5.0 out of 5 stars Lego 8070 Technic Super Car, September 9, 2011
The car is packed with functions all cleverly controlled from a quite compact central gearbox with stick-shift. Each position of the gear selector controls a separate function of the model be it the two doors, lifting the engine cover or the very cleverly hidden rear spoiler. However in terms of an overall set, I felt that the fun was really in the construction (non-numbered bags by the way so be prepared to take over the house as there are a lot of parts).
There are a number of clever uses of the beams & connectors together with build sequences to form abstract shapes that give the car realistic styling especially on the lower side panels of the car - no more square corners! The door opening mechanism is also very clever and really made me smile.
Once built you're left with a car that cost a fair amount but feels like it could have been more for very little additional expense, for example LIGHTS.
Now of course you can add these if you have them and if you're fortunate enough to have a bag of spare motors & parts you can build a second car that is motorized (the yellow one in the photos has two motors, one to control steering and the other for the remaining functions including forward motion together with an IR brick so you can chase the cat with it).
Now, please remember that the car was never advertised as a motorized car so it wouldn't be fair to judge it as one however it does feels like Lego stopped just a little short of the mark on delivering a true masterpiece. Personally I'd have been happier with manually controlled doors via a wheel you turn and a car with motorized steering and drive, I'd have even paid more for it.
But then I firmly believe that the essence of Lego is imagination so if the car was motorized, then I wouldn't have spent a couple of weeks modifying the instructions and building my own version!
I wouldn't advise this set an introduction to the Technic theme however if you have a couple of spare motors, a bag of beams, gears and a couple of days to spare then it forms a fantastic inspirational piece on which to build and improve. Because of that fact alone, it is an excellent set.

5.0 out of 5 stars LEGO Technic Mini Container Truck 8065, September 9, 2011
This set is quite an impressive set, with an intricate attention to detail and a working function. On an Un-Biased view, this set is good because it can function in three ways, as a default, with modifications, or simply for parts. On to the Pros and Cons.
Working function
Able to modify and motorize
Can fit into many themes
Somewhat limited play experience by itself
On a size ratio basis, does not fit in with things like the other Mini
Technic sets

5.0 out of 5 stars Lego 8053 Mobile Crane, September 9, 2011
this is one of the best lego products you could get! its cool and has many functions that you couldnt find on another product.
the motor adds a nice touch and is the same speed as a real crane. the wires are a pain. if you get the motor, i highly recomend puting on the switch.
pros: :) the motor
steers in tight turning circle which is good if you dont have much space
telescoping boom
linear actuater used to raise boom
string functions
you can add motor
very solid
no design flaws
360 twist on crane
1:18 scale
Now, we go to the cons :( only have 5
the outriggers are kind of flimsy
the string cant carry much
the string sometimes gets stuck in the gears next to holder
string can get tangled
wheels rub against outriggers if you twist knob to much
also, two more that doesnt really matter: the cab on the crane doesnt have controls and no universal joints

5.0 out of 5 stars LEGO® TECHNIC® Mobile Crane 8053, September 9, 2011
Lego Technic Mobile Crane
the instructions were very easy to follow and a bit challenging when you make the crane Technic clogs all work together. But are very easy to read. There are 3 instruction booklets and the set is in two different numbered bags. Bags one make the vehicle and bags numbered two make the crane. At the back of book three there are instructions to show how to add power functions.
Building was challenging as you have to make sure that you have followed all of the steps exactly. There are lots of pieces to this set so you have to order all of the pieces. I managed to make this set in 6 hours on a Friday night. So it is a fairly long build.
The Set
The set is amazing. I love the way you can steer the tyres from the back of the vehicle. The four extendible outriggers are also found on the back above the steering clog to allow you to be able to sturdy the crane. The crane is very cool as you can change three gears to make it work. Gear one makes the crane go upwards. The second gear releases the string and on the other side it extends the crane even more outwards. The hook works and the string also works very well. The cranes driver seat actually tips back and the interior in the front of the vehicle is good. The doors at the front of the vehicle both open allowing a driver and a passenger and even a steering wheel is added on the front. The chairs in the front look cool and the way the power functions work on this set make this set the best Technic set that I have ever owned. The set is sturdy and looks amazing on display. This is the set to get if you love Technic Lego and want a challenge.

5.0 out of 5 stars NICE MOTORBIKE!, September 9, 2011
This review is from: LEGO Motorbike 8051 (Toy)
The parts this set comes with are very good: six plates, three pistons, three shocks, two big wheels, two big tires and other parts as well. Lots of gears. However, the best part about this bike is building it. The best building experience I've had in a long time. There is nothing repetetive nor boring, so it's absolutely NOTHING like the build of the 2008 dirt bike. It took me a good 2.5/3 hours to finish it, and I usually build faster than that. The playability this set has to offer once it's completed is also very good. The shocks work beautifully and the engine doesn't slow down the rear wheel much.
Awesome huge wheels
The build really is magnificent
I mean it, seriously
Good playability
Nice overall motorbike look
A tad pricy
OK, lets get to the point: if you like motorbikes, get this without a moments hesitation. If you like a truly magnificent building experience, get it. If you like to display your models, get it.
If you like to play with them, get it. If you want to punish yourself by getting some awful set, don't get it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive Engireening, September 9, 2011
The first thing that I have to say about this model is that it's TINY! In fact, the picture on the box is nearly twice the actual size of the model, so don't be surprised if the finished product looks very small.
As for the build, it was very simple, but I was extremely impressed by the amount of great functions there were. Lego has packed six functions (raising/lowering boom, extending boom, winch, swivelling upper body, outriggers, and steering) into a set with 292 pieces! That's very impressive.
The play experience is quite good, as the model has a number of creative functions. Also, I found that if you remove the upper body (crane and winch housing), it works very well as a flatbed truck! However, as usual, the B-model can't match the fun of the main model, and I didn't keep it for long before rebuilding it into the main model. The one thing that inspired me about the B-model, however, was the steering system, which is quite neat and well worth using in other models.
Overall, this set was a lot of fun. I would highly recommend it to those looking for a good first Technic set, as it can teach you a lot about Technic mechanisms and parts. However, more experienced Technic builders may find it a little too easy, despite its fantastic engineering.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best technic sets!, September 9, 2011
This model is so cool that I don't want to take it apart so I can build the B model! So this review is for the A-model only. On to the pro's and con's...
1.Nice color scheme.
2.The top knob turns the top and back rotors at the same time!
3.Landing gear is great and works really well.
4.Stickers (especially the cockpit ones) are cool looking.
5.Lots of detail!
6.Good play size and also looks good on display!
7.Hook can hold a minifig by the leg and seat is the right size for one!
1. Winch is slow to turn and can be very squeaky.
2.It's hard to tie the thread on the wheel.
3. Quite pricey.
4.No more!
Awesome set and if you can afford it, buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars LEGO Technic Set #8109 Flatbed Truck, September 9, 2011
It was a pretty creative idea for LEGO to come up with a flatbed/tow truck, but I honestly dont think its worth the money. It does come with an m-motor.
It does have a variety of functions, such as the flatbed going up and reaching, or towing another vehicle, but it does not show amazing complexity of gears. The squares used to fit another car (I dont know what their called) open via a transmision of a rubber band to help move the axles. There is also a hook on the flatbed that you can tow a car by hand.
Nice color combination
Power Functions
Many pieces
B-model looks nice
Unique functions
Nice and compact
Not many rare pieces (no linear actuator). The rarest piece would probably be the string or rubber band
The price
Overall, this set has an unique function but fails to wow me, especially because of the price. Besides, for the same price, you can get a MOBILE CRANE!!
