I have read extensively about this era and regime and there is always new information to be found. And there was plenty of it here. There were a lot more incidents and people mentioned here to put the entire puzzle (and that's one of the things this regime was)together.
Make no mistake about it. I do not and never will minimize the the appalling criminality of the Nazi scheme of things but it does pale in the face of the enormity of the crimes of the Lenin/Stalin period and beyond up to the jackass Kruschev and his spooky descendant Breznhev.
There simply is not enough said about this gang of mass murderers, thieves and perverts (Yehzov a classic example) and people should be made aware of them. It was this government (more accurately criminal organization) that ultimately set the wheels in motion for the later communist subjugation of Eastern Europe, the communist
takeover of China, the Viet Nam war and the Cuban missile crisis and Krushevs Berlin Wall, etcetera.
If one wants to know what real scum are all about then you cannot pass this reading up.

If you are looking for action and adventure, this is not it. If you are looking for an excellent, accurate no-nonsense docudrama then this is the ticket. A very valuable educational film regarding the Third Reich. Excellent performances.

For what was supposed to be a low budget movie, this makes for excellent viewing. This was actually filmed in an older area of Toronto and even the house it was filmed in was original. You cannot match the atmosphere any better.
Excellent period authenticity with performances by all to match.
The plot, incidentally, is not far fetched. Situations such as this one did in fact occur on a regular basis back then and from what I understand this movie is actually based on a true incident.
Great entertainment!

A dandy movie, really. Now I know Mickey Rooney is not widely known for drama but he did do them, and although he's no James Garfield in this film he's no amateur neither.
You wouldn't think so but this movie should appeal to old car enthusiasts. The auto dealership where a certain amount of this takes place had to have been a Studebaker dealership as the vehicles in the lot are mostly Studebakers and in one scene Mickey Rooney is talking to his girlfriend and there are 2 brand new 1950 Studebaker trucks behind him. Also, the lawyer has a very nice 1950 Packard sedan.
If you are into old cars, old street scenes or just plain old movie nostalgia then you cannot and will not go wrong with this one.

A great movie, filmed in Delisle Saskatchewan. I knew a man that had worked in that town in the early 60's and had seen this movie and said that was EXACTLY what it was like there. In fact, when I saw this movie when it was first released I was sold on convertibles and have owned them ever since. If you look up Delisle Sask. on the internet today you will see a photo of the main street with the bar and there aren't too many changes.
This is a hard to get movie for whatever reason but well worth the effort in acquiring it.

An amazing revue into absolute power corrupting absolutely and one despot taking full advantage of period paranoia.
Documentary can be slow but is still an amazing glimpse into and amazing period of American History and well worth seeing.

Every bit as good as Harvest Of Shame and a real eye opener to the fact that the conditions that existed at the time Harvest Of Shame was filmed have not really changed that much.

I waited for years for an opportunity to see this and I can honestly say it was worth the wait.
This is a fantastic record of history, albeit a shamefull one, but still something to be seen.
After seeing this documentary one wonders what ever became of these people. It would be interesting to see.
I cannot recommend highly enough viewing this.

A fantastic movie and great lesson in History even if some of the facts are altered by Hollywood.'
About as close to factual as you can get and far superior to "Public Enemies" which is simply junk compared to this.
Warren Oates was perfect for the part.
