4.0 out of 5 stars Great Screen Protector for your Galaxy S3, April 17, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This Super-Shields LCD screen protector for the Galaxy S3 is pretty easy to apply and seems like it's well-made. It's really transparent and nearly invisible when it's on, which is nice. I like that this package comes with quite a few (six of them) so there's no pressure to get the first one on super perfect or anything. The screen protector doesn't quite fit over the entire surface of the front face of phone but it does protect the entire screen/lcd portion of the screen. For how much you pay, I think this is a great bargain and it should protect your phone from scratches. Make sure you get all the dust off the screen before you put it on though... or you'll have an annoying dust particle under the screen protector... forever... forever... j/k.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Great looking Photo Frame that displays any photos you throw at it... no matter the size., April 17, 2014
I recently bought this VistaQuest - 8" Digital Photo Frame (Espresso colored) for my girlfriend as a surprise and loaded it with photos of us and her son. The picture quality of the screen is surprisingly good. The photos look sharp at this resolution ( 800 x 600 pixels), the colors look vibrant, and the brightness level of this screen is good. There are even options to reduce power (to save energy), and to customize image settings (like changing contrast, brightness, and slide-show timer (time between image changes). It comes with a remote to access the menu or skip photos with. There are also button controls to access the same menu on the back of the frame. The transitions are pretty cheesy, but I picked the least cheesy one which is just photos sliding into the frame. The other transistions look like old video transitions they used to use from the 80's. The frame itself looks nice and simulates a real photo-frame well. It actually took a few seconds for my girlfriend to realize that it was a digital photo frame instead of a normal one... well, once the photos started moving it was pretty apparent. This frame does have built-in memory (and some demo photos already installed) which is nice. Set-up is super easy. You just plug it in, put the Full sized-SD card in (if you have one) and select the source that you want to view from using the menu. The aspect ration of this frame is 4:3, so if you crop your photos to 4:3 first... it will look really nice. If you don't, it will display black bars on the top and bottom (which I like better than if it stretched the image by default). I kind of wished that there was a mode that would automatically crop widescreen photos for you to fit 4:3, but there doesn't seem to be that option. Below are the Pros and Cons for your quick reference.

Pros :
-Good and Sharp image quality with good contrast.
-Bright screen (with lots of custom image settings)
-Frame itself looks nice and simulates the look of a traditional photo frame well.
-Remote control to access menu settings in additional to physical menu buttons on back of frame
-Pretty Easy Setup and has built-in memory as well as SD card port to view photos off SD card.
-Can handle large files so you don't have to shrink image files. This means the Files can be read directly from card that photos were taken onto... no re-formatting required.
-Long power cord

Cons:
-No sound (no speakers)
-Doesn't play video files or mp3 files.
-Retail Price is relatively high
-The stand is just a wand that is pushed into a hole in the back of frame. I'm not sure how resilient it is. Or if it will "stand" the test of time... Pun intended! sorry.
-No setting to program the frame to turn on and off at certain times of day...that would've been cool.

Conclusion :
This is a pretty great digital photo frame. I bought it on sale so I'm not sure I would pay retail for it... ok, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't buy it at retail price. But with that said, I'd still give this photo-frame 4-stars because the screen quality is good and it's easy to use. I'd recommend cropping landscape orientation photo files to 4:3 aspect ratio (if you know how). This will make the photo fit the screen perfectly and you'll eliminate black bars on to and bottom. You can also set up your camera to take photos in 4:3 ratio natively (if your camera has that option) so that no cropping is required after the photo is taken.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well built and Designed 1TB Portable Hard Drive... Fast for what it is too!, April 11, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This Seagate Backup Plus Slim 1TB Portable USB 3.0 External Hard Drive is a pretty impressive device. It packs 1TB worth of storage in a super slim form factor and the build quality on this unit seems very good. When I say "build quality" I am referring to the materials and worksmanship of the item. It also seems like there was a lot of thought put into it's design as well. For example, the read/write led is embedded nicely in the case and is both functional and asethically pleasing. It's not too bright or distracting either. As for function, I was pleasantly surprised at how fast this thing can read/write considering this is a traditional hard-drive and not an SSD (Solid State Drive). I did a test write of my MP3 archive (which is around 80GB of music) and it wrote at a sustained speed of around 62Mbps. I have to mention though, that my primary hard drive on the Laptop that it was reading from was an SSD drive. If you are reading from a traditional hard-drive and writing onto this traditional portable hard-drive, I'm not sure if you could sustain these speeds because you may be limited by your primary traditional hard-drive read speeds. At any rate, I think that 62Mbps is pretty fast for the write speed of a traditional spinning hard-drive. If speed is why you are buying this drive, please also consider that this test was done using a USB 3.0 Port. Although this portable drive is compatible with USB 2.0/USB 1.0 ports, you won't get anywhere near 62Mbps if your computer doesn't have a USB 3.0 port.
Technical Specs aside, this is a very high quality 1TB hard drive that is capable of very high speeds. It's exterior casing looks great and is really slim... so it's a perfect travel companion. It's plug and play too, so it just works when you plug it into your computer... no drivers or installation needed. I know I am singing pretty high praises for this device but it is really hard to find any faults with it. I guess I wouldn't mind if it were a 2TB capacity instead of 1TB, but that's not a fault, lol!
Pros:
-Attractive Design that seems very well thought out
-Very Thin and Great Build Quality
-Simple to Use (Plug and Play)
-FAST for a traditional hard-drive. I got around 60Mbps sustained write speed from it

Cons:
-Nothing I can think of right now.

5.0 out of 5 stars An all-round well built and useful Origami Case, April 11, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
The iHome Origami Vertical Smart Book Hard Back Case seems to be a nicely designed case for the iPad (2nd/3rd Generation models). The build quality is good and the case offers protection to the back of the ipad as well as the front... which is nice. As the name implies, the front cover of the case can fold in a variety of ways to form into a stand which offers different viewing angles and different stand orientation (portrait/landscape) options. The front cover offers protection similar to the "smart cover" cases from other manufacturers... which is a flap of material which folds over to cover the screen to protect it. This case comes in a variety of colors too. Considering the form and function of this case, there really isn't anything to complain about it. It works well, looks nice, and offers protection to my iPad nicely. Below is the breakdown of the pros and cons :

Pros :
-Material build quality is nice.
-Offers protection to both front and back of iPad. some other smart covers out there only protect the front screen.
-Folds into multiple stand orientations.
-Comes in different colors.

Cons:
None that I can think of. It's an all-round wonderful case.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice No frills Dry-Erase board, March 20, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This 8.5" by 11" dry erase board is basically a No-Frills magnetic dry erase board. I'm glad that they even make dry erase boards in this size because it's nice and portable. It's nice that it comes with 2 magnets and a dry erase marker included. As far as the build materials are concerned, I think they could've made it a little more resilient. The plus side is that it's very light since it's made from lightweight plastic and has a inner core of cardboard. Build materials aside, this dry erase board works well for what it is and is affordably price. I'd recommend it to anyone who needs a nice, usable, 'no frills' 8.5" x 11" dry erase board.

4.0 out of 5 stars No frills silver magnetic dry-erase board... Like the size and metallic surface, March 20, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This small dry erase board has a nice metallic (and magnetic) surface. I like the size of this dry erase board and was planning to put it on my fridge. However, I thought the backing would be magnetic as well so I could just hang it (magnetically) on the fridge without using adhesives. This is not the case, which was a bit disappointing. Also, the marker that came with it was already dry even though it was brand new. My third minor issue is that the magnets that came with it are not very strong. These are all minor gripes but I think they could've spent a little more time with design and increasing build quality. Overall, it's not a bad product. It gets the job done and the novelty of having a metallic dry erase board is cool. It's nice that it came with a marker and magnets...even if the marker I got was already dry.

4.0 out of 5 stars An attractive and comfortable case for the Galaxy S4, March 20, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This Blue Thule Gauntlet Galaxy S4 case is pretty nice case for the Galaxy S4 and provides a medium level of protection. It feels pretty nice in hand and the port cut-outs are well thought out. Build quality is good and it seems pretty resilient. My only small complaint is that the case is a bit thick in the back and the front lip could be extruded past the screen a bit more to offer a bit more protection for the screen. Overall though, this case is built well and an attractive option.
Below are the Pros and Cons of the case for your quick reference :
Pros
-Well Built. The materials seem resilient and built to last
-Attractive. The fit and finish of the case is nice.
-Comfortable in hand. The back texture is very nice and adds a bit of grip
-All port cut-outs are designed well... So access to ports are good.

Cons:
-This case seems thicker (in the back) than it needs to be.
-The screen's front lip (that extends past the screen) could be more substantial and extrude further to provide better protection to screen in case of drop.

5.0 out of 5 stars A nice 2.5" drive at a great price, February 20, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This Toshiba 2.5" may not be the fastest traditional hard drive (it's a 5400 RPM drive) and it's definitely much slower than the SSD drives you can get on the market right now, but at this price... it's really a bargain. Say what you will about traditional hard drives but they are still the most cost-effective and reliable form (in my humble opinion) of internal memory you can get when you factor in how much capacity you get for your money. So if you don't need blazing read/write speeds, I think they are still the best option for the average consumer. With that said, this drive is a good one because it's quiet, has a 3-year warranty, and is affordable. And because Toshiba has been making hard drives for a really long time, it should be pretty reliable too. It's the perfect drive for someone who needs to upgrade an older laptop with more hard-drive capacity. 1TB should be more than enough for the average person. If you're looking for a really fast hard drive for your brand new high end laptop, I wouldn't recommend this drive... I'd recommend you get an SSD (solid state) hard drive.

4.0 out of 5 stars Vast array of features available but not very user friendly., February 20, 2014
This review is from: Nero 2014 Platinum (CD-ROM)
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Nero Platinum 2014 has a staggering amount of features available. It has been a few years since I've used Nero but the previous versions I've used pretty much just had the primary functions of burning media (CDs, DVDs). This Platinum version lets you do pretty much everything you'd want to do relating to various forms of media in general. For example, in addition to burning functions, it also lets you play and transcode video files. It comes with a built in Blu-ray/DVD player and video conversion functions. It also has a media player module that finds all types of media on your computer so you can organize and play from your library of audio and video files on your computer.

It's nice to have such a vast array of features included in one software package but it becomes a bit overwhelming to use because the program itself is separated into different modules (programs) which have their own short-cuts on your desktop. It can be a little daunting to find which program you need to use for your specific purpose. After I installed the program, I had about 5 or 6 different shortcuts on my desktop that were all different functions from Nero. I can't help but think there is a better way to consolidate all these functions within one program and improve upon the user interface, because it's not very user friendly. If you're accustomed to using complex programs, this shouldn't be much of a concern for you. But for the average consumer, I think this program is overkill and would be very difficult for such a person to use. For example, even the "easy" and "basic" module called "Nero Express" (which I would recommend for the average user to start with) that is included within this program is hard to find and doesn't have it's own shortcut. I think it's kind of laughable that the one shortcut that should be separate from the main program actually doesn't have it's own shortcut and only seems to be accessible through opening the main Nero Burning module shortcut. Other than overly complex user interface design issues, the functions within this program seem to work well and it is actually really nice to have so many functions included in the program. For advanced users, I would highly recommend this Platinum version.

Pros:
-Staggering array of features included in this program.

Cons:
-Features are separated into many diffferent shortcuts and the user interface is not very 'user friendly'. For the average consumer, this program would be a little overwhelming.

4.0 out of 5 stars A teacup that is nice to the touch, February 10, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
The "KAHLA Touch Five Senses 1-Piece Teacup with Slot" is a nicely sized teacup and feels nice in my hand. The red velvety surface texture of the teacup does feel nice too. The slit in the cup is a nice design touch which lets you hang a tea bag on the side of the cup.

Although the manufacturer states that the teacup is dishwasher safe... I'm not completely convinced that the velvet surface would fare well in the dish-washer. My gut tells me that the red surface will rub off in the dishwasher but I'm tempted to test it just to satisfy my curiosity. I'll update this review if and when I decide to put it to the (dishwasher) test. Otherwise, I have really no complaints with this tea-cup. It's quite functional and does feel nice to the touch. The ceramic quality and color (glaze) could be fancier, but those are things that you should consider before purchase anyways... not afterwards. If you drink a ton of tea, this teacup could be a nice (modern) addition to your teacup collection.
