5.0 out of 5 stars MISS MARPLE AND HER STUDIES ON "HUMAN NATURE", July 23, 2001
Well Ms. Christie fooled me again but, then again she always does. That is why she was and still remains the best of the genre. This is our intro to Miss Marple and her amatuer sluething. The best thing you can say about any mystery writer is her/his solutions are well hidden yet, totally believable when they are revealed. That fits this story to a tee. The story is narrated by the vicar who is not only unlucky enough to have a murder commited in his home but, is also one of the main suspects. Tough day for anyone unless your next door neighbor is MISS MARPLE. Buy this and I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Lady Dame Supplies A Classic, July 13, 2001
After completing this fast paced, character driven, thriller/mystery, I immediately stocked up with more Christie titles. Slueth extrodinaire Poirot makes an unusally late appearance but, this serves to only highten his effectiveness and our interest. Ms. Christie's masteries include the ability to make us like and even care about characters in as little as 2 or 3 sentences. By doing this she clouds our judgement on motive, deception, and the ability to deduce what only becomes obvious after another classic Poirot confrontations with the suspects. This is one Christie's best "later" works.

5.0 out of 5 stars FLASHY GETS HIS VICTORIA'S CROSS, May 29, 2001
This is Flashman's memoir of his time in the "Indian Mutiny" and it is an excellent read. Sir Harry's self bashing is a laugh riot as he explains to us his misadventures during this understudied part of Victorian history. Mr. Fraser's historical knowledge is impressive. We must thank him for using one of the funniest characters in all literature to explain events of great historical signifigance. Flash is stumbling in and out of mischief, bedrooms, battles, and dungeons, while on a secret mission for the queen and it is a pleasure to educate yourself through this anti-hero.

5.0 out of 5 stars HIGGINS BEST WORK, WELL DONE, May 5, 2001
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Eagle Has Landed (DVD)
This is one terrific cast in one exciting story. Many may complain that it is unrealistic or the ending is too contrived, yet I challange any producer, director, or author, in present day HOLLYWOOD to do any better than this. Action, adventure, espionage, even some romance, this will take you back to the golden age of entertainment. This movie rates favorably with the "GUNS OF NAVARONE", which is an excellent film in it's own right. I particularly enjoyed DUVALL's and CAINE's performances. Higgins must be proud of this interpretation of his finest novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST BATMAN PRODUCTION EVER, March 4, 2001
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is the way the "Dark Knight" was meant to be done. This is one of the better story lines that compares favorably with many of the best comic book productions in any Batman series. The animaton is top notch and the acton is impressive. "FREEZE" is an imposing villan that you actually sympathize with. If you like Batman at all, in any form bu this video.

5.0 out of 5 stars BATMAN'S ORIGINS, February 21, 2001
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I know that there are a million variations on the story but, this one is quite enjoyable and the 40's film noir style adds a touch of class. The credits begin a swooping panaramic of "Gotham City" architecture it'll grab you and you won't look away, then BATMAN busts up a convention of neighborhood thugs with a casual panache as only "THE DARK KNIGHT" can. That's just the first 60 seconds. Buy and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT STORY IMPRESSIVE ART WORK, February 19, 2001
Bruce Wayne and his more famous alter-ego are written at their best. It can't be easy to write about a vicious vigalante with a heart of gold, but it is done in convincing fashion here. Batman will do anything to stop mob boss "The Roman" and a serial killer killing his henchmen in a corrupt Gotham yet, he has a tender spot for not only "Catwoman" but, for "Solomon Grundy born on a Monday". It is this dual persona that humanizes our hero and has made him the social icon he has been for over 60 years. You see nobody is all good or all bad and we have all thought of revenge and selfless giving at nearly the same instant. Many novel writers could study the Batman/Bruce Wayne character to learn a thing or two about character development. This is the most impressive graphic novel I have ever seen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Stumper, February 2, 2001
All right so apparentely previous reviewers are descendant directly from "Sherlock Holmes", otherwise me thinks they are perhaps stretching the truth when they say, "they guessed the murderer early on in the story". Ms. Christie is quite simply at genius level with the twists and turns in this yarn. I could not put this one down and neither will you. Order, read, and enjoy. one of the greatest writers of our century.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspector Banks has a tough week., January 6, 2001
This is a great yarn that I completed in one sitting. Our protagonist is not only a great detective but, a likable man. He is an attractive character for all the usual reasons, (i.e...intellegence,charm,loyalty,persistance,..et al.), yet it is his human flaws that allowed me to care about him and understand him. They include smoking too much, drinking to escape feelings at times, and a wandering eye for the ladies.(DON'T BASH HIM TOO HARD FOR THE LAST ONE BECAUSE IT IS ONLY HIS EYE THAT WANDERS.) So much so in fact the author must have studied psychology at length. The author's knowledge of police procedures including, forensics, stake-outs, and questioning of witnesses and suspects, is absolutely dead-on perfect. This one really kept me guessing. Kudos to Mr. Robinson for making the series of crimes and the solving thereof so realistic.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Beautiful Game with a Samba Flair, December 13, 2000
Soccer is the worlds game. Everyone's favorite team after their home country is Brazil. This video and it's remarkable footage is an admirable homage to the Brazilian teams and the stars therein. Everyone knows of Pele but this video will show you the talents of Didi, Garrinchia, Zico, Rivelino, Socrates,.... and many more. Something in Brazil (perhaps the water) allows their player to have better dribbling, passing, and shooting skills than any other countries players. This video is worth it just for the rare Pele footage, but buy it for the others you may not know nearly as well.
