4.0 out of 5 stars Great Starter Kit, November 10, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a great setup to get starting with soldering. It has virtually everything you may need to get started. The soldering iron is well made and on par with similar soldering irons. In addition they added a rubber/silicone grip for you hand which is a nice touch. The soldering vacuum pump and desoldering wick both work splendidly at removing solder and will be a life saver to anyone. The inclusion of both help make this kit, especially for the price, well worth the purchase. All three items seam to be of good quality and should hold up well, at least to the demands of this part time hobbyist.

Elenco even included a number of the smaller accessories that are useful in soldering. Included is a tube of solder, an iron stand, a sponge for tip cleaning, and a set of instructions/tips. While this flushes out the kit really well, I would like to also see them included a small thing of rosin flux with the kit. This one addition would made the kit have everything.

My biggest issue is the solder provided is lead free (likely to meet California law). While being lead free is not an outright issue, the blend (99.3% Tin, .7% Copper) is hard to melt and keep molten long enough to work with. I quickly went out and pick up some traditional 60/40 (tin/lead) rosin core solder which works much better.

The second issue is more minor. The iron stand is just a stamped piece of metal which is cut to allow the Y to fold up as the rest. While Elenco did use a heavy gauge blanks to make the stand it still leaves something to be desired. This is not a big deal as many of the entry level irons I have scene cheap out on the stands.

Otherwise the kit is great for someone starting out and would have most everything a beginner would want. If it was not for the solder being rather useless, it would be a five star kit.

For those getting started with soldering keep in mind, soldering is a skill that is best learned through practice. While Elenco provides a sheet on the basics, it is not until you start practicing that you get the feel for things or any good at it. In addition a pair of helping hands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Expected, June 12, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Prior to purchasing this I was using the Logan Mat Cutter #4000 along with a 48 Inch Drywall T-Square. While this worked it had the drawback that the cutter often slipped under the T-Square creating skewed cuts. The Adapt-A-Rule has a groove that coupled with the included rail guides keeps the cutter flush the Adapt-A-Rule. The great part of this product is that the underside includes rubber strips to prevent the Adapt-A-Rule from moving. These strips and some hand pressure is enough to keep the Adapt-A-Rule from sliding and messing up the cut. The fact that I didn't need to pull out the bar clamps to get a straight cut is impressive and makes it worth the price tag.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Update but could be some improvements, January 25, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Previously owning a TI-86 (now discontinued), I must say a number of updates are welcome changes. First the display is a huge help, no longer are you trying to decipher pixulated text, but now have clean easily readable text/display to work from. That being said there are a few minor points that are annoying. For starters I'm not sure how needed/useful the documents function will be, though since I got this more to replace my missing TI-86 then anything else, I'll leave that question for those who are using it in a classroom setting. However this document system carries over into the programs, as such there is no system wide access (unless your working with a library) to any program you wrote. In addition a few changes to the interface means changes to how one programs, and what one can/cannot due in their programs. This may or may not be a big deal depending on your primary use. Otherwise there are just a few small things. Primary, when running calculations, the TI-Nspire series, unlike the previous TI Graphing calculators (such as the TI-86), does not "word warp." As such one is left to use the arrow keys to scroll though the entire equation (when it goes off screen) as oppose to seeing it go onto the next line. That being said the TI-Nsipre CX is still a good calculator and a welcome addition to the TI's line of graphing calculators.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the original, January 25, 2013

This review is from: Firework - Single (MP3 Music)
This clearly illustrates the goal the Salt Lake Pops have. To revitalize interest into the orchestra and orchestra music with the use of modern popular music. [...] This track does not fail that, if anything Firework's never sounded better. The Orchestral backing and beautiful singing only increases the impact of the song and really emphasizes the message of the lyrics.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product but just needs a better execution, January 2, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The primary reason for purchasing this product would be to keep a puzzle together. For this purpose the product is sufficient. The product is applied to the backside of a puzzle and does keep the puzzle together, though there is still some flexibility in the puzzle once everything is said and done. However, it would be nice if the product came with more sheets (to do bigger/more puzzles). In addition there are a few accessories that are not really needed. First the box contains removable tape to flip your puzzle, though this seams too weak to be useful (other reviews have commented on this). I preferred to use two pieces of cardboard/glass (Since I was ultimately going to frame the puzzles I used the frame glass and backing cardboard). Also there are two hanging tabs. These, however, look like the plastic hangers for packaging to go on the hooks for store shelfs. In all honesty I would rather see more sheets and forego the other accessories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Addictively Different, January 2, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This album doesn't clearly fit into any genera or style. However it is because of this that makes the album enjoyable. That being said, the only way to know if you will like it is to listen. Ready or Not is the closest thing to fit into a single genera/style. Check out Hurricane & 5:15 (Available on both the Deluxe and standard versions) as well as We're Dancing and Postcards (Deluxe only). It is also worth price shopping as Amazon had both the Standard and Deluxe versions for the same price when I purchased my copy. In which case the Deluxe version gets you 3 more tracks for the same price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful for storage and protection of filters, April 22, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Was starting to get a few too many filters than what I could store in my camera bag with them still in their cases. This was especially true of a few that came with step down rings (making for a really thick case). As such I went looking for something to hold my filters without the cases. The case is good and well padded. Each filter has its own slot so no filter is unintentionally touching another one. The pack itself is design for multiple sized filters and as such is a little on the big size for the 58MM I use. I would like it a little smaller so it would be big enough to protect the filters but no so big that I have a hard time reading what filter is what. That being said if you are storing filters on the larger size it will work just fine. The pack itself seams well constructed, The cover has stayed on well, and there is a belt loop. If you have (or anticipating having) a large number of filters than you may want something else. This can store five filters just fine (meeting my needs) and if you need to you can screw two of the same size together and put the pair in a slot, if the filters are thin enough you could get away with this. Overall this product works and meets the hobbyist needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect replacement, April 22, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Purchased 2 to replace the lift supports on my '97 Ford Contour. The old ones reached the point where the trunk would close itself (rather quickly) if you didn't open it all the way. Purchased these as there were the cheapest with Amazon Prime shipping. As always, Amazon was great about getting them shipped out quickly. The products themselves came simply packaged, a simple blue/clear plastic sleeve, with instructions on the back.

The instructions on the back cover a wide array of different models/mounts. It was easy enough to figure out how to remove and install the lift supports (Have someone hold the truck up, pry the old retaining clip out, pull out the support from the post, and repeat on the other side; then just line up and push the new support in untill it clicks). It would however be nice to have a few illustrations, as oppose to just the one that was applicable. With that said, installation went well and once installed they worked perfectly. They also were a perfect fit for the OEM ones that I was replacing. All in all worth the money and time to get them installed, especially considering that the trunk tried to clobber me on the head twice.

On a side note, if you're replacing worn out lift support you are going to need someone to hold the trunk open as once the first one is removed there will not be enough support to hold up the trunk. Also the location where the lift supports mount to the car can be a tight fit to remove the old supports retaining clips and push the new support onto the post. It may also help if you have someone who is small, light, and agile as, at least for me it required me to be able to maneuver in the trunk and get in a good position to work. This however is a function of the car design and not of lift support themselves and may vary with different cars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Better idea for Printer Ink, May 21, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
First off this ink tank features windows on the side of the tank so you can visually see the ink. Second the Canon PIXMA MX860 Wireless All-In-One office Printer I use this in uses just about every drop of ink in the tank before saying it needs replacing. Third this is designed only to hold the ink and doesn't feature a printer head (that is installed separately into the printer and doesn't need replacing). As such it features very few components that require recycling contributing to making this at least a bit greener than the ink cartridges on the market and lower cost. In short a great idea by Canon. The addition of getting four ink tanks in one package makes buying ink easier and just adds to the cost savings.
