4.0 out of 5 stars Best EQ I ever had.. with some negativity!!, May 19, 2014
I thought about this Pro EQ because the advertising spoke directly to everything I wanted: MORE THAN TEN BANDS PER CHANNEL; professional, heavy duty construction; superior parts, etc. yes, i was afraid of this device because of the bad press here and terrible ratings, BUT I thought I would take a chance and see if they delivered on the quality promised. I also liked the 19" rack system format. The design is neat, organized and attractive.

Also, I liked the way the sliders look and feel. Yes, I believe it would be better with a dimmer switch for the LEDs, but its not a deal breaker. And yes, the cord could be longer.. I just got a surge suppressor plug bar with a long cord-- problem solved.

One Item I agree with some of the complainers on, is the 'spectrum analysis system'; it is not really a real time graphics system as most EQs have.. it is a sort of phony make believe graph that A) does bounce up and down with volume, however, I changed ALL of my EQ sliders and not a single channel/band indicator moved one iota. Also I demo'd several DVDs CDs and TV shows and each and every one showed the exact same 'spectrum analysis profile. That's impossible. I deduct its phony.

Another troubling issue is, the home URL of TigerDirect shows the Technical Pro EQ 7153 as having a ONE MONTH Warranty. If true, that has to be the shortest warranty on the market for EQs.

NOW, to the good stuff. The EQs are 12db +/-, the audio is pristine, the diodes are well designed and the sound quality is excellent. My system sounded darned good before the EQ, but afterwards, with proper setting, your system should sound superb, Mine did. In some of these cases, I believe the EQ must have brought out some hissing that was already present in their systems,. With good surround or stereo equipment, this EQ should work excellently.

It appears that the parts are heavy duty, and designed to take heavy work. It wouldn't take much improvement to improve on EQs with faulty switches/buttons like AudioXxxxx, that fail after light use.. I really like the Loudness control for low volume work, however one must be very careful with Loudness controls IF you have a subwoofer. It can be easy to blow a sub if you forget to take the Loudness off when you've escalated the volume to the high range. I REALLY like the 21 BANDS and the ability to sculpt your tone in very precise ranges, adapting to nuances of varying midranges and tweeters out there.

I expect this EQ to last many years, be reliable and perform at this high level the whole time, IF i find that the parts are NOT heavy duty, that this EQ is not made of superior components, I will make it a point to report that on this forum, But I would be shocked. This looks like a mostly quality device, Many of these negative experiences just don't make sense.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid comfortable dress shoe, May 5, 2013
I recently was prescribed two sets of diabetic/orthotic shoes with custom inserts, turned out to be the Dr Comfort Captain for dress occasions and the David for comfortable situations.

Both shoes look and feel excellent and are enjoyable to wear, especially with the augmented depth. They are a bit pricey but that could explain the quality...

I would have given both pairs 5 stars, but I have just had these for a month and it will be a year or two before I know how long these hold up. If these shoes last as well as they look and feel, then I will have found an excellent company to buy shoes from.

I would certainly recommend these to a friend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good comfortable deep mens shoe!, May 5, 2013
I have purchased two sets of Dr Comfort mens shoe, one David, the other the Captain; I have spine disorders so I was prescribed these shoes for orthotic use with custom inserts.

The Dr Comfort's are attractive (one, the David, is for comfort, the other, Dr Comfort Captain, in light brown, a semi-dress shoe), functional, comfortable, and effective for containing my foot/spine problems. They were designed in the USA and made in China.

I would rate these sets of shoes both 5 stars, but as I have had them less than a month, the unknown factor is how long these shoes will last. If these hold up as well as they look and feel, then I will have found some real quality shoes, and they will have earned fives. I will try and check back in in a year or two...

5.0 out of 5 stars Sony bookshelf speakers make the cut, February 22, 2013
Last year I took a chance on the Sony bookshelf B3000 speakers and over the last 8 months I have learned where this speaker works best: it should be mounted at least 3 and preferably 4 feet off the floor. Never put this speaker on the floor, as its best attributes cannot be discerned that way.

When you elevate these speakers, the quality of the midrange and treble really come out. AND your bass will be enhanced too. These speakers project, but do it best off the floor. I have matched these B3000s with the Sony Center channel speaker which may be out of production, but was a phenomenal deal at 89$, and the excellent Sony SAW3000 180 Watt RMS subwoofer and some 10" front L/R speakers which I built myself, and the result is superb. The rear surround channels that my B3000s drive, have excellent resolution, and sound very good at audio, and excellent on Dolby 5.1 surround for DVD and Blu Ray motion pictures. The black finish is tolerable and matches throughout the Sony audio line, so the more of this series you use, the more they will match.

These speakers are not costly, yet provide generous sound. My Sony 5.1 amp has 770 watts RMS (Dolby 7.1), so I am using only 550 of the 770 watt rating, plus 180 W Rms for the sub, gives you close to a kilowatt of motion picture audio. With Dolby TrueHD audio on Blu Ray, your sound is going to be extraordinary.

Save money and get fabulous sound: get the Sony B3000 and its matching affiliate speakers and you cannot go wrong.Regular DVD audio will sound very good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Drive 790 Great for post surgical support, October 20, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is my second Drive 790 Knee Walker, as I knew I had to have one after my third foot procedure that required me to be off my left foot for 3 months. It was a life-saver after I had been told to stay off the foot and use either the Drive walker or crutches. Crutches and I did not get along in this case, as I had steps to traverse. Get it from the right place (Amazon) and it is affordable. Some local medical supply companies charge a small fortune for the 790.

It is well built, heavy duty, and sold from England, but I have one minor complaint. It is minor but annoying. The handlebars contain brake controllers, but the right brake on the rear right wheel, has a genetic problem, as the right brake is always too tight or too loose. It has to be adjusted and just cannot seem to get right. I have had two separate Drive 790's separated by 6 months, due to a fourth foot op I had to have that was not anticipated. And yes both 790's had the same or similar issue.

The one thing I have to submit about Drive is, you have to be really careful going around corners in business buildings and the like. The gears are extremely efficient so you are able to go pretty fast on this little critter. If you go around a corner at any speed, because the wheels do not have wide tracking, you may find yourself on the floor. And often buildings have concrete floors and they hurt when you take a fast spill.

I highly recommend the Drive 790 for foot/ankle surgery patients. It is a real convenience.

4.0 out of 5 stars Currency Wars: Warning for the West., September 29, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Currency Wars is a stern warning about what might be coming if we don't wake up and face realities. China's state export subsidies and undervalued currency are hitting the West and Europe and flattening our economies, particularly affecting our manufacturing.

This book is a brief about what these problems are and what we can do about them, if we have the sense. This is a wake up call to the US and a roadmap as to how we can fight the Chinese juggernaut and their currency manipulations that are pounding our economy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Avatar Delivers Sight and Sound on BluRay, June 17, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We have a whole slew of regular dvd Avatars, and were shocked when we tuned up the new BluRay I got for my guys. We figured it would be moderately better, but what we saw was much more.

Sound was amazing, subwoofer content (LFE) was extraordinary, and the video was pristine. Colors were excellent and the resolution was spectacular. Could not recommend any stronger or higher.

Avatar, Dark Knight, and Tron: Legacy MUST be seen in BD to appreciate their subtelties. The best of the best out there..

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent audio through superior Ultra Series cables!, June 5, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I got Mediabridge Ultra Series cables for my home theatre and backup music room subwoofers. They previously had competent but not great Hosa aluminum audio speaker cables which sounded OK. BUT WITH the Mediabridge gold plated cables, the bass is THUNDERING and is not distorted at all, giving an outstanding performance rating for these cables. This 6 foot one I used in the main theatre sub.

4.0 out of 5 stars Paramount does Star Trekkers a great service!, June 2, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Star Trek 6 pack contains the first six movies, all with (more or less) Kirk, Spock, Scotty and Bones and the crew. The videos are in FABULOUS BluRay high definition/high density HD with Dolby TrueHD lossless 5.1 surround. My machine shows several of these movies process at 6 mb/S Dolby 7.1.

My ONLY regret is that back in the late 70s and early 80s the only folks with big high powered subwoofers were a few thousand very wealthy people in Southern California and New York. The audio tracks, although they are pristine clean, are just a little weak, decibel wise, so you have to crank your system up even if you are running 1500 watts. Also the LFE subwoofer tracks are not full and lively like they are with most of the last ten or fifteen years' movies.

The transfers are well done and Star Trek The Motion Picture is actually darn close to the Director's Cut, as opposed to that terrible hatchet job Robert Wise did when the studio gave him the final cut mere weeks before the premeir of the Movie in Hollywood. The Directors Cut was a fine version, plush with great scenes and panoramic perspectives that were just absent in the original release.

Star Treks II, III and VI are outstanding in most every respect.
Audio, Video, effects, transfer, presentation.
I would give this pack 5 stars, but the shortage of perky audio forces me to give 4 stars for this excellent collection of greats. Every true Trek fan should have this in his/her collection.
