Just wanted to alert everyone that my as-yet unpublished novel, Gun to the Head is one of Amazon's ABNA semi-finalists
Amazon.com: Gun to the Head - Official ABNA Entrant: Books: Genie Davis It's a surfer-noir, a thriller with noir overtones, a redemption novel with thriller overtones, or as one reviewer has already described it "a surfer romance." You be the judge - read me and rate me! Here's a brief capsule of what it's about: Seriously injured in an accident, surfing pro Frank Sparks joins a jewelry store heist, still hoping to catch a perfect wave. But between double crosses, lost love, and the inescapable bond of family ties, he's heading for a wipe out. Just FYI this first chapter excerpt does not include the prologue, and if any of you are interested in seeing that too, just drop me a line. Hope you enjoy what you read - there are alot of great ABNA entrants out there - AND that you're enjoying better weather than I am - rain, rain, rain - Genie Happy New Year and...

Hello to all my readers out there! May you have a wonderful New Year filled with exploration, excitement, gratitude and peace. I think that covers all the bases!
News on new books coming soon... And again, Happy New Year! Genie Almost Summer...and some news...
10:52 AM PDT, May 2, 2007
This year is just racing by, and it's hard to believe it's almost summer (and time for some beach reading, so please remember one of my books in your beach bag!)
This past weekend found me signing Five O'Clock Shadow at the LA Times Book Fair on the UCLA campus, it was such a pleasure to meet some past readers and to be a part of the Sisters in Crime booth along with book seller booths - I hope you'll agree that my books work both as romances and as mysteries! Meanwhile, my erotic-romance alter-ego, Nikki Alton, is a finalist in the Romance Writers of America Passionate Plume contest...for Rodeo Man, a part of The Cowboy anthology. I'll keep everyone apraised of new books in the pipeline as soon as I know what's going to be flowing forth from the publishing world first - and in the meantime - HAPPY SUMMER. Genie HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

Read a book you love, share your love of a book with a friend, read a book aloud to those you love.
And I hope you'll enjoy Five O'Clock Shadow - Genie Just in time for Valentine's Day

Five O'Clock Shadow will be released...I'm delighted to say that Romantic Times gave this one four and a half stars... it's another fun, sexy mystery/suspense.
Why not order a copy along with The Model Man - winner of the Road to Romance Reviewer's Choice Award last June... The covers - one pink, one maroon, are certainly MADE for Valentine's Day. Here's a little more from RT, Booklist, and Two Lips Reviews (my earliest reviewers...) on Five O'Clock Shadow Romantic Times - A thoroughly engaging heroine whose witty, first-person voice and palpable love of music make this novel terrific. Davis gives all her characters strong dialogue, unique personality traits and an amusing, offbeat plot to work their way through. But Jessie's narrative is especially delightful. The song references are great fun and in keeping with the heroine's point of view, while her relationship with the hero is steamy but with an underlying tenderness that makes their love scenes compelling. Summary: Thirty-year-old indie-rock DJ Jessie Adams runs for city council in an attempt to help a friend, but she doesn't expect danger to strike on the campaign trail. She also doesn't expect to fall for the hot-as-sin police detective on the case -- a man with whom she shares an uncanny sexual chemistry and who's as different from her "type" as Louis Armstrong is from AC/DC. While the self-assured Chuck Jackson can't and won't defend the inexplicable attraction between himself and Jessie, he's as puzzled as she is by their similar way of thinking (the "Vulcan mind-meld," as he puts it), their mutual adoration for pizza and Star Trek, and the way he's openly rearranging his life to include this new woman. Can a love between opposites work out long term, or will the sizzling passion between them burn out as quickly as it began? (ZEBRA, Feb., 320 pp., $4.99) HOT Booklist - Jessie Adams is a DJ in the small community of Playa Vista near Los Angeles. She's got her job, her apartment, her cats, and not much else. When redevelopment threatens her best friend's club, Jessie succumbs to her pleas and runs for city council. Shortly after, she is literally knocked off her feet by a large, handsome man. Chuck turns out to be a policeman, and suddenly Jessie's life is full of excitement, kookiness, and danger. Davis' romance is fun and entertaining with a real man's man as the romantic lead. Two Lips Reviews Genie Davis is a new name to me and I was quite impressed with this book. She painted a really vibrant picture both of the music scene and setting in this quite visual story. I enjoyed seeing the events unfold from Jessie's eyes and the romance plot was well paced and never completely overshadowed by the danger. Genie Davis is an author I'll be watching in the future! Five O'Clock Shadow is coming

My new romantic suspense, Five O'Clock Shadow is coming in February from Kensington Zebra. Like The Model Man this is a fun, very sexy read with lots of mystery and romance and an edgy setting. You can pre-order it now for Christmas...and if you're looking for last minute stocking stuffers, don't forget The Model Man for your friends and family...even Mrs. Giggles liked it, and if you ever read her blog and website, you know she's hard to please. It's still available and still only $3.99! And, if you're buying for Xmas, drop me a line at genie@geniedavis.com and I'll gladly send a signed label/book mark for your giftee. I don't know that 'giftee' is an actual word, but since popular culture is busily turning the word gift into a verb, I 'm thinking that gives me permission to come up with my own use.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone - I'm very thankful for readers like you! Genie My secret is out...

Back at the Blog again...
It's been far too long, but there's been two weeks of vacation, plus attendance at this year's RWA writing conference last minute in Atlanta. It seems that many readers want erotic romance. I don't mind complying, and am happy to report that my new anthology in that line, The Cowboy, received a pretty cool review from Fallen Angel Reviews, among others "I'm dazed and feel as if I was on a raging bull barely able to hang on. This story really took me for a loop; pure erotica at its best. If that wasn't enough the intense underlying emotions of two people so in tune with each other's bodies was beautiful to imagine. This is the first story I've read from Nikki Alton but I will definitely place her on my must have list. She is a sure thing with a screaming orgasm on top." Yes, you saw right, Nikki Alton, not Genie Davis. So my secret is out, I have a psuedonym, and you can find more of my work as Nikki Alton's work. Right here on Amazon... And back in the writing of Genie Davis, if you nose around the web a little you'll find Mrs. Giggles - and she's tough to please on her blog- gave a nice thumbs up to The Model Man. which is still waiting to be swept off the shelves and into your fall reading stack (rake it up before you hit the autumn leaves, okay?) I'll have a new romantic suspense, Five O'Clock Shadow coming in February 2007. Meanwhile, maybe you'll want to take a ride with a cowboy... The Model Man - Reviewer's Choice Award Winner

I was very pleased to see that I was selected as one of the winners of the Road to Romance Reviewers Choice Awards -
Please join me in congratulating the following authors on receiving The Road to Romance Reviewers Award! The Reviewers of The Road to Romance have the option of giving this award to several books a year that they consider outstanding. Click on the book title to read the review. June 2006 I trust Road to Romance won't mind me excerpting from the original review here - "....It took me quite a while to write the review for this book. I read this book twice, before writing the review as I wanted to do it justice. Christy is anything but a typical romance heroine. It is a credit to the author's writing skill that she made me not only care about Christy, but actually identify with her. The story is complex, and involved. The premise of a con artist falling in love with a police detective is unusual as well as humorous. There are several laugh-out-loud funny sections, as well as edge-of-your-seat suspense. The secondary characters are unique, and add a great deal to the story. Genie Davis describes the Los Angeles setting in a vivid and striking fashion. The time frame is mid-December as Christmas is approaching and Los Angeles is in the midst of a Santa Ana. She shows the tawdriness under the glitz and glamour. The incongruous use of inflated snowmen, purple tinsel trees and sleds as decorations in eighty-degree weather and gusting winds is only one example of this. Ms. Davis' familiarity with the area shines through each description. I highly recommend this book, and look forward to reading more from this author.
