3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, October 22, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I got this as a Christmas gift for myself; I train five days a week, currently for 1.5hrs per session (I used to hit the gym in the morning and swim in the afternoon when I bought this).

When I bought this I expected to get a tool to track how much calories I was burning per training session and to check if I was reaching my daily goals. To star I noticed that the Goals system was not as clear and reliable as they presented it. I trained one hour in the morning and one in the afternoon and still was not able to reach the lowest goals they set for you (I will explain what they said about this later). After that I realized that the calorie counter was based on a average (of what I do not know); I was not wearing my polar loop but it still marked some calories burned. After seeing this I decided to contact them. Their answer: The loop by itself is not that accurate, you need the waist band and the point of the loop is to keep people moving (yes, I have the emails to confirm that this is the goal of the loop, so... just running or walking).

So I does not work as expected; I use it as a watch now. It would have been better to get the fitbit. This gets worse when you understand that the motion detector (which tracks activity) is not that accurate. If you do a workout with out moving the wrist that much, basically you are not getting the movement you need to make the tracker move (happens to me a lot). Burpees barely move it, jumping boxes does, running does, pull ups do not... etc...

My suggestion: use this if you run; if not get another one (my dad, mom and one of my brothers use FitBit and laugh at my loop), plus if you use any sort of wrist band for weights you have to take it off.

So far so good.

I am a bit worried if the elasticity will give in time, but if it happens I will let you know.
I use it for my gym sport shoes, and they feel great. While running they fill tight, while lifting they do not feel loose and it feels so good to take them off easily.

4.0 out of 5 stars The insert works fine with the base game and the expansion, November 13, 2014
The insert works fine with the base game and the expansion. The material is good and feels solid, the instructions lack a bit a detail but you can manage it.

It would have been nice to see more space for the cards, but you have enough room for everything but not as neat as I would like.

The main problem is that no everything fits on the first try, which can be good and bad. It gives it a better feel once you finish it, but in the process you would have to adjust.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Party Game, February 24, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bang!: The Dice Game (Toy)
Awesome party game where you take the role of a Renegade, Outlaw, Deputy or Sheriff fighting your friends.

The game has roles that determine your alliance, this are secret, although it becomes obvious at a certain point. This determines the who do you want to kill. Besides this, you also have a character which gives you a special power (simple, and some do feel more useful than others) which gives the game some flare. Finally you gun down you opponents in a dice roll (yatzee style) to the death!

The game comes with a 3 player variant but it is a dumb down version... I would not recommend it for a 3 player game at all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Carcassone with a little twist, February 24, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: New World: A Carcassonne (Toy)
This is carcassone (for those that don't have a clue: it is a tile playing game), it is simple but a better mechanic on the farmers (now called hunters i believe). It also makes a little twist on the star position which makes it faster and easier and it has a little mechanic that makes some left behind meeples come back to your hand which can be punishing some times.

Overall - I like it, I usually play this one since it has not been polluted with all the add ons and expansion.

5.0 out of 5 stars So you wanted to feel the rush of the stock market..., February 24, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Speculation (Toy)
Yup, that is right... this is a great stock market game.

The game puts you on the role of a business man looking for investments in the stock marker, but as in real life, you are not the only one. You buy, sell (both, neither, in any order or neither), you speculate on the market movement of the companies in play and try to make a lot of money.

The game is extremely random, since the market movement is determined by all the players and not just you. Even with this, it gives you room to be able to predict some of the movement, and act accordingly. The game can be punishing if you make a wrong call... but life does the same.

Believe me when I say that you will be clinging to your chair as the market movement is revealed, you will scream when your investment gains a huge leap... you will have fun.

WARNING!
Do not play this is you do not like economic games.
Do not play this if you can not tolerate seeing your friends mess up with your plans

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Mode for Two Players, February 24, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you are looking into this product I will assume you have played Carcassonne before.

The game is faster and shorter, this is great for a two player round. There are some modifications to the normal rules but it is really simple to grasp. Two main additions: 1) you build within the "walls of the castle" there fore you area is limited but it makes it a lot more stream lined. 2) there are some bonuses tokens for the first player to reach an specific amount of points (which is good since the scoring varies a little from the main game). Regarding scoring: here you do not score for uncompleted things! Works good so do not get scared.

For new comers; this is Carcassonne at is finniest and made for a 1v1... so if you want the game just for that you can not go wrong with this one. It is simple, fast, fun and any one can play it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Great but not the best, August 30, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'm assuming that you already know how to play the game and you are looking for expansion.

The mechanic is simple in this one, there is only one quest card and a ton of locations. Basically you fight to keep control over the locations and these never leave play (although the they don't contribute threat once you control them). The goal is to control all of the areas in play to win. This leads to a somewhat cool but disappointing scenario.

If you get lucky you can win the scenario pretty fast, or it can turn into a nightmare and loose after a long session. Since every location has its own conditions to be capture and requirements to keep in control; some turn out to spire out of control a give a haradrim fest in front of you, others allow you to clear a faster rout and end the scenario extremely fast.

PROS: Enemies are nice and though; the idea behind this is fun and engaging.
CONS: Way too random for my taste.

Hero: Faramir is really good, he gains strengths equal to the number of enemies in the staging area, so he can be beast at some point.

Deck Cards: There are some useful cards, but nothing that makes this expansion a must have. One honorable mention is a card that gives its wearer the Outland skill.

Advice: There are better expansions out there.

I got this for a party... i think ill have to buy another one.

The plastic is a bit yellowy (which doesn't show on the pictures) and it just looks 100 times worst than in the picture. Plus mine has a plastic mark on the nose that makes matters worse.

3.0 out of 5 stars Simple, fun and educational, June 5, 2013

The game mechanic is extremely simple, which is good. You can play it with anybody and have a good time. You will be able to learn and laugh.

If you don't one which one of the series you should pick, well I have 3 of them (Discoveries, Diversity and the Original one). The all work in the same way, you can mix them if you want, but if you only can pick one do it at random (unless you have a preferred theme) they are all good at what they do.
