Bloom County Digital Library Vol. 2 (Bloom County- The Complete Library)
Bloom County Digital Library Vol. 2 (Bloom County- The Complete Library)
Price: $7.49

3.0 out of 5 stars Great content, but serious ebook issues, July 6, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
First, the good. These Bloom County strips have been reproduced very well. They look crisp and, as a long time fan, are just as funny as they were when they first appeared in the newspaper.

Now the bad. The pages of this ebook are horizontally shaped, with one strip per page and I viewed this using the Kindle app on my iPad. Where Volume 1 ebook of this series was presented in a forced landscape orientation which was fine), this Volume 2 ebook is now presented in a forced PORTRAIT orientation, with black bars above and below each page! You can now zoom in to magnify the page in Volume 2 (this was missing in Volume 1), but this gets very old, very quickly!

If you have an iPad, can only recommend this ebook for full-sized iPad users with the larger retina screens (not the iPad mini), unless you not mind the extra effort required to zoom in on every page. I am curious is dedicated Kindle readers have this same problem.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic with flaws, March 4, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
George Winston at his finest. The video quality is quite good and the sound quality is excellent. Primarily great piano solos, George also gives us a few unexpected treats of his guitar and harmonica playing. Overall, I recommend this product.

The only reason I subtracted a star is that, throughout the program, they play short separately recorded interviews of George over each of his songs (history of song, why he wrote it, why it's important to him, etc.). I found extremely annoying and distracted from the program. I would have rather seen all the interviews edited into a separate bonus feature instead of laid right on top of the main program.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great portable hook! (Not just for lanterns), September 4, 2014
We love this product and always have a few in our camping box. It works great as a portable lantern hook, but we've used it for all situations where you need to hang something off the ground, such as trash bags, back packs, etc. The wife even confiscated one to use in the backyard to hang her bird feeder.

1.0 out of 5 stars A bigger problem than the "no save" option is..., January 3, 2005
This review is from: Monopoly (CD-ROM)
... When an opponent goes bankrupt, they simply quit the game and don't pay any of their debt to the player that bankrupted them. You get a message that the player simply "resigns" from the game. When this happens all of their property reverts back to being available for sale, all of their cash disappears and the player who bankrupted them gets NOTHING! And, just to clarify, all of the CPU players resign from the game in this manner without paying any of their debt, not just the last one left in the game.

This bug means that you can spend most of your money building hotels and knock out 2 of the 3 CPU players without getting a single dollar back, only to then lose to the last player due to a relatively small rent owed. Considering the whole point of Monopoly, this is an unforgivable bug that completely ruins the game.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware!, November 10, 2004
The packaging falsely states that these are "the classic films". The films being sold in this trilogy are updated versions of the "Special Editions" that were released in 1997, NOT the original theatrical classics as the packaging states. Very deceiving and shameful marketing!

1.0 out of 5 stars Queen never sounded so good, but never looked so BAD!!, February 1, 2003
The 5.1 audio remasters are wonderful. However, for some insane reason the videos have been matted to create a false widescreen presentation for 16:9 TVs. (In other words, they took the original videos created for normal TVs and covered up the tops and bottoms with black bars to make them look widescreen.) By doing this, they have cut off the tops of heads and feet throughout the videos!
The videos in this collection were all created for normal TV broadcasts before widescreen TV even existed. Butchering these classic videos so badly just so they can fill the screen of a new TV format is unforgivable.
If you wanted this collection because you loved these videos when they originally aired years ago, I recommend renting it first to see if you can tolerate the matting. Buyer beware!

1.0 out of 5 stars If you enjoyed "Riverdance", avoid this version at all costs, October 3, 2002
The original "Riverdance - The Show" video is fantastic and is a great example of the correct way to present this incredible union of music and inspired dance. In this second video presentation, only the music is given the treatment it deserves. Sadly, the dancing performances suffer painfully from un-watchable frantic editing and inexcusable camera angles.
This show was filmed at the Radio City Music Hall with many different cameras and the post-production editor seemed determined to use footage from each one as often as possible. During a typical single minute of dance footage, the camera angles may switch up to a dizzying ten times! This horrific visual roller coaster will take you from a tight stage view, back to a mid-audience point of view, further back to a balcony point of view, back up to a tight stage view, swing over to a stage left view, position the main dancer's whole body in view, cut to a view of the orchestra playing, come in close for a very annoying view of the dancers from only the waist up, swing back to a stage right view and zoom in on a few seconds of the dancer's feet. Over and over and over again, often in time with the music, like a crazed artistic MTV music video.
The seemingly never ending angle changes leave the despondent viewer wishing (screaming!) that the camera would just stop moving so the show can be watched. I can only recommend "Riverdance - Live From New York City" to those who only enjoyed the music from the show and have no interest in the dancing. The hyper-active visuals will only leave a bad taste in the mouths (and a loathing of the editor) of those who wanted to watch the phenomenal dance performance. To this latter group, go buy the original "Riverdance - The Show" and you will be much, much happier.
