5.0 out of 5 stars Great to Way to Get a Serving of Vegetables, July 21, 2014
If you are wanting to get more vegetables in your diet, these fusion drinks which combine fruit juices with vegetable juices are a savvy way to do so. This peach mango mixes the juice of sweet potatoes, yellow tomatoes, and yellow carrots with the juice of white grapes, apples, oranges, peaches and mango puree. You really taste the peach-mango flavor with the other subtle flavors as nuances.

It is 100% juice with no ADDED sugar. However, it does include natural fruit sugar, as all juices do, which is part of the fruit juice - 26g sugar in a one cup serving. What I like to do is use about 1/8 cup - which would be about 3.5g of fruit sugar and 20 calories - and put it in a cup of seltzer with ice to make a refreshing and healthy drink. One cup of this fruit-vegetable fusion drink is 120 calories, but you can dilute it with seltzer to give it fizz and less calories for a refreshing, healthy and tasty beverage. It provides 100% of daily vitamin C and 20% vitamin A in one serving.

It's a great concept to mix fruit and vegetable juices in a healthy fusion drink like this which is naturally delicious. Of all the V8fusion drinks, this is one of my favorites. Mango and peach together are so refreshing and rather tropical tasting.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Romp, July 21, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Love the premise of this show. Was looking for a police procedural-mystery series to treadmill to which is fairly light, original, smart with an engaging detective or main character. Like the California setting for this. Simon Baker as Patrick Jane is appealing and fun to watch. Don't like his team as much as him, but maybe they will grow on you. A fun romp if you're looking for something fairly light and appealing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tasty ~ Would Like Less Sugar in It, July 21, 2014
Made eggplant-turkey spaghetti with this sauce tonight. Pretty tasty but found it a tad sweet. There's 10g of sugar in a serving of 1/2 cup. One half cup has 70 calories and 15% of your sodium, vitamin A 10% and Vitamin C 4%. Seems like you could have less sugar and perhaps more nutrition in it. The dish was delicious. Liked it and would buy it again, but will keep exploring other Italian sauces to see if I can find one with less sugar. I thought it was sweeter than it needed to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars When in Rome, July 20, 2014
This review is from: Zen: Vendetta Cabal Ratking (DVD)
If you like to watch mysteries as a kind of travelogue, this Zen series takes you to Rome and the Italian countryside. I like watching it for the scenery alone. But the plots, characters and acting are excellent, too. Aurelio Zen played by Rufus Sewall is a likable detective in the corrupt Italian police force. He, however, has scruples and integrity. How he works with the corrupt system, and keep his job, is one of the delights of the series. The actors are primarily British, but look Italian enough. There's a beautiful love interest for Zen, but the plot and Zen are the focus of the series. Sewell is fun to watch. There's nothing too gory. If you like English mysteries, you should like this little venture to Italy. 4.5 stars

4.0 out of 5 stars A Campy Lark, July 20, 2014
This is a bit of a lark. Love the two primary actors. There is a bit of graphic sexual talk so you will want to watch it after the kids are in bed. I just enjoyed watching the actors ham it up a bit. They look like they are enjoying themselves. If you want something light and campy, you might enjoy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful Insights into Career Counseling, July 20, 2014

I have completed the coursework at NYU for a certificate in career assessment and development and am going to be teaching a course on an overview of career assessments. Found this book to be invaluable in filling in some gaps on assessment and career development. One of the authors of this book, Howard Figler, does't care for assessment except for asking questions, reflective listening etc. I tend to agree with the co-author, Richard Nelson Bolles, who believes assessments are valuable in exploring possibilities which come up in assessments.

I have done assessments with a number of folks assessing values, skills, types, interest, strengths, passions etc. Loved reading the authors' perspectives with their collective 60-70 years in the career counseling field. These assessments are NOT scientific, the authors note. However, I find they can open thought and detect patterns. Often they affirm what clients intuit about themselves and give them confidence to explore something which fascinates them.

This book is divided into nine sections: Goals, History of the Career Field, How to Survive and Prosper as a Career Coach, Tools, Special Problems, For Clients Who Want to Be on Their Own, Values, Spirituality and The Future of the field. Chapters read like articles on topics so there are some gaps. However, what is here I found so valuable and deep. It's not a how-to book although it has some how-to sections. Some of the topics which I found most valuable:

* the 12 most important skills a career counselor uses

* the six objectives of career counseling

* history of ideas and events in career counseling and development

* how to use just one hour of counseling

* spirituality and career counseling

The authors also list online assessments and other books, worksheets and resources. There is not a lot on technology and career development such as LinkedIn. However, Mr. Bolles updates his book WHAT COLOR IS YOUR PARACHUTE every year so there is more in there. This book might be better for counselors-coaches new to career development and assessments. But experienced counselors and coaches might find something useful to glean from these authors' experiences running a career center, writing books and speaking on the topic. Regarding the spirituality section, I found it helpful as some clients do believe in God (many Americans do) and believe God has given them gifts or purpose here. They want to know their faith can be part of their career journey which I respect. 5 stars for me - maybe fewer stars if you wanted something more sequential and more on assessments. It does mention the Holland Code, and has exercises for assessing skills and values. I will be using much of the information in here for my class.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Smoothies, Oatmeal and Baking!, July 19, 2014
On pinterest I kept seeing smoothie recipes which used chia seeds in them. I have a smoothie for breakfast every morning and am always looking for ways to make it healthier. Recipe is: 1/2 banana, one cup frozen berries, 1/2 cup yogurt or kefir and seltzer to cover the fruit. Sometimes I add a handful of spinach or romaine lettuce to amp up the nutrition if I'm not having a salad that day. Have been wanting to try adding chia seeds to get omega-3's in my diet. Since I received this package, have added them every day and love the extra texture and nutrition.

Will also add them to muffins, oatmeal, banana bread - anywhere some extra crunch would add to the recipe. Am delighted with these organic chia seeds. One tablespoon provides 62 calories, 2440 mg omega-3, 708 mg omega-6, 16 percent of daily fiber, and 5% protein. They are sugar free and sodium free. Plan to always keep a bag in the house for smoothies and baking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tasty and Healthy Substitute for Cane Sugar, July 19, 2014
I had never heard of coconut sugar so was delighted to try it and learn it doesn't spike your blood sugar the way cane sugar does. I put some in my iced mocha coffee and liked it. Have missed being able to put sugar on oatmeal - cinnamon is okay but missed the brown sugar. Well, this coconut sugar is the perfect replacement.

I will always have a bag of it in my home for iced mocha coffees, oatmeal and baking needs. This coconut sugar is organic, non-GMO, gluten free etc. It is 16 calories for one Tablespoon and there are approximately 114 tablespoons in this bag. Delighted to know about this healthy substitute for sugar. I will feel less guilty cooking a few sweets for my family.

3.0 out of 5 stars Unnecessary Gore but Great Acting and Pace, July 19, 2014
When DCI James Langton (Ciaran Hinds) takes on rookie DC Anna Travis (Kelly Reilly), he's doing her dead father ( a former colleague) a favor. She can't even wear the right footwear to a muddy crime scene. But soon he finds out that she's got some of her father's smarts about her. She notes things his detective team has missed.

His team is investigating a series of murders, grisly murder scenes (think maggots etc.), which have baffled police. What's best about this series, aside from the two main actors - Hinds and Reilly - is that the investigation is fast paced. If you've ever shouted at your T.V. telling the detectives what to do before they think of it, this time they are as smart as you are.

I'd give this season 1 five stars but I don't like gore. I like the problem solving, the mystery. Didn't think it needed as much gore as was shown. I missed some because I covered my eyes. So, 5 stars or more for acting, dialogue, pace etc. But really didn't care for the violent flashbacks, gross crime scenes etc. So, be warned if they upset you. This is based upon Lynda La Plante's mystery novels. I'm hoping future seasons will be less bloody. Characters were throwing up during the show - the audience felt like it, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Olive Oil, July 18, 2014
If you have switched from cooking with butter to olive oil, this brand works great for that purpose. It has a light taste which is fine for cooking. I saute meats, onions, mushrooms, veggies and cook eggs and pancakes (whole grain, of course) in it.

I also use it with a balsamic vinegar for a salad dressing with some seasoning - figure it's more healthy than most store bought dressings. It's great to toss vegetables in and roast them in the oven. I toss sweet potatoes in it and add cumin, sea salt and pepper. Delicious! I also mix it in a little melted butter to put on popcorn and put it in a beaten egg to dip raw chicken in and then dip in breadcrumbs.

If you're going to dip bread in it, you might want an olive oil with a heavier taste, but for the basics of cooking, roasting and salad dressings, have been very satisfied with this oil.
