5.0 out of 5 stars LUIS TIANT was HUGE in this SERIES, January 19, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The "BIG RED MACHINE", probably the greatest line-up of my lifetime, were my heroes when I was growing up, so when I bought these excellent DVD'S it was to flashback my childhood heroes. What happened? Well beginning with GAME 1 I was immediately impressed with " EL TIANTE ". He tosses a complete game shutout in that one, shutting down the aforementioned line up with only 5 hits. Then in GAME 4 on the road he throws a complete game 5-4 victory while throwing 163 PITCHES. Never in the 21st century is that going to happen. In game 6 he gives up 3 runs but keeps it close which eventually allows the bull pen to keep it tight and then FISK hits the bottom of the 12th game winning HOME RUN off the " GREEN MONSTER " foul pole to FORCE A GAME 7. Please watch the baseball fundamentals in this series a la "hitting the cut off man", "hitting to the opposite field", "sacrifice bunting for the team no matter how big of a star you are", amazing series, amazing drama, but most of all amazing LUIS TIANT.

5.0 out of 5 stars HOLLYWOOD COULD LEARN ALOT FROM THIS, February 17, 2006

This was a great time travel sci-fi thriller. Great twists and the bad guy is awesome. I've always believed that it's the bad guy that carries any thriller. Sure the good guy should win but don't forget to have a bad guy that you love to hate.

The camera work and special effects are excellent. I would put this up against any thriller put out by Hollywood since the original Matrix.

5.0 out of 5 stars Proof Positive Scripts Beat Reality Everytime, February 16, 2006

Hugh Lawrie is amazing, yet it's the ensamble cast make it the best drama on TV. My liberal arts education can't even begin to understand the medical diagnosis the staff ping pong back and forth but, I promise the characters and their own human fralities make week to week quality entertainment. It is almost the "WEST WING" of hospital dramas with over-lapping banter and strong personalities the way real life is. I can't begin to tell you how this restored my hope for quality network programming.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST TREK EVER, December 25, 2005
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Let me begin by saying I am a huge "Trek" fan. I own every movie and television show on dvd, and I realize that it is a big no no, but of all movies, shows, etc... this season is the best of all. The ongoing story arc is brilliant, yet the individual shows plots and character developments are never forced and add to the tension of the final showdown. If this season had been viewed by all the fans who gave up after seasons 1 or 2 the show would never have been cancelled. Fantastic job by cast and crew. Great forsight by the writers to plan and execute to perfection a 24 episode thriller.

Impressive dual biography of Ray Chapman And Carl Mays with the 1920 Pennant Race as the center of focus. Author does an excellent job of weaving the many characters into the storyline. The book never drags and quite frankly is riveting. This book not only deserves all the praise it receives here but, should be used as an example for writers everywhere both fiction and non-fiction on how to supply the public with a product of quality and class. Here's one thought in passing, "THIS WOULD MAKE AN EXCELLENT FILM"

5.0 out of 5 stars Mrs Boyton had to die., August 16, 2003
Talk about antogonist, our murder victim will have you hoping Poirot lets the guilty walk this time a la ......(won't spoil that title for ya). Very nice characters very believable twist. Ms. Christie proves yet again I am no HERCULE POIROT. How do I always miss the clue?

4.0 out of 5 stars OK NOT A CLASSIC BUT QUITE ACTION FILLED, January 15, 2003
I usually don't write a review unless I feel 5 stars are warranted but, this book was an edge of your seat adventure that brings together the best TREK heroes and villans. This is excellent escapism and well worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars POIROT IS SIMPLY THE BEST, November 12, 2002
This one contains three plot twists that had me grasping at straws. The end is a believable well done shocker. Poirot and his seemingly off the wall questions to the suspects make so much sense when he explains them at the end. Having read much of the Lady Dame's work I must say that this is an excellent addition to her mysteries. I believe that Christies novels read best in one sitting because of the dialouge centered writing but,it always makes me a little sad at the end knowing that I am running out of titles by her.
