5.0 out of 5 stars A beast of a laptop, September 17, 2015
This laptop is a real power house. Even the most demanding games run on ultra without breaking a sweat. The cooling is excellent too. Even overclocking the GPU and CPU ive never had temps go higher than 80c. The build quality is great, and the laptop is only about 50% thicker than your average laptop. Beautiful display and speakers that don't sound awful, they sound about as good as a large HDTV sounds. Keyboard is great. The only complaint I have is the touchpad, its texture makes two finger scrolling impossible. Battery life is a bit short but that expected, its power hungry.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice design, bad heat treatment., July 18, 2015
They must be running their steel soft. I literally had to resharpen it after every use. Too bad too because the design is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars The pull through that solves common pull through problems., July 11, 2015
The biggest problems with most of those pull thru sharpeners is the angle is 60 degrees inclusive (30 degrees). That's just way too steep for any knife of any kind, even my swords have a 24 degree angle, this solves that. The other issue is some of these sharpeners have a hard time with thick knives, not this one, i can even fit a sword in this thing. I'd say their estimates are off on which angles to use for which knives, pretty much any knife should stay at 20 degrees or below, there's just no reason to go steeper, you just lose cutting ability and you'll notice your knife appears to actually dull faster because you're already starting out with a thick edge. 99% of all pocket knives and kitchen knives will perform excellently between 15-20 degrees, 20 even works great on cleavers that must go through bone.

The trick with these to getting a serviceable edge is LIGHT PRESSURE on the carbides, a heavy hand will leave a nasty wire edge and a bent up edge, you should also pull a minimum of 50 swipes through the fine side, 100 is better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for very dull/damaged knives and reprofiling, July 2, 2015
Cuts extremely fast. Leaves a rough usable edge. Wouldn't use it as a final stone, but if you've got extremely dull knives or need to completely re-profile the edge angle, this is the stone you want.

2.0 out of 5 stars A year's experience with this thing. Buy an android, windows, or ipad tablet unless you just want amazon books, vids, and music., June 2, 2015
Honestly, unless you're looking for a device that's buddy buddy with amazon's kindle books, music, and video this thing kinda sucks for an android tablet. From a hardware perspective it's okay, but amazon's app store leaves little choice and most of the apps are useless and even out-dated. Amazon's keyboard stinks, it's slow and constantly collapses in the middle of typing, often forcing me to re-open the app. The silk browser is just as midbendingly awful. It too is slow, only let's you open 8 tabs, doesn't function with plugins etc, and of course, amazon's app store doesn't even have firefox or chrome. The notifications suck, the only way you know you have a notification is by going and rolling down the top bar. The only way i even got by using this thing was when it was rooted, but now that is impossible because amazon's ADB is incompatible with windows 8, and a forced update undid my root.

I'll give it 2 stars for being a kindle, it does that just fine, but so does the paper white. This thing just makes a horrible tablet, which i assume is amazon's intention (competing with google's android tablets and apples ipads).

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect edc knife, January 19, 2015
It's rather difficult to find anything I don't like about this knife, and I'm a hard critic on knives. From the handle shape, to the blade shape to the edge geometry to the speed safe everything seems very well thought out. The recurve is just enough to make slicing a breeze, but not enough to make sharpening or push cutting a pain in the butt. The blade and edge geometry is very thin and it cuts effortlessly. S30v steel means the edge stays sharp for a very long time. If you use a knife at work for things like cardboard, you will appreciate that the blade will remain sharp after lots and lots of cuts, even after the screaming sharp edge has worn away the knife maintains a very serviceable edge for what seems like forever. Be warned this knife will not easily be resharpened on an Arkansas or India stone. You need waterstones, diamond, ceramic or silicon carbide. Regular green or white compound will not work for stropping. It too hard and abrasion resistant.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great knife with few complaints., January 19, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The handle is awesome. It's a folding knife that feels like a fixed blade. Lock is sturdy, edge geometry is decent. The only two issues I have is the opening is kinda stiff, making it a little bit difficult to open one handed, and the very back part of the cutting edge (bout two millimeters) was left unsharpened, this causes the blade to sometimes snag when utilizing the whole blade if your not careful. The blade is also a bit thick for a folding knife, but considering this knifes purpose (heavy duty) this was expected.

2.0 out of 5 stars Several serious problems, January 19, 2015
This knife fails at its most important task...cutting. For starters, the edge geometry is pretty bad. Both the primary and edge bevels are way too obtuse. Secondly, the steel is so soft I'd have a better time maintaining an edge on a knife made out of butter. Edge retention is horrible. My soft stainless kitchen knives take and hold better edges. This thing will literally go from paper cutting sharp to dull after a couple of cuts into any material.

The overall shape and feel of the knife is decent, the sheaths not great but there isn't anything particularly bad about it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well built battle worthy sword but....., August 21, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The blade is made of 1055 spring steel, while this actually isn't a bad choice for a sword, it isn't authentic nor does it do the price tag justice. I have used many machetes made from 1055 spring steel, you just will not break it, nor bend it, even beating the crap out of it with gross abuse, and it definitely holds a very sharp edge. Real katanas however are built using layered steel, hard on the edge and soft on the blade and spine to make it hard to break. From a functional standpoint, modern steels make this entirely unneccesary, we have engineered steels that are both hard and resilient and can take a beating without breaking, but many enthusiasts still prefer the traditional san mai style blades. Cold steel is entirely capable of doing this, and has done with many knives. SK-5 sandwhiched between 1055 would have been excellent.

Two more gripes....the scabbard is poorly made. Many places on mine the laquered finish has chipped off and the metal end piece fell off. The blade did not come razor sharp. No excuse for this one. I should not have to sharpen a combat ready sword with this price point.

Lastly, considering the lower price point of materials, there is no reason this thing isn't mirror finished at least on the unground part.

As a functional weapon that will hold up to real use, it gets 5 stars.
For the price, it's lacking several cosmetic attributes.
