5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to apply, hope for quick results, May 2, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
It's still early in the season and have not used this long enough just yet to determine its effectiveness. However, I live in an area that sees occasional snakes (very close to mountains, creeks, and wooded areas). So it does become a nuisance every now and then.

Application is very easy. You apply it around the areas you want to protect, about eight inches wide. The scent is fine, unlike many other similar products. While I do not have pets in my home, we do have neighbors with pets so it's always good to a good neighbor and apply something safe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, strong, and plenty of uses, April 28, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
The Danica Studio Hamper is strong and sturdy. The material is nice and thick, you can feel the quality of the hamper just be the weight of it. While the bottom easily keeps it shape, you can fold the sides down for easy storage.

You could fit a number of clothes in it. It's about the size of a pillow case or a bit more. With the long handles that are just as sturdy as the rest of the hamper, you can easily haul a large, heavy load. While there are many more uses than for dirty clothes, that's what our primary use will be. I really am impressed by the quality of the canvas and overall "built-to-last" materials and construction. Definitely recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Versatile, many great features, April 26, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
The Acer Aspire Switch 12 (SW5-271-64V2) features a unique design and many interesting features. It has the speed, processing, and capacity for most general use computing, including a solid state drive. Overall, there are other similar computers that fit well into this space (detachables, all-in-ones, etc) that might make a better choice for most people. However, the Acer Aspire Switch 12 provides some a different perspective and will likely fill the needs of many users.

First, when unboxing the computer you are presented with the Aspire Switch, the keyboard, power supply (which was had a nice and lengthy cord), and a protective case. Acer often provides a case with their computers, which is a nice touch. It's good enough to protect your new computer, but does not hold the power supply or any accessories. Setting up the computer was simple. After turning it on and going through the login process with a Microsoft account, the computer is ready to use. Five minutes and it was ready to go. I was disappointed to see all of the bloat ware, apps, and links that Acer preinstalled. That is typical of many companies though.

The keyboard locks into place in a very secure manner. In fact, it's really solid, very much like the keyboard mechanism of the Surface devices. It works differently, but is solid in the same way. The hinges are fairly strong, but there is a fair amount of give. That's not much of an issue except in the desktop mode. Using the touchscreen in the desktop mode has a little bit of a bounce. But the overall build is fairly impressive. It's mostly solid (minus the give of the hinges) and the textured grip on the outside is really nice. The keyboard works really well when detached and wireless.

The keyboard is very nice. Plenty of feedback on the keys and it has a quality typing experience. However, in the laptop mode it's really missing a touchpad/trackpad. It has a mouse stick and while some people love them, they just aren't somebody I like. The ability to use the touchscreen makes up for the missing touchpad in some ways, though. If you think about it, the detachable wireless keyboard, multiple modes, and touchscreen really make this a device that can fulfill multiple tasks.

As for processing power, it can handle most daily tasks you throw at it. The solid state drive makes up for the CPU and memory. The CPU is not bad by any means, just don't expect desktop class performance. It can easily handle Office, email, web browsing, and light gaming. Perfect for students, home users, and those on the go. By no means is it a powerhouse, but it's not meant to be. The display is nice, the touchscreen is responsive. The overall performance meets or exceeds my expectations for this type of device. The weight of the device is on average, but a little bit heavy when used as a tablet. In all other modes, it's great.

So, should you get the Acer Aspire Switch 12? Well, if you are considering an ultrabook, tablet, or a device comparable to the Microsoft Surface line, I'd say you have a touch choice. Those looking strictly for an ultrabook likely won't go for the Switch. If you are looking at a Surface (2 or 3 or Pro), I'd say go for the Surface as the build quality is almost unmatched the pricing is about the same except for the higher end Pro models. If you are looking for real versatility, then you should definitely give the switch consideration. For me, I'm really considering having it setup in the desktop mode the majority of the time (it's actually a nice replacement for an all-in-one even though it is smaller). It can be easily moved from workplace to workplace or taken on trips.

Overall, I'm impressed with the quality and versatility. If a trackpad/touchpad were added, the hinges were just a bit tighter, then I'd give it five stars. Don't overlook this device though. It is packed with features, a solid state drive, and can do so many things. It's not flashy, but the features combined with the price point make this a strong choice for many users.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plenty of speed and coverage, April 24, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
The Linksys WRT AC1200 Dual-Band Wireless Router offers excellent range, speed, and connectivity. Combined with a simple setup that always has a number of advanced configurable options, the Linksys AC1200 gets the job done. While the device itself is a bit bulky and obtrusive (they keep designing routers like they are spaceships for some reason), it performs extremely well.

I've had a number of Linksys routers go bad within a couple of years, so I've been using Netgear as of late. However, the AC1200 model might just be the new king. Setup is easy and they keep making it more and more simple with every iteration. It does have WPS so you can easily setup your various devices to connect up to it. The installation wizard was easy to follow and did a good job of offering up most of the basics that are needed for a new Wi-Fi router. Advanced settings can be configured later and it's great to see the administrative of these routers looking better and giving advanced users plenty of options.

In a two story home, this router is providing more than adequate coverage. I'm receiving very good signals all throughout my home with no drops. Speed has also been excellent. It's also great to see USB3 on it for attached storage. Overall, an excellent router.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great unit with added features, April 23, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Having used many different brands and models of air filters and purifiers over the years, I was skeptical of the Honeywell HPA250B True HEPA Allergen Remover. Not because I doubted it's filtering abilities, but because it seemed gimmicky with the Bluetooth capabilities. However, the Honeywell HPA250B is a worthy product in the crowded filter/purifier market.

For a large room filter, the device itself doesn't take up too much room. It's of average size or smaller compared to other products that clean the same amount of living space. The noise level is fairly quiet, although possibly a touch louder than other products at the highest setting. The noise level during most of the general use was excellent though.

The buttons are the more modern type (less feedback and more touch based), which is where most products are headed these days. Controls were easy to figure out though, and operation was very simple overall. The phone app seemed gimmicky at first, but you can do a custom schedule, get filter change reminders, and other info. The allergen auto-set seemed to be very good, with the filter adjusting its operation based on conditions of the area you specify in the app. However, I have not used it for an extended period of time and across multiple seasons yet. The app was easy to use. It disconnected on occasion, but was easy to get going again and was a nice feature that you don't typically find on air purifiers and filters.

Overall, a great unit that produces results at a low noise level and that has some added features to set it apart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Use & Works As Advertised, April 22, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Ortho's Bug B Gon Insect Killer for Lawns is simple and easy to apply and it gets the job done. Having used many Ortho products in the past, including other Bug B Gon products, I was happy to see this concentrated liquid work just as well.

Simply hook up to your hose and start applying. For larger yards, multiple bottles might be needed or you might want to consider granules. The mechanism that connected to the hose appeared to be strong, unlike other bottles like this I've used that broke or leaked with relative ease. This formula last up to three months, at which time you can reapply in the same easy fashion.

Overall, it's easy to use and it works as advertised.

Philips Wake-UP Light with Radio, Black
Philips Wake-UP Light with Radio, Black
Price: $90.14

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice design, missing a few features, but definitely worth a try, April 20, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
As someone that is a heavy sleeper and a habitual snooze button addict, I had my doubts about the Philips Wake-UP Light with Radio. The design is somewhat unusual, it's more modern, but it will definitely raise some questions when people see it. Functionality and overall use is quick and easy to learn. For light sleepers, there is not doubt this will work. For heavy sleepers, I think it depends on your routine, room light, and overall sleeping routine.

The gentle increase of light is great (I tested it out while awake and asleep). It really does slowly increase and turns to a very nice, room-filling light. The light can also be used as a general light on your nightstand. The alarms sounds are good, but I would still like to see a more normal beeping type of sound (I realize that defeats the purpose of a more gentle solution like this, but some people would prefer it). It could still be a gradual increase of sound. The natural sounds are nice, but there are only two, and at this price point I think a few more would be warranted. For myself, I found that the sounds and gradual increase of light woke me up most of the time, but not all the time. I let a lighter sleeper borrow the clock and they found that it woke them up very well. If you are a heavy sleeper that rotates in bed and might be facing any direction or buried in the pillows (yes, I know this is sad) you might get mixed results. I'd say their claim of 9 out of 10 users found that is work is likely accurate.

The controls are nice, but being more touch oriented, the buttons can be hard to distinguish. A battery backup, again, at this price point is expected. In fact, it's pretty much expected in every alarm clock, but is not included.

Overall, this is a nice alarm clock and it offers a nice, gentle way to wake up. Some people might have mixed results, but for the most part I'm sure it will work the majority of users. There are a few features that would add to its benefit, but for those wishing to have a new waking up experience, this would still be a nice unit to try.

Sterling Silver Diamond Butterfly Pendant Necklace (1/10 cttw, I-J Color, I2-I3 Clarity), 18"
Sterling Silver Diamond Butterfly Pendant Necklace (1/10 cttw, I-J Color, I2-I3 Clarity), 18"
Price: $80.07

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice design, April 15, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This Sterling Silver Diamond Butterfly Pendant necklace has a nice design with a relatively small diamond setting, making it a nice piece of jewelry at a reasonable price. The butterfly is approximately an inch across, so the piece is certainly noticeable.

The sterling silver has a very nice, polished look that shines and catches the light very well. The diamonds are not super clear, but offer some contrast to the rest of the piece. The diamonds are a bit larger at top and get a little smaller down the line. The design and flow of the butterfly is very nice. The lines are very smooth and it makes for a piece of jewelry, especially for everyday wear.

The chain itself is fairly standard and while there are no complaints about it, the packaging was less than to be desired. It was extremely tangled when the box was opened. Only a small piece of fabric was instead to protect the jewelry, so it bounced around and got tangled up. That's a relatively small issue though. Overall, this is a nice piece of jewelry for a starter, a small gift, or everyday wearing.

Preen Garden Weed Preventer Plus Plant Food

5.0 out of 5 stars Prevent weeds and feed your plants, April 11, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Excellent weed preventing with the added benefit of plant food. As someone that has used Preen's weed preventer in the past, I can attest to it's wondrous powers. But seriously, it works extremely well. Apply it early and then again in three months and you'll be weed free through summer and fall. If you live in areas with extended seasons or warm weather, just keep applying every three months.

Application is super easy. I usually like to do it when cleaning up the yard in early spring and applying new mulch, etc. Keep in mind that this is weed preventer. It's not meant to kill existing weeds, it's supposed to prevent new weeds before they start.

Now, this is the first time I've used Preen that also includes plant food. So I'm excited to see how well that works, unfortunately, I won't be able to post the results in just thirty days. I have high hopes though, as Preen has become a brand that I know and trust and have been using for years now.

Philips 452391 65 Watt Equivalent LED BR30 SlimStyle Dimmable Soft White Frustration Free, 2-Pack
Philips 452391 65 Watt Equivalent LED BR30 SlimStyle Dimmable Soft White Frustration Free, 2-Pack
Price: $29.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Dimmable, good color, wide output, March 30, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
The Philips 452391 Slimstyle LED Bulb is a perfect replacement for indoor traditional BR30 light bulbs. The output is very good, you can hardly tell that it's LED versus other types. The coverage is excellent and the light beam is fairly wide.

Once installed in a recessed can, it looks like any other bulb. With its wide beam, it fills a room nicely, especially when you have a few recessed lights. The color is fairly average, on the soft white side of lighting, but not hardly as warm as traditional bulbs. It's close though. I'd recommend changing all of the recessed lights in a room for the most even lighting color and coverage. But if that isn't an option, you might be okay.

Combined with the energy savings and dimmable capability, and this is a winner.
