5.0 out of 5 stars This watch screams quality!, December 12, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ordered this watch from the UK via Amazon USA as I cannot find this Blue Ray model here. The sellers, Discount Watch Store were excellent reminding me prior to dispatch that customs duty might be levied - it was, about $40 dollars but even so the watch is is real bargain. It came well packed in a striking Orient box complete with instructions and warranty. On taking it out I was struck by the heaviness of the watch and the quality of the engineering and finish - it really is something to look at and has the look and feel of something much more expensive. It isn't ridiculously heavy but it has presence. Date and day was easily adjusted via the button and crown (both screw down) and then I had to remove 2 links and move the bracelet fasteing one hole in to accommodate my 7" wrist.Removing the links was simple, merely a push out affair with the right tool and then reconnected by pushing the pin back in (no need to take to a watchmaker but be prepared to use a little force). I had in on my wrist the rest of the day (about 10 hours). It sat right on top and was very comfortable. The weight seemed neglible and nothing like a couple of Seiko Monsters I once owned which seemed very heavy in comparison. The watch face is a very dark blue (darker than I imagined), which is slighly disappointing but I hope to see it a bit bluer in sunlight. Still it is very clear to read ( I need reading glasses) but I cannot read the day date without them (never can with any watch). Left it on my bedside table last night - lume is quite good and 8 hours later I could still read it OK. Not as good as a tritium though but acceptable. Checked it timewise against the atomic clock which I had set it by and seems pretty accurate - may have lost a coupe of seconds but absolute accuracy is the quartz watch strength and I already have a Citizen Atomic for that. The watch is non hacking so it is not possible to stop the sweep second hand when setting the time. I rarely feel the desire to do a review so that must say something about this watch. The only con is that the bezel is a bit stiff but I don't dive so I'm not too concerned. Buy it! You won't be dissapointed - now looking at the Mako Pepsi instead of a Seiko.
