5.0 out of 5 stars The best whey protein you can get for the price, July 11, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
ON Gold Standard is by far the best choice in whey protein, for just about every reason.

So far the flavors I've tried (chocolate and cookies and cream) have been surprisingly good. Good enough that my female non-exercising friends ask for a sip or two just because they like the flavor.

Of the few powders I've tried, ON Gold Standard mixes the most easily. With a spoon you can actually get it to pretty much fully dissolve into water or milk in less than a minute (some powders take far to long to dissolve, or never fully dissolve and instead just get clumpy and end up making your drink lumpy and chewy.. yuck).

In terms of nutrition, ON has enough protein per serving (24 or 25 grams) with a relatively low calorie count, and not too many carbs. The cholesterol is high, but that's to be expected for a whey powder.

Price-wise, ON Gold Standard is cheaper than most other whey powders, and the cheaper ones usually either aren't as tasty, are harder to dissolve, contain too many calories per serving, or contain less protein per serving.

I started with ON Gold Standard, and after trying other whey powders, and after trying others I've come back to this one. It's by far the best for the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Seems like a decent headset, if you have giant ears and an oddly-shaped head., July 11, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When I pulled this out of the box, it looked great. Smooth lines, glossy finish, quality construction, buttons on the ears for changing the song, play/pause, and volume. Awesome.

Then I tried it on, and that was where the fun stopped. The ear tips are ridiculously large compared to every other ear bud I've tried. Even with the choice of different tips it comes with, they're all about twice the size of a regular tip. After trying to jam each different tip uncomfortably into my ears, I realized that this wasn't going to work out. For the record, regular ear buds fit my ears perfectly, and I've never had a problem with different types of tips (regular tips or double/triple flanged).

It could just be the size and shape of my head (exceedingly average), but these headphones did not 'float' above my neck as described in the manual. They sank onto the back of my neck with even the slightest amount of movement. This makes extra noise, is not comfortable, and pulls the tips out of your ears. With a primary goal of using these for fitness, you'll be sorely disappointed to find out that even a very light jog will be uncomfortable with these.

Other than fitting incredibly poorly, these headphones were pretty decent. They paired up to my bluetooth device (an Android phone) without a hitch, had reasonable sound quality, and are rated for a very good battery life. It's just too bad that they're utterly unwearable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth trim, lots of adjustable settings, and long battery life, July 11, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This trimmer is pretty much the whole package. It's got a ton of adjustable settings (multiple heads, lots of length settings), but length adjustments are quick and easy with a dial.

It's powerful enough to not pull your hair out, and the shortest length setting does a great job of trimming most of the hair.

So far battery life has been great, and it can get a quick charge enough to last through a trim if the battery dies on you mid-trim.

It's comfortable to hold, and for the ridiculously low price you'd be hard-pressed to find something better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent keyboard with a comfortable mouse, February 19, 2013
I've used a lot of keyboards, and the Wave Pro is overall pretty good. It's ergonomic, has a lot of extra keys you may or may not use (the volume and media controls are definitely useful.. the rest may or may not be, depending on what you use it for).

Unfortunately, the keys are a little stiff, which makes it a little less comfortable than a lot of other keyboards for typing more than a few paragraphs.

The mouse, on the other hand, is quite comfortable, and has enough buttons (which can be customized) for most purposes. The button to switch the wheel between click-scroll and smooth-scroll is awesome, and the dpi-changing buttons are great if you're a gamer.

The only con I have for the mouse is that it's a little heavy, and doesn't feel as accurate for gaming, but for any other tasks it performs well.

For a regular keyboard/mouse, this is a decent option. I'd recommend a mechanical-switch keyboard over this one, though, as the keys are easier to press and more comfortable for typing, but if you need both a mouse and a keyboard and are on a tighter budget, this pair isn't a bad option.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great taste, great nutritional value, a little chunky., February 19, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I haven't tried very many protein powders, but this one is definitely the best tasting so far.

You get mostly protein without too many calories (check the label before you're buying to be sure you're getting what you expect though).

My only con for this stuff is that it doesn't mix as smoothly (with water or milk) by hand as, say, the ON Gold whey. A blender would probably make it perfectly smooth, but even mixing by hand it's plenty drinkable. Might not be totally smooth, but for me it's good enough and the taste more than makes up for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent headphones at a great price, February 19, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
In terms of sound quality, these things are on par with any other sub-$50 earbud, so they get a 5 for sound quality.

In terms of the fit, they're decent. The choice of tips is great, and they fit snugly in your ear. The 'memory wire' that wraps around your ear is helpful, but for me it's a little annoying to get it set just write each time you want to put them in.

The tips that come on the headphones (dual-flanged tips) basically block out any other sound (aside from the cord moving, although that's not too bad), so occasionally I need to take them out to talk, put them in again, take them out to talk again, put them back in.. sort of a pain with the wrap-around design, but not so much a design flaw as it is a design decision.

If you're not planning on talking to people too often while listening to music, these are a great choice for sports ear buds, and I would definitely recommend them at anything under $25.

3.0 out of 5 stars A few glaring issues ruin an otherwise great device., December 6, 2012
The MK808 is essentially an Android tablet without a screen (you use your TV or monitor as the screen). This is a great concept, as it allows you to stream media directly onto your TV screen.

The glaring issue with the MK808 is that it will frequently drop the wi-fi connection (every 10-20 minutes for me). This ruins streaming Netflix or Hulu, but streaming music works well enough even with the connection dropping. This is not just an issue with my own MK808, this is an issue that basically all of them have. Unless you put your wireless router right next to it, or use a USB-to-Ethernet dongle and run an Ethernet wire directly to the box, you WILL have the same issue.

The MK808 still works fine for playing movies off an external hard drive, running other Android apps, and general web browsing. The Rockchip RK3066 processor is fast enough to run Android relatively smoothly (not as fast an top-tier Android phone, but fast enough), and movies play fine, even in 1080p.

The software that comes with the stick apparently has a lot of issues, so I installed a custom rom from FreakTab (search Google for MK808 custom ROM and check the first link- just follow the instructions carefully to install). A custom Android ROM is basically like a new version of the Android operating system, made by someone other than the company that makes the device. The one from FreakTab fixes most issues, frees up some extra space, and makes things run a little faster. Unfortunately, the wi-fi issues is apparently a hardware problem, so that won't go away.

Even with the custom Rom, it will occasionally restart itself. This is pretty infrequent (maybe once every few days for me, and only when I'm running certain programs), so it's not much of a problem, and I wouldn't take off a full star just for this issue. It restarts in about a minute, so it doesn't bother me too much.

So basically, it works perfectly if you ignore the wi-fi connection dropping periodically and the fact that you need to install custom firmware to fix the bugs (not hard, just takes about 15 minutes, and only needs to be done one time). Honestly though, if you can wait, I would wait for the next generation of Android mini PC sticks that fix the wi-fi issues and run a little cleaner. If you can't wait, it's still a fun toy for tech/media geeks like me.

Edit: The wi-fi issue could very well be related to my router not being too great, but my other wi-fi devices on the network (including Android devices) quickly regain their wi-fi connection, whereas this thing, unfortunately, does not- I have to manually reset it, or use software to automatically reconnect when the connection drops.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the top phones out now, December 6, 2012
Put simply, the Nexus 4 is one of the top phones out right now.

The curved edges sound gimmicky, but it really does make swiping off the edge of the screen easier (switching home screens, navigating apps, any time a swipe is used, really).

This is a 'Nexus' phone, which means you'll stay up to date with Android updates for as long as it can handle them. Other phones get updates when the manufacturer feels like updating, which usually means that a year after you get the phone, it's out of date. Not so with Nexus phones. You also get to skip the software skins added by other manufacturers (such as TouchWiz, Motoblur, etc). This means a faster, better Android experience.

This phone looks stylish, and the glass on the back is a nice touch. It's probably more likely to crack if you drop it, but with a case on it that shouldn't be an issue.

This phone has the fastest processor of any current phone (Snapdragon S4 Pro), and has the fastest graphics (Mali 400). This makes everything you do super smooth, and apps load and run perfectly.

You also get wireless charging capability built in, but you'll need to get your own wireless charging mat.

Unfortunately, 8gb of space is pretty limited (even 16gb is kind of low), and there's no microSD slot to add more. Then again, my last phone had 8gb and I never used that up. With Google Music (which allows you to upload unlimited music to Google so you can access it anywhere), Drop Box, and other cloud storage services, it's not too hard to find ways to handle your data, even if you do use up your 8gb of space.

The screen on the Nexus 4 is probably the best there is right now. Super high resolution, and the color quality is perfect. If you're used to a Samsung phone, the colors may seem a little dull in a direct comparison (most Samsung phones have heavily over-saturated displays), but really they're more accurate, and the contrast is still top-notch.

The sound quality is very good. Can't really expect more than this from a smartphone. It may not be the best of the best, but it's still very good for phone calls or listening to music or game audio at modest volumes.

For the size, this phone is relatively light and thin. Not the lightest, not the thinnest, but still better than most, and light and thin enough to be pocket-able and comfortable in your hand.

Another minor con is the lack of a 'user serviceable' battery. Phone batteries now last at least a couple years so this shouldn't be an issue, and if your battery does start to die, you just need to unscrew 2 screws to replace the battery (doing so will technically void your warranty, however), so it's not a huge issue.

Being a Nexus phone, you also get the best developer community working on development for the phone. If you want to flash custom roms, run the latest betas, or customize your phone a lot, this is definitely the phone you want.

Basically, if you're going to get an Android phone and you want the best there is, this is a great choice. If you can get it for $300 directly from Google you're getting an amazing deal. If not, this is still a phenomenal price for a top-tier Android phone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality sound bar at a great price, easy set-up., December 6, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
At $170 (the current price on Amazon), this thing is a great deal. The sound quality is great (big, heavy sub-woofer provides as much or as little bass as you want), the sub is wireless (just a wall-plug for power), and the set-up is incredibly easy.

Sound-quality: This sound bar/sub puts out very high quality sound for the price. I haven't had any issues with noise, and the sub is big and heavy. You can adjust the bass level with a knob on the sub, but even set half-way it's more than enough bass. The bar fills the [relatively large] living room in my apartment, and the quality is very good.

Set-up: Super easy set-up. The manual clearly labels all components, shows diagrams of each of the possible connection methods, and clearly explains each button. You can easily set any remote to control the buttons (power, volume, etc.) just by holding down a few buttons on the bar, then pressing the button you want to use on your remote. That's it, you're set. You can also set the bar for music or movie mode, and for whether you have it mounted on a wall or on a table, so you get the best possible sound for your particular setup. The directions also give tips on where to place the sub and the bar for the best possible sound- another nice touch that may be overlooked by others.

Use: Pressing the volume up/down on the device or on your remote blinks a green light briefly to let you know the volume changed. It's visible, but not too bright (and goes away when you're not pressing buttons, which is nice). You can set it to use your own remote, so you don't need a separate remote to control it.

Looks: The bar looks pretty boring, but it blends into my TV stand and isn't ugly, so I'm okay with it. The sub, on the other hand, is actually pretty stylish. The curved edges and not-quite-square shape make it look classy and modern.

Overall: At $170, this sound bar/sub is a great deal. Full sound, easy set-up, easy to use.. can't ask for much more than that. I didn't expect details for a soundbar to matter much, but after noticing all the little things (directions for placing the sub, easy remote set-up, buttons to set it for music/movie mode, etc), it really adds up to a much nice package. 5 stars, easily.

Nexus 4 Case - Ringke SLIM Case [LF WHITE][Better Grip] Premium Dual Coated Hard Case Cover for Google Nexus 4 - ECO Package
Nexus 4 Case - Ringke SLIM Case [LF WHITE][Better Grip] Premium Dual Coated Hard Case Cover for Google Nexus 4 - ECO Package

4.0 out of 5 stars Slim, clean case at a good price., December 6, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a very slim hard case, and is specifically cut to fit the Nexus 4. All of the buttons and ports on the phone are still easily accessible with the case on, and the price is great.

Pros: Very slim (slimmer than the rubbery TPU cases, and most other hard cases I've seen). It's cut very well, wrapping around the front of the phone just enough to hold it in place, but not add additional width. Button holes and port holes are all cut out, so you don't have to press on the case to hit any of the buttons (like you do with some of the soft cases), and none of the ports are blocked at all.

Cons: May not provide as much protection as a thicker hard case or a soft case, especially since it doesn't wrap around the front of the phone as much as other cases. This is a compromise though- you get slightly less protection, but the case looks nicer and stays slimmer instead.

Another point is that it's a pretty slippery case if your hands are dry. It will slide very easily into pockets, but will also slide easily out of pockets, and potentially out of your hands.

Overall: If you're looking for a case for maximum protection, this is probably not for you. If you want something slim and stylish, this case is a great option. It will probably protect the glass on the back of the phone and protect the phone from most drops, but may not protect the front glass if you drop it face-down onto something that's not flat. I'm happy with the purchase.
