5.0 out of 5 stars Smoothing The Way For Writers!, November 5, 2010
Once again, Jeff Gerke smooths the way for published and unpublished writers alike. Being mostly a seat-of-the-pants writer, I tend to let the story "flow"--wonderful most times, but sometimes not. Those "not" times are, increasingly, prompting me to more carefully and thoroughly map my story. And with "Plot Versus Character," I have the right tool to accompany me on what can otherwise be a hair-pulling journey.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and stained, October 23, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This product is cheaply made. When received, both sides of the metal disc were covered in peeling plastic film that was yellowed and wrinkled and, when finally removed, left stains on the metal. The wood is flimsy and scraped in places and the white styrofoam (used for shipping) stuck to the wood in places and was nearly impossible to remove. As for the sound--nothing soothing about it. Very tinny and annoying. At best, this might be worth [...]. Certainly not [...].

5.0 out of 5 stars Outside-The-Box Wonderful!, March 19, 2009
If Tomorrow Never Comes is another beautiful, outside-the-box story from Marlo Schalesky. At turns painful and joyful, it was inspiring to see God work in the lives of two people who are so in love and yet so broken by infertility and the shadows of the past. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Painfully Honest Journey of Faith, April 2, 2008
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: One Holy Night (Paperback)
J.M. Hochstetler makes another mark on Christian fiction with ONE HOLY NIGHT, a moving and inspirational tale of family, love, war, prejudice, and heartwrenching loss. Though I'm not usually interested in stories set during the Vietnam war, I quickly became caught up in the lives of Hochstetler's characters and felt their joy, pain, and struggle to either hold tight to their faith or open their heart to God. Warning: The deeper you journey into this painfully honest tale, the more you'll need a ginormous box of tissues close by. Very recommended!

Sushi for One? (The Sushi Series, Book 1)
by Camy Tang

5.0 out of 5 stars What a debut!, August 19, 2007
Camy Tang's SUSHI FOR ONE? made me smile, giggle, and even well up at just the right places. With deft characterization, the author went above and beyond to create a heroine who is not your average "chick lit" gal. By the time I turned the last page, it felt as if I'd known Lex for years. What a debut!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pampered!, August 19, 2007
In a culture that seduces women with $35 one-ounce vials of "miracle" lotions and potions, who would guess that the answer to so many beauty concerns can be found in one's own pantry? And for a fraction of the cost. Powdered milk and oatmeal to wash and exfoliate? Surprisingy effective. Honey to nourish and plump up fine lines? Shockingly NOT sticky. Olive oil to moisturize? Can you say "pampered"? And that's just the beginning. Ginger Garrett not only frees up our credit cards by letting us in on ancient beauty secrets that are sure to hit the cosmetic industry in its collective pocketbook, but backs it up with research. And did I mention the daily devotions? Beauty outside and in!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, July 30, 2007
What do you and your son do while awaiting the fourth installment in Donita K. Paul's "Dragon" series? You read those other dragon tales--you know, the New York Times bestsellers-turned-movies. Something to tide you over. They don't. So you grab the chance to be one of the few who receive an advanced reading copy of "DragonFire". And earn points with your son. In a word, "DragonFire" is "predictable"--in the very best sense of the word! Breakneck pacing. Plot twists aplenty. Spiritual truths that inspire. And a powerful ending that--here we go again--leaves you wanting more.

I meant to pace myself. Really, I did, but Catch a Rising Star turned out to be one of those rare single-sitting reads--a witty, page-turning story of family, friendship, and faith. Oh! And did I mention "romance"? Yep, it's all there!

5.0 out of 5 stars On the upside..., June 8, 2007
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
What an incredible walk through our nation's schools--though only eye-opening because I didn't realize how prevalent my own experiences were among others. How sad that girlhood aggression has been labeled a "culture". On the upside, that ought to give it the attention that such destructive behavior is due. I know, I know, it's been said before: EVERY girl and her mother needs to read this.
