Hey Folks,
I'm not sure how the best way to communicate this to you guys is...but first, thanks for releasing the Kindle for iPhone app. - huge coup on your part. Secondly, however, where is my desktop pc app.? I just bought my first book and am reading it off my iPhone, but I'd rather be reading it off my desktop...Yes, I could buy it through some other third-party ebook provider (if they offer it), but I want to start building my Kindle library. Can we get even just a basic Windows app. pumped out so we can read on our desktops?
Dave.

Sorry David, there is no pc app. You need to buy a Kindle. It's much better than reading on the computer anyway.

Very nice. Now I have something to test out the Kindle iPhone app. So far it is very good. May even buy a book or two! ;-)

I'd like to second the need for a PC / Mac Reader Application. Would be a nice finisher to go along with my Kindle & iPhone to make sure I can read anywhere I am (I can read a laptop screen in the dark... Can't do that with my Kindle, and the iPhone screen is just too small).

Be warned, these are all first books in trilogies so they are trying to get you hooked! Those shifty, nefarious book pushers are ruining American society!

All kidding aside, these look pretty interesting and I already had Novik's book in my 'I might buy these books later' list so that was an extra nice treat. Thanks for the information and all hail io9!

Of the five "free sci-fi" titles offered only one could be properly labeled SF - and I've already read it - Red Mars. Turtledove's alternate history might be borderline, but the others are fantasy.
At least the price is right and I get to see how Kindle for iPhone compares to Stanza, RU books and the other ebook apps I've been using on iPhone for over a year now. So far it looks good, the Kindle app. Although not a fan of proprietary formats (so what am I doing with an iPhone, right?), I must say it is nice to see the text formated correctly right off the bat - italics, dashes, bold, etc. With the others I often must adjust the encoding when first opening a new book. I would prefer the Kindle app could scroll through the text vertically. Like Stanza, you can slide to the next page, but no scrolling. Kindle app does make good use of iPhones touchscreen and responds quickly. Turning pages is faster than on a Kindle.

I love the iPod Touch app. I have like no cash lately, but I still was reeled in enough by the book Daemon to buy it and flew through it on my iPod in a few days. (Highly recommend the book!) I am glad to have a few more books to read until I find some more I am happy to pay for.

it's annoying to get an email offering a free book by Laura Lippman, but when I click on the link, I can't find the book. Why do you put us through it? Jeez.

Thank you soooo much for making my Kindle books available for iPod Touch. I bought the Touch just for that reason. I have had a Kindle for more than a year and wouldn't live without it but if I forget to bring it or get stuck waiting unexpectedly somewhere, this is a lifesaver. Even my low-tech husband reads his Kindle every day and won't go on trips without it.

Second the comments on Kindle app for the iPhone. I have downloaded a couple of science (not science fiction) and am very happy with them. One of the best things about Kindle books (for iPhone or whatever) is the ability to download the first chapter or some kind of excerpt so one can see if one likes the book or not. And reading books on the iPhone is ok; I read the New York Times and other news sources and Kindle books are just as easy. You can set the font size. The one feature I would like is the ability to read the text in the horizontal as well as vertical orientation.

Click on "free library."

question: In this "free library" offer, I'm confused: Are those books free if downloaded before May 31st? Or just free until May 31st, at which time you're charged if you still have them on your kindle? The offer seems ambiguous as worded and I wanted to make sure that I understood it fully. Thanks for clarifying.
