5.0 out of 5 stars Don't let jaded, pessimistic reviews turn you away from a good book., February 27, 2012
The negative reviews on this book seem over dramatic and misguided. First things first. I'm not a blizzard fan boy, nor a Diablo Universe fan boy by any stretch. I'm just a guy who has played Diablo I and II and enjoy the tone of the Diablo games and universe. I'm looking forward to Diablo III and I bought this book hoping to get a little insight into what's to come and maybe some things I've missed.

I've read reviews on this book saying it doesn't read well, or it seems poorly written. Well, this book isn't a novel and it is not intended to read as one. This book is called "The Book of Cain" because it's meant to read like a journal of sorts, some entry's are written well like Cain had the time to gather his thoughts and other entry's which may appear poorly written are actually probably Cain's quick thoughts he jotted down. This is evident throughout the book with side notes and scribbles where he corrected himself or had after thoughts.

This book contains great stories, back story, history, explanations and some fantastic artwork from the Diablo universe. The cover itself is indented with grooves or pressed in a certain way that the lines of the artwork are 3D. The side of the pages are perforated to make it seem like torn parchment. I'll give you the hard printed bar-code was a bit of a drag but it's not that big of deal. The Diablo III banner at the lower third of the cover is a removable sleeve as well.

I'd also like to point out that at the time of this review the price is currently $21 and change, which is about 15.00 less than the suggested retail on the book itself so in all actuality its a great buy for the price for any Diablo fan.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice but not as nice as the picture., January 19, 2009
I'll keep this brief. It looks much nicer from the picture. The thing is about half the size of the picture. It was bent and needed to be straightened out. Other than that, its a nice piece and was a decent price.
