5.0 out of 5 stars A favorite show, October 11, 2014

This review is from: Murdoch Mysteries, Season 7 (DVD)
This is one of our favorite shows. The cast is perfect. Murdoch is a serious detective but also a bit of a science geek, which adds color to his character. Jonny Harris as his sidekick, Constable Crabtree is perfect and brings humor to the show. Thomas Craig is also wonderful as Murdoch's boss. I can't imagine anyone else in those roles.

3.0 out of 5 stars Has good and bad points, October 11, 2014

We got this for my mom because it's easy to use. She doesn't need to press more than two buttons. Many of the old BBC shows she enjoys are offered on Prime, which was another reason. She's been happy with the product.

The only complaint is they'll offer several seasons of a show, Murdoch Mysteries is one, and when you get to the final seasons suddenly they want to charge and it isn't cheap. Also some of the movies are pricey, more than On Demand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Always entertaining, August 8, 2014
LIkeable characters, a perfect blend. Interesting stories. Murdoch is a bit of a science nerd and you have to accept the fun nature of things he's "invented." Always entertaining without being too serious.

5.0 out of 5 stars Triple dose of killer thrillers, August 7, 2014
5.0 out of 5 stars Tropical trouble April 27, 2012

Format:Kindle EditionEverything should be wonderful for Kate Jones. As usual, it is not. Kate and her boyfriend, Cole, the sheriff from Touring for Death are on a luxury cruise when armed men board the ship seeking one of the passengers, Gabriel de la Vega, an expert on the location and relics contained on a nearby 16th century shipwreck. Bad luck abounds for Kate when she's recognized by the leader of the armed group and the men take her too. It turns out the man behind the taking of Gabe is an old enemy of hers, Vincent Anaya, a very dangerous enemy, who love to see her dead.

Always resourceful, Kate manages to escape with Gabriel and another woman, Marcela, the person unbeknownst to either Kate or Gabe who's responsible for leading the Anaya to Gabriel. The threesome lead Anaya's men on a brutal chase across a tropical island before they're caught and held at Anaya's compound.

The story is filled with twists and turns as the reader is kept guessing as to who to trust. Berkom delivers an action packed story with Kate's life at stake, Cole searching for her, and the clock ticking.

Good action

I've read all the Kate Jones series and enjoyed each book. I liked seeing her grow as a character. Yucatan Kate was especially fun as it is filled with twists and turns and an attention getter from page one to the last page.

Another hit!

I am a fan of series books and have followed the adventures and misadventures of Kate Jones from beginning to end. I've enjoyed watching Kate grow as a character and the inner strength she shows in this last book is well-developed and takes her to yet another level.

Berkom has filled the series with fascinating characters: hot heroes, heinous villains, and colorful friends. Throughout the books Kate is hunted and finds herself in danger that can never escape. In this book, the reader is right there with her when she decides to make a stand against her pursuers.

As always with Kate Jones books, the settings are engaging, the characters intriguing and the pace is fast. If you like stories with strong female protagonists, then this is a great series. You don't have to read the books in order. I can say with some surety that if A One Way Ticket to Dead is the first one you read, you'll immediately want to read the rest

The Empress of Ireland (Places to See Book 1)
The Empress of Ireland (Places to See Book 1)
Price: $1.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly Delightful, March 12, 2014
Fufilling a promise to her recently passed away friend Janelle, Laila closes her eyes as she stands before a world map and sticks a pin in the map. Wherever it lands, she has agreed to visit. To her joy, it lands in Kinsdale, Ireland, a place she always wanted to go to but never managed to take the time from work.

Kinsdale is a postcard perfect village. Laila's excitement as she steps off the train is short-lived when she discovers the bed and breakfast she booked isn't open. The eccentric owner had apparently forgot she'd reserved a room and left on holiday. Luckily, The Empress of Ireland, a village pub is open. At least she can get a bite to eat while debating her next step. There she meets the owner, Alasdair, who is having trouble keeping the family pub in the black and still in the hands of the family.

Laila is smart, pretty and a talented chef. Alasdair is handsome, charming, clever, and has a room available for her to stay the night. The timely rescue leads these two well-written characters onto the path of a promising future.

Conner's sweet romances are always a delight to read and the characters drew the reader into cheering for a HEA from page 1 to the end. She has you yearning to hop on the next plane to visit Kinsdale all the time hoping there really is an Empress of Ireland pub to stop for a pint and a hearty Irish meal.

Halo's Christmas Wish (Dreams Come True) (Volume 1)

5.0 out of 5 stars Short & Sweet Romance, February 26, 2014
Halo Carlyle wants nothing more than to prove to her friend and employer, Corny Myers, that she can handle an undercover investigation. Corny is the owner of Green Hornet Investigations (I should specify here, Green Hornet handles cases involving missing pets). Halo is new to the profession and undertstandably a bit awkward. The suspect in the case she's working is an unscrupulous thief with a bad temper and who might be dangerous.

Kleve does a nice job of getting the reader to empathize with Halo's nervousness. Anyone who's ever lacked confidence in a situation where they wanted very much to make an impression will be onboard with Halo.

Enter local veterinarian, Richard McFarland or as Halo initially names him, Mr. McDreamy. When McFarland enters the office where Halo is working undercover, she must fight the major distraction he presents. But there are distractions and there are distractions. Much as Halo doubts it, McFarland is perfect for her in ways she doesn't want to acknowledge.

Halo's Wish is a delightful combination of humor, romance, action, and sweet charm. It is a fast read, great for a lazy afternoon.

This is part of a series by Kleve that starts with Corny Myers's story (Corny being a female Dr. Doolittle) and has expanded to include her girlfriends. You don't have to have read the previous stories but I recommend it as a fun way to spend time.

Payton's Pursuit (The Winters Sisters Book 2)

5.0 out of 5 stars An exciting mix of fantasy, romance, and thrills, February 24, 2014
Payton's Pursuit is the sequel to Chasing Victory, which was also a five star read. Payton and her sisters have discovered they were genetically altered before birth by their mother with enhanced powers. What they don't know is exactly what was done and the extent of their abilities. An unscrupulous corporation looking to "build" the perfect soldier through mixing human DNA with that of a wolf is involved in a determined search to find the sisters and the men who were the subjects of the experiments after the men and sisters escape from the compound where they were held.

This is a roller coaster of a romantic story. Payton and Collin are a couple who can't live with each other yet can't live without each other either or so they think:) She is the force, the only psychic force, that can completely control the violent emotions that remain from the experiments done on him. The problem is: she has no idea how her power works and initially dislikes Collin an isn't keen on helping him.

The author who has three dobermans and has a good amount of experience with dog shows, includes some fun scenes involving the canines and their owners.

If you like paranormal romance with a little sci-fi, and action, then you'll thoroughly enjoy Payton's Pursuit. It is a stand alone and you don't have to have read Chasing Victory first.
