4.0 out of 5 stars A sweet story with a little heat to liven it up!, December 17, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Unlike some, I really enjoyed this story. I heartily agree that a woman during this historical period would never have advertised for a husband, but if you suspend your belief and read on, I think you'll enjoy it. Margaret definitely has her hands full with with four active children. Their antics lend a humorous aspect to the story. There is one scene that may be a little too explicit for some, but I don't think it detracts from the novella as a whole. If you are looking for an intricate plot, or continual action, this Ruth Nordin offering isn't for you. What this is is a sweet story with a little heat to liven it up! Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent short story!, December 17, 2011

This is the first short story I have read by Rick Mofina, but I cannot wait to read more! He does more in thirty pages than some authors do with five times the space. The action, characters, and plot keep you turning pages! An excellent short story you can read over lunch, or just before bed. Very highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny and heartwarming!, December 17, 2011

I loved this book. The author's sense of humor shines throughout. She never takes herself seriously, but does, indeed, take her role as a mother quite seriously by contrast. I love her quirky sense of humor, and the way she meets life's challenges. She never feels sorry for herself, and makes the best of a dramatic change in her life. For those who look at her negatively, she takes it with a grain of salt, and lives her life as she thinks she should. I applaud her outlook, and marvel at the success she has made of herself. Mothers should encourage their daughters to read this book, if for no other reason than to less romanticize the act of having a child at such a young age. Very, very highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantasy that delivers! Here there be demons, war, & romance. Dive in!, December 7, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Rissa, the Warlord of Tiyan, is trying to protect her country and its people, even as the darkness of the demon inside her is growing. She knows she is running out of time, just as all of the warlords before her have. Death doesn't frighten her, but descending into madness terrifies her.

Taran lives for his vengeance against the people who destroyed his family. With the warlord in danger, he finds himself at not looking at a way to get even, but to the woman herself. She's worth fighting for, even if it means his death.

Rissa and Taran are both strong and determined characters, and able to tap into hidden reserves of strength. But will Taran find enough to defeat the demon living inside her, and save the woman he loves?

I loved this book! The story was incredibly original and had great elements: demons, war, suspense, and romance. I have never read anything like it! The romance is an integral part of the story, but no really passionate scenes are included. This, by no means, takes away from the compelling nature of the book. If you love fantasy with a dash of the paranormal, dive in! Very highly recommended!

Prairie Rose (A Town Called Hope Book 1)

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful Christian romance that is uplifting and inspiring!, December 7, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
At 19, Rosie has spent almost her entire life in an orphanage, but she wants to leave. She sees her chance when she accepts an offer from Seth to be his housekeeper and worker on his farm out West. Although the journey is hard, she soon sees beauty in the endless rolling plains. When they finally arrive, she sees her new home, and quietly despairs. It is like nothing she had imagined. Seth's home is a 'soddy', a home built into the side of a hill. With her faith foremost, she finds her courage again, and sets out to make the soddy into a proper home for Seth and his son, Chipper. As for her, she will be spending her nights alone in the barn. After all, she cannot spend her nights unchaperoned under the same roof with Seth. One lucky find lends fabric for curtains, pillows, and a rug. Joyful about her discovery, she turns her skills into improving her employer's home.

In the months that follow, she is increasingly busy with all the tasks she has set herself to accomplish; low and behold, the town of Hope is born. She loves Seth dearly, but wonders Seth will ever come to feel the same about her.

I'm not much into western historical romance, but this novel was superb! I enjoyed every minute I spent reading it! The story is uplifting, inspiring, and sees the best in people even when the situation is most dire. This is my first Catherine Palmer novel, but it will not be my last! I eagerly await reading other stories about the town of Hope. Very, very highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars A little story that's excellent!, December 7, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Richard had broken up with Tammy over her growing obsession with snow globes; their home had been inundated with them. Now he is accompanying her sister, Lila, to stage a little intervention, and hopefully, talk a little sense into Tammy.

Tammy is living out in the country, and off the beaten path. When Lila and Richard get their first look inside the little stone cabin, they are shocked beyond belief.

This is a nice, neat, little story that's excellent--and such and original idea, too. I really, really enjoyed it...just wish it could have been a little longer. Well worth the time spent reading it! Very highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Smokin' Hot! I loved it!, December 7, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This story is about a woman letting go of a painful, failed marriage. She finally embraces her sexuality, and owns it. The whole process begins when she dresses up as Salome, with veils as her only costume. Wantonly dancing before a handsome gladiator, she removes one veil at a time, ending up naked on his lap. Robert was sexually sizzling, and gave Lyssa just what she had always needed--freedom to express herself. (Wish there were more men like him.) This novella was smokin' hot and I loved it! Very highly recommended!

Rees (Tales of the Shareem, Book One)
Rees (Tales of the Shareem, Book One)

5.0 out of 5 stars A sexy sci-fi romance that's just down right terrific!, December 7, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Based on a world not our own, this story is quite original and enthralling. Rees is a Shareem, a genetically altered male pleasure slave. There are three levels of Shareem, but Rees is the only one created with all three of them.

Lady Talan has never been with a man before, but is encouraged to retain a Shareem to learn all he has to teach her about pleasure. Her time with Rees passes all too quickly, and it is time for him to return to his home. What neither of them had counted on was falling in love.

I loved this book! The characters and storyline draw you in. Romantic, sexy, and a lot of fun, I didn't want it to end! I cannot wait to read the rest of the Shareem novels.(Just be advised, this book isn't for young adult readers.) Very highly recommended!
:o)

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't pass this little jewel up!, December 6, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Aurora Hyatt panics when her journal is lost on a carriage ride. Inside its covers are her imagined fantasies about the newest rake in town. If any member of polite society finds it, her reputation will be in ruins.

When Niles Thornton, Baron Quinton, sees a book fall from a carriage, he retrieves it. When he reads its contents, he finds it difficult to believe Aurora Hyatt has been writing fantasies about him. What she needs is a husband, and Niles just happens to be in the market for a wife. His grandfather has decided it's time for him to settle down, take a wife, and provide him with grandchildren, or else he stands to lose everything.

The next time he sees her is in a crowded ballroom. Niles is already a little drunk; when he dances with her, he stops and kisses her. This is a a passionate, take-no-prisoners kiss. The guests are shocked to their toes about Niles' and Aurora's behavior. Needless to say, her reputation is now in ruins. The only way to even partially salvage her standing in society is for him to marry her, and move them to the quiet countryside. Niles isn't bothered by the notion, but Aurora certainly is.

She is mortified by her behavior. When Niles kissed her, she had forgotten all the people around; there had only been Niles, and her within his arms. Now, she has no choice but to marry him. Can a rake be reformed?

I really enjoyed this regency romance. Neither main character was perfect, and I loved their flaws. It made them seem more realistic and believable. Their marriage has its ups and downs just like a normal one would. If you want to read something a little different from the norm in regency romance, don't pass this little jewel up! Very highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious fantasy for adults!!!, December 6, 2011

This review is from: Sorcha's Heart (Kindle Edition)
After finding the magical amulet, Sorcha's life is changed forever. This novella was short, sweet, and delicious! This compact fantasy offering had a storyline that was quite interesting. Although the romantic relationship seems incredibly fast, in contrast with novels, this should not be unexpected in works of much shorter length. The romantic scenes were full of passion and heat, but not graphic or explicit. I really, really enjoyed this novella, and should Ms. Mumford ever decide to go back and extend its length, I would gladly purchase it. Very highly recommended!
