5.0 out of 5 stars Best running socks and U.S. made, October 30, 2014

Thorlo makes the best athletic socks in the world, and they're made in the U.S.
I have had Thorlo socks last nearly 20 years in some cases. These running crew socks maintain the same high standard as always from this trusted manufacturer. Well worth the cost, you are buying more than just a sock with Thorlo, you are buying protection for your feet and preserving your health.

5.0 out of 5 stars Irresistable, September 19, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My entire family loves these and cannot stop eating them. It is scary how fast a 4 pound bag of candy can be consumed! These are fresh, soft, and not at all hardened as can happen with some Goetze candy re-sellers. I have sporadically bought these at retail stores over many years and most often ended up with the older/hardened repackaged types, but finally gave in and bought through Amazon - highly recommend purchasing through Amazon for the resultant freshness and quality.

2.0 out of 5 stars Recommend Goetze discontinue, September 19, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This flavor of the Cow Tale did not appeal to me or anyone in my family. We tried, we really tried, and they're just not that good at all due to the flavor of the artificial apple filling. I am a huge fan/consumer of Goetze Caramel Creams and have reviewed other Goetze products positively, but this product line simply is not worth keeping around and you really have to acquire or have a taste for these.

As far as the product quality, packaging, shipping, etc. - they're fresh and no complaints about that stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great deal for Mini-Cow Tales, September 19, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I shopped around numerous listings of this product in Amazon, and this one was the best deal I could find. Quality better than expected - they were very fresh items, soft, and not hardened at all (sometimes Goetze candies sold be resellers can be).
If you like these, you should also try Goetze Caramel Creams in the 64 ounce size here at Amazon, the original product that these Cow Tales were derived from. Amazon has great prices on all Goetze candies and they're all U.S. made!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bard of Minimalism, June 30, 2009
This review is from: Solar Minimum (MP3 Music)
Cy Curnin presents his third solo-album and this one represents a major departure in sound and style from prior solo work. Cy is still the lead singer of The Fixx, but has created a niche with his ongoing solo work in parallel.

This album is a mature, message-filled journey through concepts and moods that much of us struggle through. The first listen and consecutive listens prove that this will be in my rotation for a long time. Some could call this compilation "mood music" but isn't all music related to memory and mood? You will find some uplifting messages, challenging quotes, poetic feathering, and some interesting and artsy soundscapes within.

However, be prepared for Cy's "naked" approach to much of the album. It is his most personal to date, and if this is your first Cy Curnin CD and you don't own anything (yet) from The Fixx, you may initially be struck by its tone. Cy is heavily minimalist (ironic phrase, I realize). By minimalist - reduce things in your life, get rid of excess, which will make life not just simpler but more enjoyable. This same message was a major theme of "Saved by Zero" which was a big hit for The Fixx in the 80's. It still applies. He also serves as a bard and messenger of warning, offering themes that range from environmental to social.

Highly recommend taking the plunge and buying the entire album -- Cy's work (and The Fixx) have leaned toward "album rock," which is something many have departed from since the 70's. The album follows many similar and complementing themes, blends them together, and is more than filler with a single intended to be ripped out - a work best listened straight through.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worldview analysis - The best out there, April 10, 2009
Whether you are a Christian or not, Dr. Mark Cosgrove's book presents a well argued and researched analysis of most religous Worldviews and how each compete with Christianity.

This book is the basis of Dr. Cosgrove's freshman seminar held at Taylor University. As a former student of Dr. Cosgrove, I was very happy to find this book in print, and have referred to Dr. Cosgrove's analysis many times throughout my adult life. For the lucky few who are able to attend Taylor University, Dr. Cosgrove's class has been a mainstay.

The book has many useful tables that help explain the concepts, and Dr. Cosgrove interrupts the text with challenging questions that are expected to be faced in life. A discussion on terms rounds out the details of each chapter.

For Christian readers, this is not a book you will read and set on the shelf permanently, but instead continually pull out for reference over time. Like the "Armor" described by Paul in the New Testament, this book helps defend the Christian Worldview on an intellectual level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rediscovered Classic, April 3, 2009
This review is from: Hat Trick (Audio CD)
You know those records that you heard when you were too young to place who the band was, but you remember the songs fondly and once you hear them again there's a memory shockwave that hits you? For some of us, Hat Trick was one of those.

For those of us young enough to ignore critics, we simply enjoyed the music.

Now for specifics: the album comes off a bit more polished than America's previous two efforts, and as their third album it is evident they started to hit a stride. The original three are all here on this one, no breakup had occurred yet.

Some don't like their version of Muskrat Love -- I much prefer theirs over the 'hit' version that came later from C&T. If you've never owned this record, there are classic songs here that you haven't heard on the radio, songs that America still plays in concert because they're that good. This is a classic album from a time when albums, not singles, were the way a band made their art.

The Devil We Know: Dealing with the New Iranian Superpower
The Devil We Know: Dealing with the New Iranian Superpower
by Robert Baer

4.0 out of 5 stars Needed perspective on Iran, Iraq, and the Middle East, January 25, 2009
This book would be a 5-star, but Mr. Baer does not provide any references for his numerous claims and quotes. His work as a former CIA analyst certainly involved secretive processes, but now that he is publishing numerous books in a public forum, it would be helpful to have references to confirm or broaden perspective by going to original source.

The book does hit needed points on Iran and Iraq. The idea that Iran has achieved expertise in proxy war is news to most. Westerners tend to discredit the capability of Middle East nations to carry out strategy.

Some reviewers have wrongly criticized Baer's perspective on suicide bombing strategy for Arab Sunni's vice Persian Shia. Baer argues effectively that suicide bombing is only strategic for Persians, and especially for nationalist reasons.

I highly recommend an additional book that mentions Baer - "Invisible Nation" by Quil Lawrence, which is a modern history of Kurds in Iraq and helps show the Kurd perspective of U.S. operations in Iraq.

How to Grow Fresh Air: 50 House Plants that Purify Your Home or Office
How to Grow Fresh Air: 50 House Plants that Purify Your Home or Office

4.0 out of 5 stars A fresh opinion on Fresh Air, January 25, 2009
This book only covers a limited amount of plants, but that is because the author (Dr. Wolverton) only studied a certain number of plants while he worked with NASA on this study. For the plants covered in the book, it is an excellent resource and does give enough information and plant variety to suit basic needs.

I encourage the author to conduct a follow-up study/book that broadens out to cover more plants and get the public even more informed for the long term.

Highly recommend purchasing this book for better knowledge on how to clean up the air in your office, home or other enclosed space. I especially found it interesting to see that certain chemicals such as those released from photocopiers are also able to be "consumed" by certain plants.

The Revolution: A Manifesto
The Revolution: A Manifesto
by Ron Paul

5.0 out of 5 stars A Constitutional reminder for all parties, December 21, 2008
Ron Paul's book is a simple read, and it is best to keep Constitutional arguments simple. The Constitution itself is a simple read, and I found myself opening up the Constitution frequently while reading Paul's book.

This book is one for all U.S. citizens, but should be mandatory reading for all members of the three branches of U.S. government. Timely both in message and intent, from well-argued points on defense of the nation to our monetary policy, Paul's book will challenge you to think outside the box, and then remind you that Constitutional law is well inside the box -- it is us who have moved outside, and we need to get back to a society truly based on abiding to the Constitution.
