The surface story is post-apocolyptic. The true story is about that which makes us human. I love this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars I hope it will be better presented than the first two volumes, September 12, 2014

The absolute butchery of the English language displayed in this book spoils the story. Such a shame- with decent editing these stories could have been classics of fantasy literature.
I still want to read the third book. I hope it will be better presented than the first two volumes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Will delete from my Kindle, September 22, 2013
I support a person's right to choose a "peaceful death". Much of this book deals with the benefits of pentobarbital for this purpose. However since it is illegal to bring this drug into the US, I don't see much point in discussing how well it works. The book also reports (at some length) how difficult it has become to obtain this drug overseas. So essentially this book describes a wonderful "peaceful pill" and then bemoans its unavailability.

Save your money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shallow and disappointing, September 1, 2011

I did not get a sense of period history from this book. The characters are predictable and shallow. Seems to be written on a fourth grade reading level, except for the inclusion of bodice-clutching romantic content.
