1.0 out of 5 stars A costume trinket, at best, June 1, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Extremely poor quality with portions of weft material worn off the warp. Might be OK for a costume for theatrical purposes, but absolutely useless as a fashion item. I guess the price reflects the lack of quality.

I'm using this as an extra Time Machine backup drive. The backups have been fast. I love that it's powered from the USB 3.0 port. It's quiet, compact and reasonably priced.

5.0 out of 5 stars As sharp as my Nikon 85mm 1.4!, March 28, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fujinon XF56mmF1.2 R (Electronics)
This is a focal length with which I love to shoot. The perspective is just right for intimate portraits at a comfortable distance. In full frame, the Nikkor 85mm 1.4 has been my go-to lens. Now that I am transitioning into the MILC system, I'm delighted to not have to give up anything from build quality to image quality with this Fuji lens. I've shot with the X Pro-1, XE-1, XE-2 and now with the XT-1, and all of the lenses in the line up except the 14 and the 23. This is the best lens in the system thus far.

Other than having to spend a grand to purchase (actually a reasonable price for the quality), I can't think of a single thing to complain about. If you shoot portraits and it fits your budget, this lens should be in your kit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compact, effective and a great value!, January 29, 2013

Traded my old Pocket Wizard Plus units for these because I needed wireless triggers that would work with my Fuji XE-1 MILC system. Wasn't disappointed at all. They're tiny, have all the connectors I needed and are a great value.

Salvatore Iaquinta, MD isn't just the author of this book. He's also one of the doctors who has been instrumental in saving my life. Did that make this book a must read? Yes, but it was so much more than that. Written with both the cool honesty and subtle humor that characterize his bedside manner, Dr. Iaquinta does a great job in documenting the struggles of his internship year in general surgery at a county hospital in Oakland, CA. Unlike so many other memoirs of this type, he doesn't pull any punches when talking about his tribulations or his triumphs. I have always appreciated his confident manner and great surgical skill. I've also been lucky enough to learn first hand a little bit about his interests outside of medicine. Now, I feel I've gotten a more complete picture of how he came to be the terrific doctor he is. This is a must read for budding medical students as well as patients who want to have some insight into the day to day reality that is medical care in the US. It's not "ER," "Scrubs," or "House." It's much more engaging and entertaining.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great value in a must-have accessory, August 11, 2012
With detailed stitching, high quality leather and a perfect fit this case would be a good buy at the OEM price. At the price it sells for on Amazon, it's a steal!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the only one to buy, March 15, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After having been completely disgusted with the Apple version of this product connecting my Mini to a 30" Cinema display with nothing but horrible noise lines in any area of black, I decided to order the Kanex iAdapt. Wow, what a difference. The video quality is amazing! The build quality is just fine, too. As my title says, this is the only one to buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars My wife's favorite color, March 6, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We had been talking about alpaca when this shawl showed up in Amazon's great buys. Since this particular shade of purple is my wife's favorite color I just had to order it. The seller immediately contacted me to let me know that the item had been shipped via airmail from Ecuador. He also gave a good idea of the transit time. It was well worth the short wait (it arrived sooner than expected). The shawl is very well made, soft and warm. The construction is excellent, the color wonderful and material incredibly soft. In addition to detailed care instructions there was a cute little Ecuadorian decorative pin as a little thank you bonus. If you are in the market for alpaca don't hesitate. You won't be disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nano 6th Generation is a Nono, December 20, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Throughout my 26 year relationship with Apple, I have learned never to buy a first generation product from them. While each first generation product always has a "sexy" design and some "cool" features, the products often have a "one step beyond Beta, but no quite ready for general use" functionality. The new iPod Nano is not really a 6th generation product. It shares virtually none of the features of its predecessors except for the fact that it's an mp3 player. In essence, then, it's a first generation micro touch screen mp3 player and as such it suffers from the usual Apple first generation product faults.

The pros:

1- Beautiful fit and finish
2- Handy clip
3- Light and compact

The cons:

1- Mediocre sound quality (with a variety of headphone, using the same file quality as with out iPods, the sound is weak and less than full)
2- User interface is kludge - touch screen is a novelty that doesn't really add to the functionality of such a small screen
3- Battery life is horrible (using it purely as a watch (no music, no pedometer, no radio, mostly in sleep mode) less than 12 hours of life!

Nice to haves for a future version would be things like a calendar, contact list, bluetooth and much stronger battery. I don't lament the loss of video recording capability, but some playback capability would probably make this a more attractive product at this price point.

In case you think me a shill for non-Apple products, our household has 2 Mac mini's, old and new versions of Apple TV, a Time Capsule, a Macbook Air, a Macbook Pro, a 30" cinema display,160 GB iPod Classis, 2 64 GB iPod Touch 4th generation, 2nd generation shuffle, 4th generation iPod Nano, etc.
