5.0 out of 5 stars The Best One Yet, November 25, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Grant Stevens and Team Alpha Tango back in action in this fast-paced adventure that starts out on a lonely stretch of Maryland highway with the brutal theft of Top Secret US military weapons. Stevens and his trusted right hand Joe Adler are called upon to find out who masterminded this audacious theft and, if possible, retrieve the stolen property. Sounds reasonable in the beginning but as the Team assembles to go after the culprits they are dealt one joker after another and their carefully thought out plans are rendered almost useless. What complicates the mission even further is the overwhelming presence of a "sleeper" Soviet agent named "Antares" that has no option but to see the weapons safely into Mother Russia. On the ground, in the air and at sea, this new mission is taxing Team Alpha Tango to the limit. Written in an quick pulse-pounding narrative that puts you right in the fray with Stevens and Adler, this story is sure to please. Fair warning though, there are plenty of surprises and plot twists to keep you guessing right up until the final page. Recommended reading for those just discovering Grant Stevens and mandatory reading for Team Alpha Tango fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars New direction for Grant Stevens, June 1, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
While most books in this genre that feature returning characters seem overdrawn and formulaic, here we have a departure from the norm. After a stellar Navy career and a long list of close shaves and last-minute heroics, retired Captain Grant Stevens finds himself at a crossroads in life, both missing the action of his former SEAL days and at the same time dreading the bitter memories of lost friends and personal physical sacrifices. From out of the blue comes an offer he cannot refuse and it is sanctioned from the top of the government food chain. Grant is tasked to form a secret, privately-funded special operations team that can go where no one else dares venture. Reuniting with his sidekick Joe Adler, discover how Grant puts together his team and how they are dropped into Communist China on a dangerous rescue mission. Filled with behind enemy lines action and more than enough plot twists, this departure for Stevens is an entertaining read and the story sends him into mortal danger once again. With an interesting cast of new characters and a splash of faces from his previous adventures, this Shanghai Mission will satisfy readers of the previous five Black Ops books.

Delve into this "Last Op" and find the answers and discover how Grant Stevens is pushed toward critical decisions he is reluctant to make. Exciting read in this fifth book of the series.

Jamie Fredric does it again! Navy SEAL Grant Stevens finds himself waist-deep in alligators once again as he attempts to rescue five Vietnam POWs from the Russians. Could these be the same men he failed to get out of captivity five years earlier? With a supporting cast of familiar names and help from old friends, Stevens puts his life literally on the line for his country and at one point must face his own personal demons as he wonders if it's time to "hang 'em up" and retire. Find out what goes on behind the Iron Curtain in this taught, action-packed Cold War adventure, a tale that will have you taking off your hat and snapping to attention at the end. 5.0 out of 5 stars Explosive action from Grant Stevens, February 19, 2012

Want your military action to come at you fast and furious? This is the book for you. Follow Grant Stevens into action once again as he assembles his SEAL team for a rescue mission on the island of Sicily. This time the enemy is not the Soviets or the East Germans, but a renegade Mafioso group that has taken over a AFN compound on the island. When Grant discovers that his long-time friend and fellow combatant Joe Adler is among the hostages taken by the heavily armed Mafia band, he pulls out all the stops to get his mission launched. Set against the backdrop of an erupting volcano, firefights with the enemy, daring infiltration techniques, and a stunning conclusion, this story will leave you wanting more. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars High-Tech Murder, Anyone?, January 20, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
War veteran Will Doyle, recently evicted from his residence, is invited to join the Global Crime Prevention Unit at the request of his sister Chloe. First he has to pass a few tests meant to gauge his mettle, his observational skills, his investigative chops, and his courage under fire. Since the GCPU is staffed and operated by a quartet of strong, beautiful women, his work is cut out for him.

Combining futuristic "I gotta get me one of these" electronic gadgets with sophisticated social media savvy, the GCPU find themselves hot on the trail of a sadistic electronic killer, one who murders people at their computers after they post one-star reviews of certain books. As an author myself, one part of me is rooting for the bad guys in this one.

Filled with exciting action in London, Ibiza and New York, we get to follow the GCPU as they look high and low for the master criminal terrorizing the internet. . . and shudder when they have to wear rubber gloves when they're at their keyboards. Fun read, recommended.

The body count escalates in a hurry and Essie is almost overwhelmed with the workload. Coming to her aid is a cast of detectives, family members and government officials eager to stop the carnage. At the crux of the adventure is the mysterious alien artifacts that seem to be at the center of the killings. And, where there are alien artifacts, can a trio of mysterious aliens be far behind?

Good read, quick pace with enough descriptive language to put you right into the heart of the investigations by this intrepid planetary cop. Recommended.

Gloria Galloway has constructed an intriguing cast of characters and a series of paranormal events that take the detective/crime genre to a whole new level. Detective Tony Camarelli and his partner Julia Reynolds are taking a break from a routine stake out when Julia is suddenly killed. In the midst of his grief Tony realizes that Jules (Julia) is still with him, even after her death. The quirky partnership grows and Jules even helps him track a demented serial killer through the streets and alleyways of Sacramento -- their pursuit of the killer fraught with excitement and danger only Tony and Jules can see, sometimes through the veil of the unearthly alliance they have forged. 5.0 out of 5 stars Saddle up for a great read., December 22, 2011

This review is from: Maggie's Fall (Kindle Edition)
R. Lynn Wilson takes us on a journey. The ride is bumpy, the scenery is memorable, and those we meet along the way are unforgettable. Maggie has problems: how will she manage to save her horse ranch, deal with her feelings for the men in her life, care for her adolescent son -- and remain upright in the saddle? The rich heritage of life in West Texas and the foibles of the human condition make this story easy to read, and the well-defined characters are equally easy to identify with. The strength of this story centers around the diverse and carefully interwoven lives of the people and animals surrounding Maggie and the denouement will leave you wanting to find out who's left standing after Maggie's fall. Recommended reading.
