5.0 out of 5 stars Loudspeakers, June 13, 2014
I don't recommend loudspeakers. You may burn up the amp. The reason might be the nonapparent? DMP! You may try 3x85W peak to peak semi-loud speakers.

5.0 out of 5 stars High-Current Capability, May 23, 2014

Seems unique to HK, the high-current capability. Its optic scanner posseses high-current capability. Some CD recordings of high output may burn out the optic scanner of CD player. Hoping this exotic brand turns back to market as well the models.

5.0 out of 5 stars I don't know, April 3, 2013
Perhaps nothing will come out with a reasonable marketing price better than Exotic AVR 5.1. Let's keeping it on shelf with the hope of more advance in understanding spinors and twist(e)ors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Symetrical, March 1, 2013
A wonderful design possesing supersymetry like sphere or space. Definitely wondering the modulations of amplitudes (current) AM and frequencies (voltage) FM. Wish to had some more ears! Yet I believe it will sound rather different at each seat of the room or saloon for both tastes: Digital (split constant current) and analog (split constant frequency). In both cases AM and FM will take place simultanously yet sounding rather different at each part of the room or saloon. Definitely for large families enjoying altogether. But one should be very careful about the selection of impedance of each speaker, as indicated 4-8 Ohms. Feeling it should have the most sophisticated DMP ever invented.

Looks nice when not used semi-precious stones, such as diamonds and other colored diamonds, red to green, by the minerals in their carbon constitutions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hoping Sounds Different Than Knowns., February 8, 2013
Seems digital coaxial inputs allowed. Again 1 twin of JBL830 (interior) and 1 twin JBL810 (exterior or satellite) needed for serial connection of offcenter speakers while 1 center twin (JBL830) to be connected serial in itself. Hoping DMP reset (bridge connectivity) works for HK/HD990 as well.

Might be better it's use for LCD screens which have coaxial inputs. I'm not much familiar to audio-video systems. Yet for football, need an invention of coaxial inputs of blu-rays to plasmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Configuration, January 26, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ordered this item for an integrated configuration of HK/HD990 and HK3490. I connected this twin speakers to HK3490 serial (+--+) from Speaker System 1 and HK/HD990 coaxial by setting bridge inputs from the front panel of HK3490. It was allowed. Appeared to be a wonderful integrated system. Max performance was given when dB is 0. Yet seemed to me this peak to peak output exceeded 300W peak to peak of each speakers. Distortion took place for low frequencies. It sounded best to my ears when output had -4dB. -3dB was also fine. There was no problem with decoders and the heat of both HK3490 and speakers. But I observed, of course according to me, somewhat overheating of the 20W power suppy of HK/HD990, was about 50C. Perhaps a higher power output for its supply may solve this problem. There was no problem with lazer. I don't recommend the use of 4 Ohm speakers for this configuration. Especially my marine cat Bat loved the way it sounds and felt sleepy, perhaps because of very low distortion (noise) in the system. Another good thing about connection adaptors of this pair is that they can be easily connected serial externally in an obvious way to rise up impedance of the pair confuguration 16 Ohms, yet to sound mono. Such a serial connection may also be used for center channel of AVR 5.1s if allowed by DMP. As well, you can make this connection from HK3490 through Speaker System 2 as in Speaker System 1. DMP allows it as well. However this time situation is different. HK3490 gets overheated while the heating problem is solved for HK/HD990. If HK/HD990 is over HK3490, this time the heat rising up from HK3490 overheating HK/HD990. Nevertheless, if you put a good stylish heat isolation between them, preferably a large heavy metal by leaving some space among both, it also solves overheating of HK/HD990 caused by the heat coming from HK3490 and some of HK3490 itself. For the latter confuguration, overheating of HK3490 seems normal to me, remembering gitar amplifiers.
