3.0 out of 5 stars Great product but suffers from capacitor plague, December 17, 2010
I've used two of these and while it works - it's great!

Like others have written in their comments, the product ceases to work after a limited amount of uses. I've read other reviews that said the motors are weak and stop working and that Homemedics made a shoddy product, but I posit that they really don't know what they're talking about.

After this one stopped working I pulled it apart to determine what the problem was; I had a hunch that, at least in my case, I have now been able to verify.

The device appears to suffer from a failure known as "capacitor plague." This is not the fault of it's design or manufacturing process, but of defective capacitors likely made by Taiwanese electrolyte manufacturers that stole an incomplete formula for them. Many products suffer from this problem including, from low-end devices to high-end (and expensive) devices such as Apple Mac products. Identifying defective capacitors before failure is an almost impossible task.

The markings of the capacitor that has failed in mine are MEF 1553 230v - I am unable to locate a suitable replacement because I can't find a spec sheet for it. If anyone can shed some light on where I can get a replacement, please let me know.

I would still recommend this product and would venture to guess that these types of problems will reduce in frequency as has been seen across the electronic industry in general (as the defective capacitors are mostly out of circulation according to some).

I would rate the product higher since I don't consider Homemedics to be the reason the product fails prematurely, but a consumer product failing is still a consumer product failing.

4.0 out of 5 stars So very close to being 5-stars!, July 16, 2010
I've been using the iPod Touch 32GB (3rd gen) for 6 months now and have very little to complain about given what it is, and I would have given it 5-stars if would have included one little feature: a built in microphone.

As with anything Apple, this device (and coding for it) is fairly restrictive compared to industry "norms." Unlike developing for other platforms, to develop an application for my current favorite portable device I would (at a minimum) need to shell out money for a Mac (Apple-branded PC and experience) and a developer license - easily between $1,000 and $1,500 for a moderate setup. That sucks when I already have a powerhorse of a desktop machine, and a good laptop, that are capable of running Snow Leopard (but can't because of the EULA).

That said, I love the device.

In general, I like the improvements that came with upgrading to iOS 4 - but certain apps like Facebook, Bing and even the Apple built-in Maps feel glitchy. Without iOS 4 I would have subtracted a star because being able to run Pandora in the background is pretty important to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent production quality, March 30, 2008
Finding Faith in Christ is an excellent production quality wise.

The content is of course pro-Christian; establishing Jesus as the Christ - the Savior and Redeemer of mankind - is the central tenet of this short film.

Christians will no-doubt find it interesting, while others will probably find it boring and nothing more than an extremely well produced short movie highlighting and advocating the Man that stands at the center of Christianity.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!, March 19, 2008

What can I say but... grindhouse?!

This is a move that you take with a grain of salt. It's humorous, it's juvenille, and it's oh so entertaining!

My favorite part has to be the orgy going on on-stage at a club where they're retelling the biblical story of Lot and his wife. Shocking - but great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great movie, September 22, 2007
This review is from: Prototype (DVD)
Prototype is a great movie, despite the lack of (or the need for) the typical sci-fi special effects we've come to expect. The story line is solid and meaningful.

The DVD cover-art is a little misleading in the sense that it brings to mind such epic movies like "Terminator" - it's a marketing gimmick (IMO) that works - it's what got me to pick up the movie in the first place.
