5.0 out of 5 stars More padding, March 4, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This wrap has more padding than older (much older) ones I have. As a result, it is stiffer and bulkier, but of course also more protective than the older ones. This 15 in. will wrap around a wide-angle zoom with the big lens hood reverse-mounted. As with all Domke products, quality of construction is first-rate, and made in America.

4.0 out of 5 stars Canon's strange design, March 4, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Yes, this lens hood is a little fiddly to use, but it's Canon's fault really. Instead of the simple, foolproof no-moving-parts bayonet design on other lens hoods, this one uses two pushbuttons that operate four retractable fingers that grab a circular groove around the front of the lens. It may seem like it's seated, but only one or two of the fingers have grabbed, so it falls off easily. You need to wiggle it a bit to get all four fingers mounted -- there may be a "snap" that sounds disconcerting, as if it's breaking, as the tips of the fingers click over the groove, but if you have the buttons pushed in all the way the fingers will be retracted enough that they won't snap off. I found it easier at first to reverse-mount it, like you would for storage, because you can see when the fingers are reaching the groove that way.

As far as the hood itself, it's fine. Quality is good. It is a slight step below the real Canon (I used to have one on a 100-300 zoom) -- just a little bit thinner plastic, the molding around the buttons just a touch imprecise, which is only cosmetic anyway -- so I'll give it four stars.

1.0 out of 5 stars Expensive, plain-looking pen that doesn't write, February 11, 2012
If you care about the name Montblanc, I guess you won't listen to this. But if you're just looking for a good pen, don't waste your money. Yes, I received one as a gift, from a well-meaning relative. It writes fine, once, then globby a few times, then dries up. I'm sure there's still plenty of ink in the thing, it just won't work long enough to use it. A refill costs three times as much as for other pens, and does the same thing. "Black precious resin" means plastic, and not a particularly distinguished quality of plastic either. I tried to use it for a few months, bought three refills in that time, and decided it wasn't worth it. I'm using a Uniball gel I found in a conference room (like these uni-ball 207 Retractable Micro Point Gel Pens, 12 Blue Ink Pens) that works perfectly all the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars heavy, solid, January 9, 2012
Pay attention when it says "1/2 inch" thickness. It's thick and heavy, and doesn't seem like it will warp or bend. This is a board you leave in place on the counter most of the time (which works for me).

5.0 out of 5 stars worked fine in my MacBook Pro, January 8, 2012

These worked fine in my 2010 MacBook Pro with the Matsushita DVD drive. The box I got say "AZO" and are made in Singapore. They have an "RW" icon on the box but I haven't tried rewriting.

5.0 out of 5 stars great value, January 8, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a great value for the money. It fits tightly -- the main thing I was worried about -- and is sturdy. When reversed on the 50 1.4, it covers almost the entire lens so it offers great protection. Ridiculously inexpensive, hard to go wrong.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap, works, that's it, May 14, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is one of those items where you seem to get luck of the draw as to exactly which specific item you get. Mine is Zeikos, with a round button and elongated connector head. It fits very tightly, no problem with making or keeping a connection, which is one of the more common complaints about these. Slightly worried about the junction between the wire and the unit body, which is a little loose. I guess that's better than breaking off though. Still, seems worth the few bucks it cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Made in USA!, May 14, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'm glad to see Domke is still making their stuff in the USA. This pouch is one of the only ones with fasteners arranged to attach to a bag strap in a vertical position, and also horizontally as on a belt. It has plenty of room for a larger flash unit and some batteries, or a whole mess of batteries, flash cards and accessories. Domke stuff is indestructible.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well, May 14, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Works well, fits tightly, lasts a long time. I took off a star because it does not come with an end cap over the contacts.

4.0 out of 5 stars slight mounting problem, March 1, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I got these lights to use in closets. They work well, if you position them so the light is pointing at your target. The light is a little "beam"-y, doesn't spread out as much as you'd think, but is bright enough. One of mine will not stay stuck to the hook-and-loop pad that sticks it on the wall. The pad stays stuck to the wall, but the light won't stick to it. They also have a screw hole for mounting which is probably easier anyway. The hook-and-loop is so strong that it's tough to remove the light from it to change batteries, but you can just unhook it from the screw easily.
