THE ASSISTANTS by Camille Perri is the hilarious tale of a struggling personal assistant who takes advantage of an opportunity to get herself out of debt, a plan that works perfectly ... until a coworker finds out about it and wants in on the action. Tina Fontana has to deal with covering up her dabblings in Robin Hoodesque embezzlement and keep her partners in crime in line while at the same time keeping her new boyfriend from finding out the truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heart warming story about three generations of women, January 26, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Christmas Grace by Leslie Lynch is a heart-warming novella that takes place during the holidays. The story focuses on three generations of women, each faced with their own problems as Christmas approaches. The family dynamics ring true for the widowed grandmother trying to spice up her golden years, Ellen stuck in a less than blissful marriage as she watches out for her aging mother and expecting daughter, and the pregnant daughter/granddaughter faced with a risky delivery while her husband is overseas.

I read this in December, but think it will make a great read for any time of the year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book for kids of all age, January 26, 2016
This review is from: Fuzzy Buzzy's Treasure (Paperback)
Fuzzy Buzzy's Treasure by Misty Baker is wonderful story for kids of all ages. The story is about a bee who needs to learn a lesson about sharing after she finds a pretty field of wildflowers she wants to keep all to herself. The illustrations are beautiful and the story provides young readers/listeners with educational information about bees and ecology. My youngest daughter got this book from Santa, and I'm sure it's one we'll read over and over in the coming years.

Nicholas Petrie's THE DRIFTER is a thriller about a vet, Peter Ash, who served in Afghanistan and comes home dealing with PTSD. The white static in his head makes it impossible for him to spend much time indoors, so when he sets out to make repairs on his late friend's wife' house, he sleeps in his truck in her driveway. The things he finds in the crawlspace under her house turn everything upside down, and Ash takes it on himself to find who is responsible, and save his friend's family from the fallout.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspense amping up to thriller level, January 26, 2016
This review is from: Until You're Mine (Hardcover)
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
UNTIL YOU'RE MINE by Samantha Hayes is a great page turner. Someone is terrorizing pregnant women by committing horrendous murders as they try to cut babies out of the womb. But who could commit such horrific crimes?

Claudia is happily married with twin step-sons and a baby on the way. Since her husband is off on a military mission as her due date approaches, she hires a nanny to help out. Zoe is big help around the house and with the boys, but seems to have an agenda of her own, and a mentally unstable ex-roommate. Claudia works for social services and is horrified when detectives tell her she was case manager for one of the pregnant victims. This tale of suspense amps up to thriller level as the story progresses. A highly-recommended book for readers of suspense and thrillers.

5.0 out of 5 stars A chilling tale a girl gone missing on Halloween, September 18, 2015

This review is from: Today's the Day (Kindle Edition)
"Today's the Day" is a gripping story about a cop searching for a little girl who goes missing on Halloween. A missing child is every parent's worse nightmare, and the reader feels the emotional connection between Galloway, little Trisha, and her dad. The author uses chilling elements that remind me of Stephen King, and her bad guy could certainly go up against Pennywise any day! Part horror, part thriller, this twisted tale of trick-or-treating gone horribly wrong is an awesome read.

The book wasn't exactly as I expected from the blurb. It was a bit confusing, despite the writer's talent, and lacked the humor I'd hoped for.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Tod Wodicka's THE HOUSEHOLD SPIRIT is about two people who live across the road from each other. Virtual strangers, fate seems to draw Howie and Emily together in a most unlikely friendship. Emily is the same age as his adult daughter and has emotional problems dealing with her grandfather's death. Howie is divorced, relatively happily with his solitary existence, and dreams of buying a boat.

Howie notices Emily's erratic behavior from afar, but it's not until she attempts to burn her house down that these two start a friendship that will change both their lives.

4.0 out of 5 stars The book touches on some dark issues but is really very funny overall., September 3, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
In Melanie Sumner's novel, HOW TO WRITE A NOVEL, we see 12-year-old Aris struggle with her goal of writing a novel in thirty days as she deals with her wacky family life. She helps take care of her little brother and insists on helping her mom--whether she wants the help or not--with her social life as well as grading the homework of her college English students. And then there's her grandparents who mean well but get on her mother's last nerve. Aris wears her late father's hat while she pens her novel, as instructed by the latest how-to book on the subject.

Even though the main character is a pre-teen, the novel is geared toward adults. The book touches on some dark issues but is really very funny overall.
