5.0 out of 5 stars Best overview of an Ancient Healing System, May 1, 2015
Ayurvedic medicine has been around for five thousand years, standing the test of time. Yet parts of it have only recently gone mainstream. Practices such as oil pulling and gallbladder/liver cleanses have contributed to the health of millions while costing only pennies.

This book is a comprehensive yet easy-to-read guide of ayurvedic medicine theory which really emphasizes balance. In other words, true health is not just about the body, but the body, mind, spirit, emotions, relationships, occupation, finances, etc. Real health involves all your life. As the author states, "It is my firm belief that most illness stems from us not living our life's purpose. Wehen we are living out of line with what we're supposed to be doing, our bodies feel it."

The book includes 10 guidelines for eating awareness, an explanation for the three main body types (doshas) and their recommended diets and exercises, 12 guidelines for better sleep, a huge list of foods with their tastes (sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, astringent), 10 tips for a better spiritual life, 12 traits of healthy relationships, four rules for compassionate communication, and much much more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hollywood needs to make a comedy based on this book!, April 30, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Hollywood really needs to make a comedy based on this book--something like the 1994 movie, On the Road to Wellville. Fat (especially saturated) became falsely vilified and it all began with one hardheaded man, Ancel Keys, Through a comedy of errors, everyone tried to fit the data to suit this theory, and when the government got on board, it became dogma. When a few voices cried that the emperor had no clothes, they were denied research grants. Food became politics. The whole situation got worse when saturated fats were replaced with toxic trans fats, and it would have been hilarious if so many senseless deaths hadn't followed.

I knew about half the stuff in this book already from when I researched for my book Beyond Broccoli--nonetheless this was a very informative and entertaining read, full of surprises even for me. The author is a great sleuth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Because of grains, the human brain has shrunk 10%, April 26, 2015
I am a health/diet author and educator. When people ask me what one simple thing they could do to be healthier, I never hesitate to reply, “Go gluten-free!” The simple fact is that humans are not granivores, and since the onset of agriculture, have lost six inches of height, on average, due to phytates of grains robbing our minerals. What’s worse, the human brain has shrunk 10%. I believe this is mostly due to consuming grains.

Things are worse today: with wheat especially. Wheat has been so hybrid in the last 100 years that the body doesn’t recognize it as food. You may think that you are not wheat sensitive, but everyone is to some degree: especially since wheat in the USA is sprayed with the very toxic pesticide, Roundup Ready!

This is a great e-book to have for fast, healthful and tasty gluten-free recipes. The recipes include breakfast, lunch, dinner and desserts.

The recipes include color photos to inspire you to make the dish. Best of all, each recipe has the prep time, the number of servings, and nutritional data per serving (ie: number of calories, carbs, protein, and fat grams).

Some of the recipes you find include rice noodles with sun-dried tomatoes, basil & parmesian; gluten free strawberry shortcake muffins; tomatoes stuffed with brown rice, mint and feta, and plenty more. I was glad to receive this in exchange for a review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Concise overview and includes great nutritional advice, April 22, 2015
This book was a real labor of love to help people, inspired by the author's having lost his wife to cancer. Says Dr. Westman: "I have the nagging feeling that, if I had known in 2011 about the complementary therapies for conventional cancer treatment described in Chapter 11, Nancy would be living today."

The book opens with conventional cancer treatment, and why the alleged "war on cancer" failed, and all the toxicity from conventional treatment and even the diagnostic procedures (such as mammograms and MRIs, which can actually CAUSE cancer!) It's all just a big money machine, (and finding the "cure" was never intended in my observation).
In this book you will also learn the types of cancer, the stages of cancer, the history of cancer, and the culture of cancer. You will also learn about the various theories of what causes cancer.

I found most interesting the suppressed information of Otto Warburg, who proved that cancer depends on an acidic environment, as well as glucose. Truly a diet rich in greens (alkaline) and very very low in carbs (ketogenic) is the route I would surely take if I got the disease that has killed most my family. Warburg concluded: "... the primary cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen in normal body cells by a fermentation of sugar."

The author states: "It turns out that dramatically reducing the blood glucose that cancer cells so heavily rely upon both starved them and forces the body to generate new fuels from fat called ketones--a fuel source that cancer cells are unable to use ..." So, cut the carbs and starve the cancer cells! How simple is that? Cancer is NOT the body's deficiency of chemo chemicals!

This book is a great overview for those facing which direction to go with cancer treatment. I also like how each chapter is summarized at the end, so you don't have to read everything. Since it is obvious that the drug companies lost their "war on cancer" (though gained enormously in profits), I would go with the nutritional route.

Definitely worth the money for this! It is convenient and easy to use, I took photos with an iPad without the lens and with it, to compare. I loved the ones with the lens more, as there was a wider view. This tool will give you a lot of fun and creativity!

5.0 out of 5 stars Whole Food Source Vitamin for better bioavailability, April 8, 2015
This is really great stuff especially since it is from food sources. This means it is more complete (as there may still be certain nutrients undiscovered as yet) and a whole lot more bioavailable.

I especially like that some of the sources are superfoods like chlorophyll, wheat grass and spirulina. There is also acidophilus for gut bacteria and gota kola for energy.

Synthetic vitamins are often filled with toxic fillers--they are mostly worthless. So I was glad to be given this for review!

5.0 out of 5 stars Move over Eckhard Tolle, Adyashanti, and all you teachers!, April 6, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have read literally hundreds upon hundreds of spiritual books. I thought this would be "just another." Really, I underlined just about every other sentence!

Move over Eckhard Tolle, Adyashanti, and all you teachers! Teal has a very lovely presence on youtube, and in this book she very articulately and succinctly tells you how to be blissful---which is really all we ever wanted! She discusses the law of attraction, how we help expand the universe with our desires and evolution, how bad emotions are our compass, how desire is NOT the root of unhappiness, ghosts, the practice of meditation and being present, why we should embrace the negativity in our lives, forgiveness, getting free from core beliefs and habits, and much, much more.

It is really amazing that this old soul learned so many things at such a young age, things it took me 60 years to learn!

5.0 out of 5 stars Under eye area has fewer fine lines and bags, April 2, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have been using this for a couple of months on my under-eye area. At first it was hard to notice any difference. But now after using it awhile, I do notice that the fine lines and bags under my eyes have been significantly reduced. The ingredients are among the finest, for sure: plant stem cells, hyaluronic acid and Vitamin E. It feels good on the skin, and one thing I like about it is that I can even wear it in the daytime as it doesn't show up.
This was given to me for review, and I am glad it was!

4.0 out of 5 stars Plenty of tips to get good reviews & what to do about bad ones, April 2, 2015
I have read several books on how to market books, which includes getting reviews. As the top book seller in the world, hitting amazon is an absolute must. This book includes some tips I had never heard about. Reading this book will teach you the following: when even a five-star review hurts and even a one-star review can help; how to take control of the first reviews; where to find bloggers to review your book; how to correctly approach reviewers with an email (includes examples of poorly formulated letters and why they won't get a good response); how to set up a "newsroom" on your site which has all the book's publicity and reviews; what to tell your friends and family members so that they can write a good review ( not writing it like a high school book report); the importance of having feelings in your review; how to avoid "fake reviews" which are illegal as far as the FTC is concerned; how to make book signings work in modern times; how to handle bad reviews; the three biggest mistakes authors make when soliciting reviews; how to use social media in book promotion, and much more. I especially like the link to the Amazon top reviewers (10,000 of them!) And by the way, the book is so succinct that you can read it in one sitting!

Disclosure: As a top reviewer myself, I was given this book for review, was glad to have it, and will incorporate some of these tips that were new to me.
