Spider-Girl Presents The Buzz & Darkdevil (Spider-Man, Daredevil)
Spider-Girl Presents The Buzz & Darkdevil (Spider-Man, Daredevil)
by Tom Defalco
Edition: Paperback
27 used & new from $0.97

2.0 out of 5 stars Spider-Girl Spin Offs, March 27, 2015
If you have read the Spider-Girl comics, then you are probably familiar with The Buzz and Darkdevil. However these are characters that pop up every once in a while in the Spider-Girl comics and they are usually just supporting characters when they do. So giving them their own comics was an interesting experiment, however it was an experiment that didn't work out very well.

These characters just aren't very interesting. Sure they are trying to stop villains from doing dastardly deeds that will effect the world in a terrible way, but they just don't have that special something that Spider-Girl has that made her love her comics. The only reason I can see someone would want to own these comics would be if they are a huge Spider-Girl fan and want to complete their collection because they are loosely related to her story.

You can skp this one.

Genshiken: Second Season 5
Genshiken: Second Season 5

I've mentioned before how much I love Genshiken because it's a slice of life manga that is about a bunch of college otaku/nerds hanging out and talking about their hobbies. But the series is starting to move away from that and is become pretty much all about Hato's cross-dressing and his odd attraction to Madarame, and those are becoming topics I'm just sick of the characters discussing.

The good parts of this book include Ohno's uncertainty about her future career aspects, Madarame and Saki being alone in the club room and him finally confessing how he feels to her, and Tanaka pretty much confessing to Ohno that he wants to marry her. The rest of the book seems to just be filler.

I did wonder where Suzie was during this whole book. They do mention that she is missing and wonder where she is but then drop the subject, and then she shows up briefly at the end and then runs off like she is terrified that Madarame was there.

This series used to be excellent and something that I loved, but now it's just become a shadow of it's former self.

Juliet Dove, Queen of Love: A Magic Shop Book
Juliet Dove, Queen of Love: A Magic Shop Book
by Bruce Coville
Edition: Paperback
Price: $6.99

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Coville's best work, March 25, 2015
This book is the final one in the "Magic Shop," series, and frankly it was disappointing.

It's about a supposedly shy girl, who isn't really shy because she has no problems talking to anyone or expressing her opinions, who gets an amulet. The amulet has a unique story and it makes any boys around her fall in love with her. The book also has appearances from our favorite librarian, Hyacinth Priest who helps Juliet out and gives her information, and it also has the Greek goddesses in it, Athena, Aphrodite, Hera and Eris.

The story is just kinda boring really. Sure it's got magic and talking animals in it, but it just wasn't as interesting as Dragon Hatcher or The Monster's Ring was to me. You can skip this one.

Spider-Girl Vol. 1: Legacy (Amazing Spider-Man)
Spider-Girl Vol. 1: Legacy (Amazing Spider-Man)
by Tom DeFalco
Edition: Paperback
28 used & new from $8.11

4.0 out of 5 stars Spider-Girl Begins!, March 25, 2015
This is the beginning of the Spider-Girl saga and it's a good origin story. It has the "What If.." issue where she was first introduced and also the first 5 issues of the original comic in it. The best parts are the the origin story where she fough the grandson of the Green Goblin (After he donned his grandfather's costume), and where she fought Venom.

This is a good addition to any Spider-Girl fan's collection and it's got some good stories in it. Check it out!

4.0 out of 5 stars Following in her father's footsteps!, March 25, 2015
I love Spider-Girl! She was my favorite character from the "What If..." series and I loved how Tom Defalco fleshed out this character into her own book and developed the universe she was in.

My favorite part of this volume was when she went back in time and got to interact with Peter Parker and Mary Jane when they were her age.

The only parts of this comic I didn't like were at the beginning of every issue we had an internal monologue where Mayday talked about how her father was the original Spider-Man and she inherited her powers from him and how she has great power and responsibility. That part got a little repetive after a while. Also Darkdevil, he just seemed to put Mayday down over and over again and didn't really add much to the story other than he looking somewhat like the original Daredevil.

I really enjoyed reading this and any fan of Spider-Girl will like it too!

Star Wars: The Jedi Path
Star Wars: The Jedi Path
by Daniel Wallace
Edition: Hardcover
Price: $11.27

4.0 out of 5 stars There is no emotion, there is peace..., March 24, 2015
This was a nice look inside the teachings of the Jedi and shows their evolution over time. I also enjoyed the little comments in the margins of the book that were from different Jedi. A few times it looked like a comments section on a website and that made me chuckle!

The artwork is good and it does look like a training manual that was passed down over the years. I also enjoyed reading about the different types of lightsaber combat and the different forms. I did know some of this from playing Knights of the Old Republic and reading Guide to the Force a few years ago, but it was nice to revisit it.

Any fan of Star Wars will really enjoy this. Check it out!

Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book wasn't what I expected it to be. It's about two brothers, one of which (Kyle) has taken care of the other (Lucas), as they were growing up. The Zombie Apocalypse happens and the able-bodied brother rushes home to help his family. However the real story is in the flashbacks that tell us how Kyle looked out for Lucas and made sure to include him in everything that he did over the years.

If you're looking for a straight up zombie survival story, you may be disappointed, but you will enjoy a story about the love and loyalty between two siblings.

This review is from: The Hungover Games (Unrated) (DVD)
This is a spoof movie that is actually a pretty good one! This film parodies The Hangover, Ted, Hunger Games, Django, The Muppets, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, the Housewives TV shows, Avatar, Thor, the Walking Dead, and Carrie. Also for some reason there were two topless women with large breasts in the movie who didn't do anything other than just have large breasts and show them off. But then again I guess it's to draw guys in because Hollywood thinks that's all men want to watch.

Moving on, it's not a bad movie. It takes the movies you loved a few years back and puts them all into the Hunger Games and lets them kill one another off. I do have to admit that I liked seeing the women from the Housewives shows burn to death. Those women on those shows are so bitchy and petty that you can't help but hate them.

The actors they got to be in this one were actually pretty good and they made the movie interesting. All in all if you like spoof movies, this one is pretty good. Check it out!

30 Nights of Paranormal Activity With the Devil
DVD ~ 30 Nights of Paranormal Activity With Devil Inside

4.0 out of 5 stars I Liked It!, March 21, 2015
This is the first new parody movie that has come out in a long time that I have actually enjoyed.

It was funny, it had characters in it that weren't just walking stereotypes or complete morons, it parodied current movies, and a number of them were actual GOOD movies which was a nice change. It parodied Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Batman, Exorcist, Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter, Paranormal Activity 1-4, and even the reality TV show "The Apprentice."

However I am not sure what the goat or the turkey was from. And the part with the Hunger Games joke was kinda a throw away gag that I felt really didn't belong in this movie. It didn't add anything to the movie other than to remind you that the Hunger Games came out a few years ago.

It's a good parody movie and it doesn't take itself too seriously. If you like these types of movies, you should check it out! :-)

Horrible Bosses 2
Horrible Bosses 2

1.0 out of 5 stars Hated It, March 20, 2015
The first movie was silly and a little quirky, This one was just downright stupid. These characters are so idiotic that there is no way they could have functioned in the jobs that they had in the previous movies. I mean you'd have to TRY to be this stupid! It was so bad that I kept rolling my eyes and sighing and saying, 'Oh come on!" to the point where I said enough is enough and just gave up.

I made it 30 minutes into this movie and that's as far as I could go. And I've sat through some real stinkers in the past, but this one was just unwatchable. Do not waste your time or your money.
