1.0 out of 5 stars Did not work, June 11, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When I received this item, it did not work. I tried charging it for multiple days, let it stay "on" for an hour thinking it might warm up, and even had a friend who works with electronics look it over. He said it was cheaply made and probably broke in transit. Listen to this review and the other reviews on here, too -- this product sucks. Don't be seduced by the cheap price like I was. Buy something else.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best body washes out there, March 17, 2008
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I found this body wash in an article in Men's Health magazine where they named it the best body wash -- and after trying it, I have to agree. Neither too thick nor too thin, it leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed. I shower both in the morning and after going to the gym in the evening, and it is mild enough to not irritate my skin while keeping it hydrated. Maybe the best feature of the wash is that it has a nice smell to it -- definitely masculine, but not musky, clinical, or overly sporty. The first time I showered with it not more than thirty minutes later someone was complementing me on how I smelled. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Her second best, May 25, 2005
This review is from: Suit Yourself (Audio CD)
I think most of Shelby Lynne's fans have been waiting for a great follow up to her masterpiece, I AM SHELBY LYNNE. While IDENTITY CRISIS was a step in the right direction and LOVE, SHELBY just plain sucked, neither of those albums (despite the former's title) resolved the big question many are apt to ask: is she country or is she blues?

This album seems to ignore the question by effortlessly blending both, creating a raw sound that has genuine emotion and true artistry dripping from every note. Shelby's voice is beautiful, candid, and appropriately rough; and the backing music, unlike on IDENTITY CRISIS, seems appropriate and natural.

If you've never listened to Shelby Lynne before and are wanting to try an album, add this to your wish list and then buy I AM SHELBY LYNNE. Pick this one up second, followed by IDENTITY CRISIS. If you are a Shelby fan who feels burned by the last couple of releases but loved I AM SHELBY LYNNE, don't hesitate to buy this.

All of that being said, the stand out tracks are #1, 2, 7, 8, and 12. The whole thing is great, though, and perfect for summer. I'm glad I stuck with her on this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for any television lover, May 23, 2003
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this book for 99 cents figuring I had nothing to lose. I was shocked at the reading pleasure it brought to me!
This book is extremely entertaining for readers of all kinds. It provides basic information for well over 100 different television series as well as little-known facts and a look at how the television programs influenced culture.
Also not to be missed are the photographs included. While many of the photos are well-known, they are all beautifully displayed with vibrant color. Most intriguing were photographs of Lucille Ball and Mary Tyler Moore, although there are great photos from shows such as The X-Files, Star Trek, The Simpsons, and many others.
I also like how, in addition to the "100 Greatest Shows Ever," the reader is also treated to the top 10 shows in other various genres. The book really makes you rethink the entertainment that television can provide. Buy it -- you won't regret it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not great, May 23, 2003
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Introducing Feminism (Paperback)
As a teacher in women's studies I was hoping that this might make a good primer for my students. While it does a pretty good job as a history text, it really doesn't do a good job at introducing key concepts. This is especially true once it reaches the 1980s. I might also add that this text treats feminism as something that ended after the 80s. The book needs a good updating.
In short, if you are already familiar with the feminist movement, then this book makes a nice pocket guide and reminder. If you are new to the concepts, I would start somewhere else rather than here.

3.0 out of 5 stars You take the good, you take the bad..., March 16, 2003
You take them both and there you have this book. The good: it is a nice way to get teenage and pre-teen girls interested in a truly great television series. The bad: it takes all the with and exuberance of the actors out of the equation. It also minimizes the simple profundity of the show in order to cram a lot of information into one book.
The bottom line: you won't be offended if you watch the show regularly, but you won't be jumping for joy at the book. I'm also not sure if the writing is true to Rory's character -- but have a glance at it and decide. It's only a few bucks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny -- take it for what it's worth, March 16, 2003
I think this is, by far, director Kevin Smith's best film. While many attacked it as a male fantasy (it's the love story of a lesbian woman and a straight man), I think that's just silly. Sure, lots of straight guys fantasize about being with a lesbian -- but that's the crux of the film's argument.
Chasing Amy is about coming to grips with what is truth over what is fantasy. While this sounds a bit complex for a comedy, it all makes sense. And even if you don't want a "serious" movie that makes you think, this film is loaded with enough scat-type humor that you can have a lot of good laughs and watch a good story without having to invest yourself. But if you do invest yourself -- wow. Some good stuff.
Bottom line: If you liked Clerks, you'll probably like Chasing Amy. If you liked Dogma, you'll probably like Chasing Amy. If you think the only good Kevin Smith film is Mallrats, then you're probably gonna want to pass on Chasing Amy. That's too bad, though, because this is a great flick.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too much glitz, not enough information, March 16, 2003
I would recommend skipping out on this book. If you're really looking for information about JLo's life, this isn't the place to find it. It's more concerned with fashion and the mythos of the "Jenny from the Block" fan. Whether you love or hate JLo, this book will likely shed no new light on her life.
