5.0 out of 5 stars T.A.M.I. SHOW, May 20, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Never thought I see this legit. It's done and sitting on a shelf for at least three years.TWICE it was given a release date, complete with pre-orders and TWICE it was delayed.Well it's out now.Buy it before someone else objects!!!!---Seriously,great show...How the producers managed to get this lineup together,I'll never understand. The BIGGEST acts of 1964,save The Beatles(you know that wasn't gonna happen!),the Dave Clark Five & the Animals.Only big American group missing is the 4 Seasons....

4.0 out of 5 stars Dion & The Belmonts-Together Again & More, March 5, 2010

This review is from: Together Again & More (Audio CD)
I like this alot. This is a welcome reissue of the VERY rare 1967 reunion album by Dion & the Belmonts, originally released on ABC.It is also TOTALLY unauthorized (IE:It's a bootleg). It's mastered off a fairly clean copy of the ABC LP.The bonus tracks, although pretty good tunes, are mastered off of worn out acetates-but unfortunatly, that's likely the only form they exsist. So,a 'must',if you're a fan,but be forewarned about the sound quality...Also-the track listed as "This Goodbye" is actually the Goffin/King "So Goes Love",recorded by the Turtles & the Monkees(although the Monkees version remained unreleased until the early '90s.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Motown:The DVD, December 21, 2009

This review is from: Motown: The DVD (DVD)
If you've bought the other DVDs in the series (Supremes/Temptations/Miracles/Four Tops/Marvin Gaye),you know what to expect here....Some great footage of some of the 'lesser' Motown acts-Marvelettes,David Ruffen,Jimmy Ruffen,Edwin Starr,Brenda Holliway, plus a few Supremes,Temptations,Miracles & Four Tops clips not used on their respective DVDs.And a clip of Stevie Wonder--where's HIS DVD?????----Overall very well done, and as with the other Motown DVDs,there's a number of audio options. The only possible negative comment I can say is the qualitly of some of the clips are noy quite top-notch,but at the same time,as a hard-core collector of vintage music,I know for a fact, that the original masters for some of these clips no longer exsist, and the producers had to work with the best available sources....As for the 'bonus' footage...one of the extras is a homemovie of a Motown picnic.Intresting footage it is,but the narrator(former Motown exec,-the footage is silent)-A)Id's the footage as being from "1970",when it's obviously from 1973/74 B)Mis-identifies a few artists C)Refers to BERRY Gordy,Jr.-repeatly-as BARRY Gordy.

All your favorite tragedy songs on one nifty CD!!!--It should be noted that this disc has the only CD appearence of "Once You Understand" by Think, which was a Top 40 hit in both 1971 & 1974.As well as the 1965 classic "I Want My Baby Back" by Jimmy Cross--the death song to end all death songs!!!!

Overall,a descent overview of his hits--not just the Tijuana Brass era. This disc is notable for being the only CD appearence of his 1969 hit "Without Her",originally on the LP "WARM".

4.0 out of 5 stars SNL-Complete Fourth Season, August 17, 2009
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The '78-'79 Season, the peak of the show, and the last to feature John Belushi & Dan Ackroyd. Some classic stuff here. It's dated a wee bit, maybe not quite as funny as it was 30 years ago,but still great stuff...Let's see if they go further and put out season 5...

In a word-disappointing...ALOT of stuff is left out of the story.--It's OK,but I really don't see why Sam & Dave even warrented their own DVD.The footage is cool, but is nowhere up to the standards of say,the Otis Redding or the Curtis Mayfield/Impressions DVDs.(Nevermind the Motown ones!!!!)--Where's the Issac Hayes and Booker T.& The MGs & Wilson Pickett DVDs???

This review is from: Sealed With a Kiss (Hardcover)
If you're a KISS fan,you MUST own this book.No question.Go & find a copy.Worth every cent.HUNDREDS of full color UNPUBLISHED pictures of Peter Criss, both pre-KISS,and private snapshots during the KISS era.
It's a very good story too.I wasn't expecting much, and with Lydia being Peter Criss' EX,I thought it would be alot more 'trashy',but it's not.You get the sense that she still loves him...It IS honest (it has SOME dirt),and Peter does come off a bit dumb, but if you're a KISS fan,you probally already knew that....

4.0 out of 5 stars Gary Lewis & the Playboys-Complete Liberty Singles, August 17, 2009
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The most complete and best sounding Gary Lewis CD out there. The A & B sides of every single,in MONO-the way they were meant to be heard!--The stereo mixes--for the most part are really weird & off-balance--the exception being the Two-fer of the first two albums, that was remixed from the various 'stage tapes'.-Some of the same mixes appeared on the previously best Gary Lewis CD-EMI Legendary Masters-that one is all stereo.Musically, what can I say? I love this stuff!!!!---Excellent mid 60s pop, played some of the greatest musicians ever!(ie:'The Wrecking Crew').
