5.0 out of 5 stars Take your dog outside to try these, March 7, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've used boots for years on my standard poodles since we walk long distances every night. If there's snow in the street, they are wearing these. They no longer stop, holding up a paw or two that are frozen.

When you first try them out on your dog, he will walk around the house like he's got something stuck to his foot. Once they are outside, the dog will walk normally.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice to hook up to trash can, December 1, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The main reason I purchased this was the hook up to trash can. I don't use a blower very much, but vacuum a lot. It's much easier to vacuum up leaves without having to carry all the weight on your shoulder. The position of the vacuum is better, too, since you don't have to hold it vertically to suck up the debris.

It's nice to be able to switch between blower and vacuum without taking everything apart.

It does take up more storage space than my old Toro electric, but my back no longer aches after vacuuming for an hour.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quiet, much better filtering, July 31, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I owned a Petmate fountain that needed complete disassembly every 2-3 weeks for cleaning. It would suck hair, dust bunnies, food bits directly into the pump since the filter was inline AFTER the pump. As the water flow slowed, the water would get slimy and stinky. Cleaning was an ordeal that required a test tube brush, Lime A Way, and lots of time.

I tried a Drinkwell Big Dog Fountain but found the splashing and much louder pump too noisy in the kitchen.

The Dog It runs almost silently (except when the dog is slurping up water) and hasn't clogged yet. Its design is far simpler with no nooks/crannies to get crudded up with debris. A great product at half the price of the Big Dog Fountain!

2.0 out of 5 stars Outdated information, March 28, 2012
With our first child entering college soon, we purchased 2-3 scholarship books. I was drawn to this one since the authors claims to have paid for their entire education with scholarships.

However, the information is out of date. Using the companion website with the book only leads to dead links.

Most telling is THEIR OWN SCHOLARSHIP, which is still listed in the book, but hasn't been offered in two years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, fast to set up, January 9, 2012
Works on a wide variety of knives and is extremely easy to use. Takes seconds to change the belts (say, from sharpening to honing). It's so easy that I will actually use it and stop trying to cut with dull knives.

2.0 out of 5 stars Some valid info, but cost estimates way too low, June 18, 2011
I put myself through college starting at 32, being the sole breadwinner with a wife and kids at home. I agree that big sacrifices are absolutely necessary to get a degree without a six figure loan.

One part of the book I disagree with is the bargain basement pricing Mr. Bissonette uses to calculate how you and your offspring can get a degree, actually having a surplus in your savings account when complete. State colleges in Michigan have increased tuition over 125% over the past ten years, making them about double the cost he used in the book. Add to that the stingy merit scholarships: Michigan State offers $800(!) for incoming freshman to their homors college. That wouldn't get a semester's worth of books.

Another point I disagree with is his insistence that private schools cost too much. The private schools will let your child in with an ACT score of 17, but you will pay full list price. If your child is a high achiever, like mine are, the total cost of tuition/room/board can be the same as the public schools. Don't automatically rule the private colleges out.

1.0 out of 5 stars This thing is really as bad as all the other reviews say it is, April 25, 2006
I purchased a GPS500 for geocaching, mainly attracted by the low price and "FAST" acquistion feature. Screen resolution is terrible, acquisition times vary from 6 minutes to never, accuracy (compared to friends' GPS units) was way off, and it proved to be utterly unreliable in the field. I returned mine 10 days after I bought it and got a Garmin eTrex Legend. I am now quite pleased.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as Good as Last Edition, July 30, 2003
I'm a big fan of the previous book (FP 2000 Dev. Guide). This book doesn't go much further than old edition, which is disappointing. It would be a great book for beginners except it has an annoying amount of typos in the book's example code and in the code on the included CD-ROM.
