5.0 out of 5 stars Mind Candy for the Curious Person, April 2, 2002
This review is from: Popular Science (Magazine)
"Popular Science" is one of the few magazines that I have a subscription to. This magazine is mind candy for the curious perosn. It informs the reader on new inventions, newsfronts, automobiles, aviation, medicine, and almost every other aspect of science. One of my favorite sections of this informative and fun magazine is the "Newsfronts" section. Here you are informed of current things that are happening in the scientific world whether it be medicine or physics.
"Popular Science" would make a great gift for a friend, family member, or yourself. This magazine will feed the craving that many people get when they are craving information. Order a subscription to this magazine and discover why everybody is raving about this being the best scientific magazine in- print. I recommend this magazine to somebody that is interested in science and would like to get a broad scope of scientific information in a great magazine.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Program, March 31, 2002
When I got my computer back from the shop and realized that all of my Microsft Office programs were taken off, I was devastated. I didn't want to buy a new computer to get all of the programs that I had wanted so there was one thing to do. I bought this program. Never have I bought a program that was so easy to install and operate. With Microsft XP Standard for Students and Teachers you get four office programs. They are Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Power Point.
You receive three discs when you get this. One is to install the programs, one is to download content for each program, such as clip art, and the last disc is to train you so you are able to learn how to operate each of the programs. I use the last disc often. Once you install the discs you must either activate your programs through the internet or over the phone. After that, you are the owner and operator of four wonderful and extremely helpful Micrsoft Office programs.
This set is specifically designed for students and teachers and if you are not on of the two you should go with a general set of these programs. This ste is great for a student or teacher that uses the computer for graphs, typing, spreadsheets, etc. This is the best way to go if you want to get all four of these Microsoft Office products. This is very simple to use and if you have any problems you can use one of the given discs so you can learn how to operate the programs. I really recommend this product. It is very ehlpful and will be used a lot. Get this and our computer work will be much easier.
Happy Computing!!!

American Pie 2 (Unrated Widescreen Collector's Edition)
American Pie 2 (Unrated Widescreen Collector's Edition)
DVD ~ Jason Biggs
Price: $7.21
492 used & new from $0.01

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Sequel!!!, March 30, 2002
"American Pie 2" is the sequel to the movie that basically started the whole entire teen-sex movie category. In this fun and hilarious sequel to the first movie of the same name, Oz, Kevin, Finch, and Jim are on their summer break from college and want to start partying! When Stifler's party gets invaded by the police, they think that their summer will be ruined because they'll have no plave to go and party at. The group of guys, plus Stifler, rent a summerhouse on Lake Michigan. They decide that this will be their party spot where eveything and everybody will go all out.
Amidst all of this, Jim is trying to learn how to be perfect at sex so he can please Nadia when she meets him at the end of the summer. Band-camp girl Michele teaches him the right moves and while he is learning he realizes that she is really the one for him. Oz still loves his highschool girlfriend and deeply misses her while she is in Paris for the summer. Kevin doesn't want to accept that he's not actually dating Vicki anymore, and Finch is getting ready for Stifler's mom.
"American Pie 2" delivers the fun and comedic brilliance of the first movie while keeping you hooked through some great comedy, your favorite characters, and a nudity scene. Whether or not you've seen the first movie you'll still be able to enjoy this. I recommend that you order this movie right away. You'll get laughs-a-plenty and you'll really enjoy yourself while watching this. get this, you'll be glad that you did.
Happy Viewing!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the Book Justice, March 24, 2002
In this adaptation of J.K. Rowling's acclaimed "Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone," Chris Colombus put together a great movie that any fan of the books will love. I was a bit skeptical about seeing this film because I thought that the movie would be done poorly and that I wouldn't end up liking it. I ended up enjoying a lot. Chris Colombus stayed right with the book and didn't change a thing. Never have I seen a director that was making a film out of a book keep the film so real to the original novel. Colombus had some skill to do this movie with such beauty.
The actors chosen for this film were great. I had imagined every character from Harry himself to Hermione all the way to Albus Dumbledore. Each of the actors did such a great job that I am sadenned to see that this film was not nominated for many Academy Awards. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were adroable and no other kids could have done as good as a job as they did. The castle chosen as Hogwarts was great and presented the witchcraft and wizardry school very well.
This movie serves the book very well and most Harry Potter fans will be very pleased with this. I recommend that you pre-order this DVD so you will be able to watch it when it comes out. Everything in this film was done very well and it seemed like the movie was being played off of Rowling's book. Check this movie out; you'll enjoy it!!!
Happy Viewing!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Let the Magic Unfold!, March 24, 2002
Harry Potter has grown from one book to what is now four of some of the most popular fiction books on the planet. There will be a total of seven books in this wonderful series and this is the way to buy the series if you are just getting started. If I were you I wouldn't even bother with the paperback versions as you will re-read these books over the years time and time again.
J.K. Rowling, the acclaimed author of this fabulous series, had no clue that Harry Potter would become what it would be. She started to write the first words of "Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone" on a napkin while having coffee. She wanted to publish a book so she could support herself and her daughter, who were living in deplorable conditions. Because of the fame of these novels that she has written she is one of the wealthiest people on the planet! Now on to the books!
"Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone" is the first book in the projected seven book series. It is here that we learn a little of Harry's history, meet the magical world, are introduced to students and teachers at Hogwarts, and a plethora of other things that will be essential to know later on in the series.
"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" continues the story of Harry Potter. This book, in my opinion, is tied with "Goblet of Fire" for the best in the series because of the awesome suspense and and plot twists. "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" is where we are introduced to Sirius Black, who is a critical person in the series. And finally "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," which I think is the second best of the series, is the most dramatic and is much darker than the previous books of the series. Lord Voldemort is regaining his power in this novel and his whole dark alliance is stirring once again. This book, as stated above, is what I'd say is the best of the series along with the second book.
The hardcover editions that come in this set (the only Harry Potter hardcover books) are absolutely gorgeous. Mary Grandpre who illustrated each book cover is very talented and her work is great.
The Harry Potter is the best young adult fantasy series that is out there today and is definitely worth checking out. There are still three more books that have to be written and if you read these books you will be in suspense like every other Harry Potter fan. This series is recommended and will be loved by all. Read these books, you'll love them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Perfect, March 23, 2002
I was amazed when I left the theater after seeing "The Fellowship of the Ring." Peter Jackson and his crew have done the best job on the classic novel by J.R.R. Tolkien. The scenery, the characters, the geographical locations in New Zealand and everything in this movie was done with such precision and effort that I smiled every time I saw something that I loved in the book actually appear before my eyes. This is easily, in my own opinion, the best quality film that I have ever seen.
Let me get something straight. "The Lord of the Rings" is my all time favorite novel and I was really hoping that Peter Jackson, his crew, and the characters wouldn't screw up on the first part of the best fantasy saga ever written. They didn't. From the first minutes of the film, I was drawn in to the world that I know and love so much. The geographical locations and the sets in New Zealand were breathtaking and were crafted and found oh so well.
The characters that were casted for this movie were the absolute best. Every charcter that was presented in this film was just as I had imagined the charcter from the book. Frodo, Aragron, Gimli, Legolas, and everyone else that played a role in this film did a superb job.
A lot of har work was put into the making of this film and every last drop of it was worth it. The action in this film is like the pages of the actual book just came to life; Peter Jackson really made this movie from the actual book unlike other movies that were originally books.
With the Academy Awards coming up, I truly hope that this film takes home all of the gold. It really deserves it. "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" was probably the best movie I have ever seen in my life. I don't say that just because "The Lord of the Rings" is my all time favorite novel but because of the sheer perfection that came with this movie. I smiled seeing something from the book appear on screen. This is a movie that you'll watch again and again. All in all, totally recommended. I can't wait for this film to come out on DVD and for "The Two Towers" and "The Return of the King" to hit theaters in late 2002 and 2003. Watch this movie, I guarantee that you'll love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, March 21, 2002
At the conclusion of "The Fellowship of the Ring," you are left in suspense and you are craving what's to come next. "The Two Towers" will get you over your suspense a little, but at the end of this second installment of "The Lord of the Rings," you'll be left in more suspense that you were at the conclusion of "Fellowship."
The first half of this book centers on Legolas, Gimli, and Aragorn as they come about a big point in the book that will leave you feeling very happy. Don't worry, I won't tell you what that thing is. The Fellowship still remains split up and some things that you wanted to know at the conclusion of the last book are revealed, as said above. That is as much as I'll tell you for this book because if I tell you anymore the book will be ruined for you.
As in "The Fellowship of the Ring," J.R.R. Tolkien gives you luscious descriptions and phenomonal writing. He goes into some matters that were brought forth in the first book with such skill that only Tolkien could pull off. At the end of this book you will feel a craving to pick up "The Return of the King" right away.
"The Two Towers" is the second book in "The Lord of the Rings" and the best of the first two volumes. Tolkien brings you into his beautiful world that you won't be able to get enough of. Before delving into this, be sure to read "The Fellowship of the Ring" first so you won't feel like you're reading material that makes no sense to you. I recommend this book to a fantasy fan or somebody that is looking for an adventurous, grand fantasy epic. Be sure to read this novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Play, March 19, 2002
This review is from: Driving Miss Daisy (Paperback)
"Driving Miss Daisy" is a play that shows how somebody can overcome their initial reactions towards a situation and how that situation changed their life forever. Thus is the story of Daisy,a Jewish woman living in Atlanta. Her son, Boolie, hires a chauffer to drive her around the city. Hoke, an african american man that Daisy wants to have no relation with, gets the job.
Opening up in the 1950's and running all the way to 1975, this story tells of the growing friendship between Daisy and Hoke. For the first few years Daisy is embarassed to being driven around by a black man but they soon develop a lasting friendship that will last forever.
"Driving Miss Daisy" tells one thing. It tells about changes in people. Daisy was a Jewish women who wanted absolutely no part with Hoke. Throughout the play Alfred Uhry is able to develop on each character from Daisy and Hoke, to the maid Idella, to Daisy's son Boolie, to Boolie's wife, and everybody else that appears. This is a very short play and Alfred Uhry had to have some skill to pull off the awesome character development in this.
"Driving Miss Daisy" is a story of change in people and of true friendship. This play went on Broadway and became a movie. This play won the Pulitzer Prize in Drama and four Academy Awards for the movie. I recommend this play to anybody that would enjoy a touching story of two people that were everything but friends at first who became best friends for life. Pick this play up and you will appreciate this story and the friendship that is depicted in it.

HP 845C DeskJet Printer
HP 845C DeskJet Printer

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Quality Printer, March 17, 2002
The Hewlett Packard DeskJet 845C printer is a great buy for your money. First of all, you are buying a Hewlett packard product and that means one thing- quality. When you are printing in black and white and text documents the printer is very, very fast. When you are printing in color and are printing color pictures it takes the printer a bit longer to fulfill the task. Don't let this make you not want to buy the printer. The printer prints great quality pictures and the printed material has the quality of a manually taken snapshot.
The Hewlett Packard DeskJet 845C printer is my second HP printer and I am very happy with this. The printing quality can't be beat, the speed that the documents that you are printing doesn't take to long to print, and all in all this is a great buy moneywise. I recommend this printer to anybody that is looking for a very good quality printer that doesn't want to spend too much money. This printer will last for a longtime because it is built by Hewlett Packard. This is a great printer and I strongly recommend that you look into buying this. You'll be very glad that you did.
Happy Printing!
