I think this game should be recalled. There are too many issues to list but a couple are: extremely slow load times, too many areas in game where disk needs to load, bad point of view on characters (meaning you can't see where the character is going because the screenshot is showing an area that is of no importance), maneuverability of characters is terrible. I have never written a review of a product but hopefully this will save people money and they will buy a different game.

While the CGI for the crossover scenes between levels are decent (not that great but ok), the graphics during the game play is dissapointing. The basic game play is aweful too. I found myself dying not because of being killed by a villain but rather from me falling off some cliff (or rather) due to bad camera angles. It's not fun when you don't have a reason to die and yet you do. If you want to be frustrated for hours, then get it. Or else, save your money and buy a better game.

This game is, in a nutshell, unfinished. The core of the game is flawed because not enough time was spent on programming. The long load times are not an exaggeration, go to youtube and search for sonic load times. The video's are not doctored, it will really take 5 minutes to do a mission which requires 1 minute of play. And the worst part is many of these glitches and load times could have been fixed. Easily. So shame on you SEGA for trying to deceive your fans by calling this beta version a completed game. THATS NO GOOD!

I bought this game for me my son and nepheuw since they whip it up playing Sonic on their DSI's, so even at the ages of 6 and almost 8, I thought they would be able to play this game fairly easy. They have both allready beaten the Lego Star Wars and Batman games, and various DSI games, so good little gamers they are! Unfortunatly, this has been the only game I have bought them to where they was so excited to play it, but after a couple attempts playing, it now just sits on the shelf. The graphics and story of this game are very nice but the controlls are just so very sketchy and the checkpoints are just to far and few bewtween, and that left them playing the same levels over and over until they got to frustrated. I had taken over playing the game to get them to the next levels and as an old-school long time gamer I even had trouble here and there, especially with the shaky, sketchy controlls to where i got bored myself. So for now, on the shelf it sits, unfortunatly.

I went into this game expecting the worst of the worst, after all, this is the most universally hated Sonic game. Still, I found it cheap and decided to give it a try anyways. As a whole this game reminds me of the first Sonic Adventure; the way it's structured, the story, some of the levels all seem pretty similar. There's no drastic gameplay changes with different characters despite the game having many; a serious improvement over Sonic Adventure. Silver may have psychokinesis and Shadow may have vehicles, but the levels still work as a Sonic level should and there's no treasure hunting, fishing, or anything of that sort.
The level design I must say is generally great! Far from being linear, there's almost always multiple routes to take which rewards exploration. The levels themselves are also mostly interesting designs; some feeling like throwbacks while others refreshing like the awesome post-apocalyptic Crisis City.
My biggest point of contention with the game lies in the hub worlds. While I liked the atmosphere that they gave in Sonic Adventure, too often in this game you were forced to do little side challenges. The challenges themselves weren't too bad but the load times here are terrible! I really don't understand why there's a loading screen for one line of dialogue followed by an additional load screen for the challenge itself! Honestly, at least in the PS3 version this was the only time the loading times were really noticeable and bothered me and it's what brought the game down most for me.
As far as glitches go, I know this game is full of them but in normal gameplay, and I did finish the entire game, I didn't really encounter any. I did however exploit one glitch I read about to get past Silver's desert puzzle as I found it a little too challenging. As I replayed levels I did encounter that going through the loop glitch in Wave Ocean, but only after a few tries of getting it to happen. I don't know if they fixed any glitches for the PS3 version, but I just didn't seem to run into many.
I know most people hated the mach speed sections and I can see why as they're pretty unforgiving, but I found them exciting and not too challenging, especially when I realized I could use the light dash on trails of rings to stay on course.
In the end, I see this game's flaws but I still find it enjoyable despite them. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the first Sonic Adventure. At the price it goes for nowadays, I think it's worth it.

I wish I had rented it, cause it is ALWAYS loading, you spend at least 70% of the time waiting for it to load. Not only that but often times you don't actually play/control sonic during the game. I bought this game because of the good times I had with dreamcast, all honest, this one is a #@*!% of ...

I have to say, that when I first put this game in my PS3 that my disappointment was immediate. The graphics, for what one would expect on the PS3 are very underwhelming. After playing games like Call of Duty 3 and seeing some of what PS3 is capable of, it is very disappointing to see PS2 level (at best) graphics in a game that costs the same as Call of Duty 3. The initial levels are boring and dull and do not suck you into the game at all. The initial cut scene is beautiful and gets your hopes up only to dash them moments later. PS2 games like God of War had MUCH better graphics. I am very disappointed so far with what Sony, Sega, and other software firms have offered for PS3. After screwing up the launch, I thought for sure that they would be looking to gain back some momentum by releasing strong, graphically beautiful titles that harness the power of the machine, but not so far, at least not with Sonic the Hedgehog. I recommend you skip this one, at least until the price comes down a lot.

When I saw this game pretty cheap at Target, I thought hey that oughta be fun! Turns out, it is the opposite of fun. Bad Control, bizarre camera angles (one moment, you are running or jumping straight ahead, the next moment, you are flying 90 degrees off into oblivion because the camera just changed..) LOOOONG load screens like every 5 seconds (brought on by the fact than you will DIE every 5 seconds through no fault of your own). It is just generally awful. Buy this for your worst enemymaybebut not for anyone you care remotely about.

Sega really flopped on this one. I treid playing it for a few hours..the camera angles, yes you can adjust them..but as soon as you start running again, they resume their same terrible view point. This is the biggest waste of my money...Don't buy it!
