5.0 out of 5 stars I could not put this book down!, November 9, 2006
This book is a sexy classic. As a sex worker in New York, I found this book to be truthful and entertaining at the same time (although dated in many respects). You will find yourself liking her because she never feels sorry for herself and truly loves the business. She is street smart, funny, and feminine with no apologies. It's too bad they made such a bad movie adaption - I would love to see another one made!

2.0 out of 5 stars Was it wrong for me to think she'd be smarter?, November 9, 2006
I'm an undergrad from a NON-Ivy League school who works in the sex industry, and I was shocked at the stupid decisions she made! Doing coke with customers, smoking crack, telling a male friend about her work and was shocked he tried to buy a service, unprotected oral, kissing all of her clients on the mouth, working for a pimp... It just goes to show a degree doesn't help in this business unless you plan on writing a self absorbed memoir. Her writing is so-so as well. A lot of it goes like this, "I did this... and then I did that." You get the feeling that she thinks she's very elegant and sharp, but really, she was only charged $200 and hour. For a classic book on sex work, read Xaviera Hollander's "The Happy Hooker." It's a little dated, but she actually has an interesting story to tell.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect gift for crude moms & gay uncles., October 31, 2006
This book is raunchy, scatterbrained, offensive, and absolutely hilarious. What a purchase! Amy Sedaris has created a book on entertaining that is as freakishly detailed as her home decor. Every square inch of the book (including the book jacket/centerfold) is overflowing with absurd drawings, photos, recipes, crafts, family memories, and helpful hints, such as, "Gift Ideas for Early Menopause." The tone is of a 1960s cookbook with a narcotics problem. Although this is the type of book you want to curl up with and have a laugh - it is actually useful! The recipes are delicious (try the Tiddlywinks Toadstool Pie *yum*) and the entertaining tips take the pretentiousness out of throwing parties. Go Amy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great stylish boots for the price, September 17, 2006
These boots are super soft, sturdy, & stylish for an "under $200" price. I've seen an LV pair in almost the same style. The hardware, leather, and stitching look expensive and the rounded toe, rubber sole, and thicker heel make it about as comfortable as a 3.5 heel can be. I would have given 5 stars if there was more cushioning and were easier to take off.
