Stumbled upon Tony's YouTube channel and saw the book advertised. Everything being said about it is true. Great book. Covers many photography topics. Like a Pixar film, everyone can take something from this book. Highly recommend it and the Kindle version price can't be beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars As advertised...simple and effective, March 22, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ordered this to fit a Rode VideoMic Pro on my Vixia HF G10. Works as advertised. Mic (and any other accessory) fits nice and tight.
Product shipped in a timely manner and company was very responsive to my inquiries and even followed up to ensure I received product and was satisfied. Highly recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars Decent camera / terrible low light, February 2, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I really wanted to love this camera, but I could only like it. It is well designed physically. However, the fan is kind of a turn off asthetically. Performed outstanding when there's plenty of natural lighting. Once you rely on indoor lighting it falls apart. Images are too dark and noisy. Fan noise is present. Also, white balance is temperamental. It will fluctuate like crazy.
Thank goodness for Amazon's generous return policy. Would have kicked myself if I was stuck with this unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC!!, February 2, 2012
After testing several cameras first hand (thanks to gracious return policies) I found the crown jewel in the Vixia HF G10. I used the Sony CX360, Panasonic TM900, and the Canon Vixia M41, this was the winner. Granted, it is more expensive than any of those, but well worth it if you are looking for a no regrets purchase. Here is the reason I didn't like the other models, in case anyone is interested:

Sony CX360- virtually no manual settings. Image was decent. Low light was nice, but a bit noisy. Was left unimpressed.

Panasonic TM900- thought I had found a winner here. Was able to get it for $599. Nice mix of Auto and mostly manual controls. The focus ring was great. Takes great still pictures. Outdoor performance, outstanding. Filming indoors with room lighting was terrible. Even with all the lights turned on, images were too dark and grainy. This was a deal breaker for me, especially after researching the Canons.

Canon Vixia M41- Auto mode was decent. Nice but limited manual controls. LCD was small and not high res. Indoor low light was amazing and outdoor was great as well. Would have kept this one and been satisfied, but decided to go for the G10. Why? Read on...

The G10's boatload of manual controls, the superior lens to the M41, the low light performance, the focus ring, the high resolution LCD, the sound mixing, the ability to record in native 24p... I could go on and on.
60p is the BIG selling point on other models, but frankly it's more trouble than it's worth. 60p is amazing, but you'll only be able to get that when played directly from the camera. The rest of the time you'll be likely converting to 30fps anyway.

So, in the end, I would highly recommend this camera for anyone who wants an excellent all around camera that will challenge you with all its options. You can go as auto as you want or as manual as you can handle. The Vixia M41 is a great alternative for anyone not worried too much about manual controls, but wants the same quality video.
