5.0 out of 5 stars Great expansion for Mage the Awakening, January 10, 2010

This book is one of the more popular supplements to expand the mage rpg line. It presents rules for allowing mage characters to enter the astral worlds of mage. It also helps storytellers to run stories based on the fantastical realms of the universal subconscious.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best version of Watchmen on Blu-ray yet, January 2, 2010
I got this for christmas from as I am an avid fan of Alan Moore's Watchmen. One of the distinctive features of this version to all the other dvd releases is that this one contains all the deleted/bonus scenes in the main cut of the movie as well as the short animated "Tales from the Black Freighter". It views alot more like the graphic novel than the theatrical or the extended cuts. What this means is that this movie is long. I think it works greatly, however, and gives this cut a sense of completeness. I highly recommend this for the true/avid Watchmen fans, not for the casual viewer. The entire extended cut with Tales from the Black Freighter fit in a single disc, leaving the other disc to contain the special features, which is a really nice touch. It also comes with a digital copy (for those who like that) and the entire "Under the Hood" dvd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best console I've played on, December 2, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Not much to say other than this is the best console I've played on, far surpassing PS3 and Wii in terms of playability, library of games and graphics/sound quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning!, December 1, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
I just bought an XBox360 Elite and this is the first game I've played on my new console. Absolutely addictive fun. I am blown away by the life like graphics, the intuitive AI and the free form rpg game style. Highly recommended, particularly if you love historical drama.

The Complete 30 Days of Night
The Complete 30 Days of Night
by Steve Niles
Edition: Hardcover
28 used & new from $0.98

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous edition of the vampire graphic novel that changed the genre, November 20, 2009
I got this for Christmas in '05 and it is probably the most beautiful edition of the core trilogy 30 Days of Night (which is not a film franchise). I wont be talking about the story, (there are plenty of reviews of that here and elsewhere) other than to say its one of the most original takes on the popular vampire mythos of the 21st century. The books are hardcover and over sized, which present the color and artwork in amazing detail. Volume one is signed by both Niles and Templesmith, volumes 2 and 3 are not signed. The slipcase is really sturdy and handsomely illustrated in black. The individual volumes are hardcover and contain added features like the original script, sketches and storyboards. If you are a fan of Niles/Templesmith's 30 Days of Night this is a must have collection, if you can find it for less than $150.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Night Horrors book for Mage the Awakening, November 13, 2009
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
In the fine tradition of the world of darkness Night Horrors books, this one incorporates some decent antagonists for your Mage chronicle. I cannot believe I already got this through amazon, particularly since its not scheduled to be released until March 2010. It contains:

Mages and groups:
The Golden Quorum, a cabal of abyssal mages
Brother Ben, messianic leader of the Quorum cabal;
Wildcat, a witch that has attained immortality as a lich;

Creatures and magical families:
Ab Ia Mu, sanctum guardian automaton;
The Fury, a mage who styles herself after the Greek Furies of legend;
Gnomon, something that should not be;
The Lucid, a Sleepwalker family that has inherited insight and madness;
The Ludin Sisters, the remnants of a German mage's quest for revenge;
Madame La Tourre, a Vodoun priestess/goddess who hungers for magic and lives in New Orleans;
Metathron, a renagade messenger of Fate that delivers prophecies and detroys those who do not live to their heroic destinies;
Michael Wschsler, a collector of artifacts following the orders of a long dead master;
Pellax, a familiar in service for generations to an ancient magical family;
The Ravaged, living nightmares that punish Sleepers' acts of Hubris;
Shard Crows, a spirit from the Shadow, taking the shape of a murder of crows, hungering for mage soulstones;

Constructs & Objects:
A slew of them, notably the Arkhitekton, the clockmaker Ashar Arif and the Tick Tock Soldiers. Also an Imperial artifact forged from the soul of an Archmaster, called the Elder Shard.
Somnia Draconis, Atlantean golems;
The Die of Destiny (a 20 sided artifact);
A Fear-Powered iphone of Hell;
Mind of the Exarch (the Supernal Wind);

Magical conditions and infections (like the Abyssal Imprint) and other sundry magical viruses.

Magical Places:
The Dream Computer of Ashward Heights;
Byebury Henge (the Groaning Stones);
The Alumni of Franklin High

5.0 out of 5 stars The vampire western that is *not* Twilight, November 11, 2009
This review is from: Near Dark [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Yeah, people will see the cover of the new Blu-Ray release of the 1987 cult vampire western and invariably draw comparisons to Twilight. It's not. This is a new cleaned up, HD 1080 re-release of Near Dark. It does not contain as many features as the 2002 DVD release, but it does have:

Commentary with Katheryn Bigelow
Living in Darkness: Making of Near Dark documentary (47 minutes long)
Deleted Scenes with Commentary by Bigelow
5.1 DTS-HD

I dont own the original 2002 DVD release, but based on comparisons this has much crisper sound and picture than the original, so I have purchased this one. Shop around for best price (although Amazon has the second lowest price available right now, next to Wal-Mart).

5.0 out of 5 stars A life-defining graphic novel, November 2, 2009
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Once in a while you pick up and read a graphic novel series that absolutely changes your life. This is one of them. Along with other graphic novels like Watchmen, Sandman and V for Vendetta, this series of 7 graphic novels chronicles the adventures of a group (or cabal) of mystick modern-day sorcerers. It is a journey into modern-day occult practices, anarchy, time-travel, sado-masochism, deviant sexuality, transgenderism, anti-capitalism, anti-monotheism, ancient religions, alien abductions, magical-hermetic praxis, LSD and protoplasmic-alien horrors from the beyond. I promise you its unlike anything you've ever read before. I wont belabor this review other than pick it up at your local comic book shop and if you like it, invest in buying all the collected graphic novels. Word of warning: this is not for juveniles or children. This is very much an adult comic book.

1.0 out of 5 stars A huge disapointment, November 2, 2009
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Otherworld: Book One (Paperback)
I purchased this thinking it would compare to the graphic novel series The Invisibles which is drawn by the same artist. Unfortunately, it is very disapointing. It has great artwork but really sub-standard writing and plot development. The characters are amateurish and lack depth and the writing is lackluster.

Avoid this and get Gran Morison's The Invisibles, which is also drawn by the same artist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for Blood + fans, November 2, 2009
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is disc 2 of the hit anime TV show Blood +
It has more of the soundtrack of the anime TV show (not the movie Blood: the Last Vampire). This is the perfect companion to the two part box sets (the black and red box sets which contain all of the TV anime episodes). It even fits perfectly in those box sets.

Again, this is the soundtrack to the anime *TV* show, not the anime movie its based on.
