphones; Consumable items such as film, paper, chemistry, bulbs, CDs, DVDs, tapes, memory cards, opened software, etc.; Items that show wear or have been damaged or abused; Items with counters showing more than 200 activations; Items with timers showing more than 60 minutes of use.

    No returns on hardware will be allowed without unused warranty card and without manufacturer original packaging materials. All warranty cards, manuals, outer cartons, boxes, must be in original condition. No returns will be allowed if these items are taped, ripped, marked, or otherwise altered. Unique Photo is not responsible for merchandise damaged by customer misuse or failure to properly follow instructions in the supplied product manual. Materials that are sent back that fail to meet our posted policy are subject to a restocking fee of up to 50% of the original selling price.

    Damage and Shortage: Any and all damage or shortage claims must be reported to us within two business days of receipt. Claims beyond this point cannot be honored. If a package arrives damaged, or missing items, please message us or call 1-800-631-0300 and speak to a live customer service representative who will assist in rectifying the situation.

    Refund of Shipping charges and Free Shipping: Shipping charges are not refundable. In instances of returns on orders that were given free shipping, applicable shipping charges will be deducted from any refund. Shipping charges are not refundable for any order which is returned due to an undeliverable address, or after three failed attempts made by the carrier. The exception to this policy would be if a return is the direct result from an error made on the part of Unique Photo. 

    Refunds: Returned merchandise will be credited to your original payment method after inspection and approval. Unique Photo makes every effort to see that Returned Goods are credited as quickly as possible. Credits are usually issued within one business day, and and notification will be sent once complete. Please allow up to five business days from this point for the funds to post back to the original payment method. Any shortages or damages must be reported within 2 days and original cartons saved. 

    Used Products we are Selling:  Unique Photo is pleased to be able to offer Used merchandise for sale at a discounted price to anyone who may be interested. Please note that on items labeled Used, the condition of the product is rated fairly and to the best of our ability. For items received in a condition less that expected, we would ask that we be contacted within two days of receipt, and we will gladly authorize your return request. Not all original accessories are necessarily included with Used items. For specific detail regarding an item, please contact us prior to purchase, and we would be happy to assist with any information available. As we are constantly updating our Used listings, the best way to have any questions addressed would be by contacting our customer service department at 800-631-0300. We do not have access to shutter counts. Please note that Unique Photo offers a 90 day Warranty against manufacturing defect on all Used items we are selling. For Warranty Service, please send (in an insured and traceable method) the item, along with your original sales receipt, daytime contact information, and description of the issue to:
