5.0 out of 5 stars "Follow your heart", January 30, 2000
This is another jewel from A. Matthews. Just as in his earlier book "Being Happy" he once again pins down in incredibly simple and humorous form the way life works, and how we can make it work for us.
What I find most amazing and impressive is how Matthews can put so much wisdom and insight into a few sentences. This is a thin book, with lots of his cartoons to make it look almost like a children's book. And yet, if you were to weigh the value for day-to-day life you gain from reading it, it would have to weigh tons. Profound insights that can change your whole perspective on life. And again, so simple. Your heart will feel lighter. A great gift even for those who normally shy away from reading!

This is a neat little book that helps you tap into your spontaneous, creative, expressive side. Capaccione shows how we usually are dominated by rationality, logic, straight-lined thinking, and how we neglect the wise, intuitive, spontaneous parts of us. By asking us to do writing exercises with our "other" hand, she helps us get in touch with our inner child, with excitedness, a sense of discovery. Doing the exercises (and they are small, no big tasks at all) can be quite eye-opening - and thoroughly refreshing for your soul.

In this book, Covey takes on the widely popular time management systems. He shows that simply managing your tasks more efficiently does not make you happier or brings you deep fulfillment. He helps the reader to discover what is really important to them, and to move from being busy getting stuff done to being fulfilled doing meaningful things.
Anybody who feels like something is missing in their life DESPITE their enormously successful career might find this book a wake-up call. A reminder of what really matters, a guide towards greater fulfillment.

This review is from: What We May Be (Paperback)
Anyone who feels they'd like to develop their own wholeness further, who'd like to delve into a realm of peace and calm within, might find this book very helpful. The book gives many many very diverse meditation and visualization exercises. It is great even for the beginner, since it starts with very simple, and yet suprisingly so effective little exercises.
The book is also an introduction to Psychosynthesis, a guide for enhancing psychological and spiritual growth. It is a philosophy of self-actualization and the art of living. The basic premise is, that we need to combine all the split-off or repressed parts within us into a harmonious whole to feel fully alive and free. In easy chapters, the different concepts are introduced to the reader. Definitely worthwhile reading!

4.0 out of 5 stars "Your Sixth Sense", January 30, 2000
This book is for anyone who wants to develop a deeper and keener sense of intuiton. What I like about this is that the author seems to be a very down-to-earth person, who's done her research and has a very solid, grounded approach to this subject. It's a fun book for those who want to know more about how to discover and exercise their sixth sense.

This review is from: The Aladdin Factor (Paperback)
Ever heard of "Ask and you shall receive?" Canfield and Hansen illustrate beautifully that this principle really works in all areas of our life - if we are willing to ask. So many times, we don't even try, we think it's impossible, we give up too soon. The principles of how to do the art of asking are interspersed with inspiring examples from real life people.
From the contents:
- The Five Barriers to Asking: Why we don't ask for what we want - Knowing how to ask, who to ask, what to ask for - Ask at home, at work, at school, the world, yourself, a higher power
After reading this book, I boldly asked where I would have been silent before. It is amazing how much you can create for yourself if you're willing to ask for it. I liked this a lot!

4.0 out of 5 stars "Type Talk: The 16 personality types that determine how we l, January 30, 2000
If your interest got hooked in the temperament differences, here is another very useful book on this subject. It is using the same basic four opposite temperament pairs as we are introducing them to you in our series.
Kroeger then explains in detail how, depending on your preference, you and your loved ones act and react in certain situations at work, at home, in love.  It is quite funny to read his examples from everyday situations between husband and wife, boss and employee, etc. These arguments between the different types are so easy to relate to, we've all been there.
This book will further deepen your understanding of the types and give you tips on how to avoid misunderstandings and better relate to others.

Keirsey's explanation of the different temperaments was a real eye-opener for me. Finally I understand why people get upset with certain of my character traits, and why I always felt so misunderstood by some people. It was a big relief to know that after all, I'm "normal", and so are the others. Where there used to be resentment on my or the others' part, we now knowingly smile at each other, saying "ah, there shows your J again, can't help it, can you?"
Keirsey introduces us to four basic opposite tendencies in temperament, then describes the temperaments, and applies this to the areas of relationships, work, children, and learning.
The book starts with a questionnaire that you can take to determine your type. I would strongly advise not to just read the part about your own type, though. The real aha effect comes when you read about the others, too. You won't even need everyone to take the test, you'll know just by what you've read what types you're dealing with. It's fun to realize our differences and see them in a new light.

Seldom has a book, or an author, had such an impact on me as this one. Branden shows so clearly how we can achieve self-worth, self-acceptance,and it opens our eyes on how we stand in our own way sometimes. All those hidden patterns are revealed, and suddenly everything seems so clear! I highly recommend this book to anyone who's ready for finding their inner confidence, peace and calm.
