5.0 out of 5 stars A Clergy Library Must-Have, March 4, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I loved Marcuson's first book, Leaders Who Last. As a church pastor, I find myself frequently returning to it for reference. I eagerly anticipated her new book and it doesn't disappoint in the least. She addresses a topic with which clergy and church leaders struggle. Money. The twist here, which sets Money and Your Ministry apart from the plethora of stewardship books available, is this: The book takes us to the core of our money issues, encouraging pastors and lay leaders to confront and understand their own relationship with money, both now as well as in their families of origin. I've always suspected that if church leadership isn't comfortable w talking about money, then the congregation will always be in an anxious state around finances. Marcuson confirms my suspicion and explains why this is true. I highly recommend this book to any pastor or church leader who wants to take their church's finances and stewardship to a whole new place. Kudos to Marcuson!

5.0 out of 5 stars Victoria Moran is amazing, May 9, 2009
I have read all of Victoria's books, many more than once. Despite the fact that I was eagerly anticipating this latest work, I confess to wondering if there was anything more I could possibly glean from her wisdom bank. I need not have been concerned. Each new essay is like a breath of fresh air and inspiration. I have already incorporated numerous ideas into my daily life and know that there are more to discover in the pieces I've not yet read. The essays are quick reads and a great way to start or end your day. I tend to read one or two before bedtime and then mull over her words before falling asleep, planning how to apply her suggestions to my life the very next day. Victoria continually reminds me of all that is good and how to make the "not-so-good" better. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sherrie Mathieson is brilliant, April 14, 2009
You need to know that I am a major fan of Sherrie Mathieson. I wore out her last book. I have been to a number of her lectures and enjoyed every moment. I even had the good fortune to once have her in my very own closet, separating the good from the not-so-good from the outright awful.

My expectations were high when I learned she had a new book coming out and I was not disappointed. The models are real women of all shapes, sizes, and ages. They look like people you and I know and love. Good people with family to care for and lives to lead. And they look fabulous. Every one of them.

Sherrie not only styles the women but offers comments on important details to note and how those same principles can be applied as you plan your own wardrobe. The photos are so beautiful you'll be tempted to just browse through but please, don't stop there! Take the time to read the text and you'll come out with a whole new level of understanding.

Yes, Sherrie Mathieson is brilliant. Don't overlook this book. And while you're at it, buy her last one as well. You won't be sorry!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous book!, June 3, 2007
I love everything Victoria Moran has written and this book does not disappoint. Victoria has a gift for connecting with her readers, gently nudging them to a better way while still affirming their goodness, just as they already are. From the title, I thought I would probably be interested in only two out of the three sections (Thank goodness I don't feel "Broke") but I was wrong. EVERY section spoke to me and led me to re-think some key approaches to my life. Thank you, Victoria, for yet another gem.
