I was very much up in the air about whether or not I should get this game. I play only a few RPGs every year and am not a "hardcore" RPG player. This game really took me by surprise. Graphics aside (which you know what you're getting in a Wii game), everything about this game feels refreshingly innovative. The fact that this game clings to nearly every JRPG stereotype makes this all the more impressive. The main strength is the flow of the game. It never gets bogged down in anything that feels too long, annoying, or not fun. I found myself smiling on several occasions. The combat is very engaging (although using the analog stick for both moving and attacking can be cumbersome when you want to do both at the same time) and leveling is a smooth and even process. The game works very much like a television show by being broken up into fast moving chapters and also given the overly cinematic feel. I think the British voice acting is top notch and you end up caring about the characters but, more importantly, having A LOT of fun with them. I recommend this title to anyone who is on the fence.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't let the haters hold you down., November 22, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
There is no monumental jump forward for either the Legend of Zelda series or for video game in general in Skyward Sword. There really doesn't need to be. Skyward Sword is full of magical moments that make you remember why you started playing video games in the first place. It's pure fun and, once you get into the meat of the quest, is very hard to stop playing. It manages to accomplish such things without a single assault rifle or Blackhawk, which in this day and age is a rarity --- and a pleasant one at that.

Don't be fooled by the pastel colors and charming presentation. Kirby's Epic Yarn is a refreshing platformer that mixes amazing visuals with entertaining gameplay. The attention to detail and sheer amount of creativity flowing through this gem is breathtaking. This is not your every day Kirby game. As with Kirby: Canvas Curse (for Nintendo DS) the developers have ditched Kirby's standard ability to "suck", opting for a brilliantly executed new gamneplay mechanic based on all things yarn. This game is fun for all ages and ability levels. Any hardcore gamer who has any fond memories of the golden days of Nintendo should not pass this up based on it's appearance.
