5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC elvis book to add to your collection!!!, July 23, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
george first met elvis in the 8th grade in 1948. they casually become friends and over the next few years, become better friends as elvis's music career starts taking off (george also worked as radio dj in memphis during this time).

lots of fun and great elvis stories told with such class!! my fave elvis story george tells is when elvis is still making a name for himself in memphis and george is still working as a local dj. george would read off the next few songs on the air and say something like 'this is dj-uh-gk' *george's initials*. when elvis would see george around town, elvis would call george 'dj uh' LOL!!! that alone cracked me up!

there's also great pics from george's own collection in the book and i esp. love the elvis stories from the early days @ humes. george should consider doing a movie from his book! vh1 movie, hallmark movie...anything!! but great book! i highly recommend it :)

couldn't put the book down!! i read about 150 pages in just 1 day! for someone who's always been such a private person, she basically 'tells all' in this book. not hiding anything, i don't want to give too much away....but lots of personal things about her parents that would surprise just about all of her longtime and loyal fans. talks about what it was like meeting mutt, the incredible musical success she experienced and then finding mutt was leaving her for another woman.

but i have to say, shania criticizes the 'other woman' for seducing mutt, but it takes two to tango, in my opinion and mutt was a big boy who knew exactly what he was doing. there were some things shania chose not to discuss: her biological father's entrance into her life after she became a success (and unsuccessfully tried to sue for something like $10mil) and also her brother's mishaps with the canadian police (some kind of drug bust).

but overall, a FANTASTIC book, i've bought this book twice and gave the other one away as a gift. if you want to know shania's life story told by shania herself :), have a day off and just be prepared to read the whole book without putting it down. it's THAT good! and hands down, one of the best autobiographies i've ever read! highly recommend to anyone!!

5.0 out of 5 stars takes you right back to 1984!!, May 5, 2016

AMAZING album, no wonder it was #1 for something like 6 mos. in 1984! the classic hits are still timeless gems: 'let's go crazy', 'purple rain' (the best track on the album!), when doves cry....but i esp. love 'i would die for you', 'take me with you' and 'baby i'm a star.' lots of early 80s synthesizers on many of the songs...but overall, great album from start to finish. and on the song 'purple rain', you can just feel the passion in that song with that guitar solo! prince made a timeless, classic album that sounds as fresh today as it did in 1984. highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars PRINCE ROCKS!!!!, April 30, 2016
This review is from: Ultimate Prince (Audio CD)
i bought this over @ barnes, couldn't wait for amazon LOL! FANTASTIC collection of his greatest hits!!! timeless classics like 'i wanna be your lover', '1999', 'when the doves cry', 'purple rain', 'diamonds and pearls' (my fave prince jam of all time! lots of great pics of prince over the years incl. in the cd booklet. talk about taking you right back to the 70s, 80s and 90s & when prince was huge on mtv.

my only critique would be that there are some re-mixes to songs like 'let's go crazy,' 'little red corvette.' but, this and 'the very best of' are fantastic collections to have. prince was way ahead of the times (1999, back in 1982??) and he wrote, produced and played almost all of the instruments on just about all the songs show how passionate he was about his music. so, if you've been a long time fan, too young the first time around, or just discovering his music, this is a great collection to own!

5.0 out of 5 stars wrongly accused teacher trumps all charges!!! justice prevails!!, March 20, 2016
i bought this book @ barnes...i didn't know too much about this case, i'm on the other side of the country, but i love reading true crime novels and decided to get the book. all i gotta say: what a powerful story!! tonya is a newly moved in resident of a small town and accepts a kindergarten teaching job there. the principal warns her (the principal also is a transplant resident) how the small town operates and advises tonya not to move there, work there, but don't live there. tonya takes it in, but decides to move there, the principal later leaves that town and tonya settles into her new life in that small town (long name, hard to spell LOL!)

as time goes on, tonya disciplines two girls @ her (tonya's daughter) bday party and the two moms suddenly turn into the moms from hell! one of those same girls was recommended to have more time to prepare for advancing to the 1st grade (& tonya's recommendation) and the mom is rubbed the wrong way over it. next thing you know: tonya is arrested and is later charged with 22 counts of child molestation!! and the sad thing: when you read the parts of the girls' taped interviews, these same 'victims' still 'aren't sure' and deny any wrongdoing from tonya. but that's still considered hard evidence to charge tonya with all 22 counts. same goes for michael jackson: his accuser's taped interview basically said the same things 'not sure' and 'didn't know'...how can so-so confessions like that be accepted by law enforcement??? if the accuser 'doesn't remember' or 'isn't sure'....how is law enforcement so sure??

i'm currently @ the part where they're in trial and the moms and kids (incl. tonya's daughter) tell contradicting stories, get dates and scenarios wrong according to their taped interviews. i won't spoil the ending :D i think everyone pretty much knows how the case will result in. but it's also too bad there's no real punishment when someone makes false allegations and i'm sooo glad tonya told her story!!! powerful story!! you can't put the book down and can't believe how the legal system and law enforcement can be so biased and one-sided. i'm very sorry tonya & her family had to go thru this, but sometimes we get challenges in life and hopefully something positive will come out in the end.

1.0 out of 5 stars &...where are they now???, October 25, 2015
i remember this book back in 1987 and there's no way elvis is the biological father. for one thing: this 'daughter' has green eyes and elvis's were blue and the 'mom' had brown eyes. it's genetically impossible for this 'daughter' to have green eyes and neither of her parents has the same eye color. not only that, this 'mom' got too many details about memphis and his life from esp. the early years wrong...i mean, where are they now LOL!!! also, anyone note that this book came out right before the 10th anniversary of elvis's passing?? no doubt, in 1987 all types of elvis merchandise would be huge sellers and that's all this book was...to cash in on the hoopla and to prob. pressure his estate to settle with them to go away. i guarantee the publishing company prob. had the manuscript done and just paid two jane doe dummies to go along with the story. this was nothing but a crock of bull...and since both of them have been under a rock for 28 years should tell the rest of the world something. lying just don't pan out ;) george klein (1 of elvis's closest friends and epe spokesman to this case) has difused this 'mom' and 'daughter''s claims...none of it was true. again, where are they now? ;)

then get this one and their 1st album 'here's to the good time's. i'm a huge fan of fgl and the 2nd album is also a rockin' awesome country album just like the 1st one :). i esp. love 'anything goes', 'bumpin' the night', 'good, good', 'sun daze', 'dirt', 'like you ain't even gone'. basically, just like the 1st album, just non-stop great rockin' country music. if you're a fan of country music, fgl sure don't disappoint ;). i highly recommend both of their albums, even the deluxe versions. the whole album, just like the first one, is great, fun country music to listen to from the 1st track all the way to the end ;). this album is just as good as shania's 'come on over' or the dixie chicks' 'fly' album...and those were some great country albums from back in the day. def. get it :)

this album is chock full of good, fun country music!!! i haven't loved a country album in it's entirety since gretchen wilson's 'here for the party' or back in the day of shania and the dixie chicks :). cruise is def. my jam, but the whole album is jammin' with great country music :) i highly recommend: 'round here', 'it'z just what we do' {crazy hot track!}, 'tip it back', 'dayum, baby', and 'tell me how you like it'. i'm gonna try and get the deluxe version, but this entire album is great to listen to while you're 'cruisin' ;) in your car or want some good, fun country music to listen to ;).

5.0 out of 5 stars gotta give a shout out to my girls for a solid, crazy hot album!!! :), February 12, 2015

picked up the deluxe edition here on amazon because of the guest track with meghan trainor & i'm so glad i did!! some of the bonus tracks are my very faves on the entire album!! well, if you like their singles: boss and sledgehammer, check out: everlasting love, like mariah, them girls be like, reflection and body rock. 'body rock' is by far my very fave on the album (deluxe track)...so i'm listening to the song and it has such an 80s vibe to it, and then i'm reading the credits and it has a portion of 'i've had the time of my life' from the dirty dancing soundtrack & that was a huge #1 smash back in the 80s. 'body rock' is the #1 smash on the album ;) i highly recommend simon cowell making that track an upcoming single...perfect for u.s. radio and esp. for the summer. i've enjoyed the album so much, i'm picking up an extra copy as a gift...def. a proud harmonizer here and i wish the girls nothing but the best :)

5.0 out of 5 stars heartache, passion and thrilling emotion!!!, January 18, 2015
i picked up his cd over @ walmart a few days ago and i've been listening to it non-stop!!! what an incredible piece of work!! his 1st two singles 'stay with me' and 'i'm not the only one' are very good, but i also recommend 'lay me down', 'i've told you now' and esp. 'make it to me'. that last song took my breath away!! it's like you're right there in the studio with sam, you can just feel all the emotion in that song. talk about pouring your heart and soul in your music...you really do feel and hear it all throughout the album. he's one amazing artist and this album certainly doesn't disappoint ;)
