5.0 out of 5 stars Well told, insightful, transforming, July 9, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Linda Joy bravely brings the reader into her little girl heart and mind as she manages to not only survive, but break the cycle of abuse in her family. We are with her from the very start of her deeply moving story, routing for her and hoping her mother, or grandmother---someone!--will reach out to her with love. She takes us on her journey of abuse and healing and forgiveness with uncompromising truth. It is a revealing, introspective work that holds the spark of hope for victims of abuse. On top of that, Linda Joy is a gifted storyteller who makes you want to turn each page.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Read, October 26, 2009
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Living Room: A Novel (Paperback)
Rachel Sherman has written an intriguing study of three generations of women that instantly grabs the reader and won't let go. I found myself thinking about these characters long after I read the final chapter. Living Room offers unique insights into the nature of mental illness, aging and adolescent angst without being either morbid or sentimental. There were parts where I laughed out loud, and others where I nearly cried for these women. If you are looking for a book to capture you, Living Room is it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and fascinating --and it just may work!, October 6, 2009
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Rituals and magic are certainly in order in today's economy, so I read Patricia Sheehy's book with great interest. I was captivated by the first-hand accounts in the book of how people were able to bring money to their doorstep through the power of their thoughts or by practicing a certain ritual. The legacy of attracting wealth into our lives that Patricia so deftly showcases is fascinating stuff that's fun to read and fun to try. Buy it for yourself, and give one to a friend!

5.0 out of 5 stars A thought provoking page turner., July 19, 2007
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Field of Destiny (Paperback)
Sheehy has created characters that stay with you and a plot that keeps you turning pages. Even as we get entangled in the protagonist's earthly struggle with her destiny, we are forced to think about the big questions. Are we destined for our future? Do we make our own choices? Is our path the one we are meant to take in this life? The beauty of this work is that while it poses these universal quandries, it emerses you in a fictional world that you are hesitant to leave. A great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Real, romantic, metaphysical--"can't put it down" book, January 4, 2005
This review is from: Veil of Illusion (Paperback)
If you are looking for an extremely enjoyable read, with true characters, romance and a touch of the metaphysical--you will love Veil of Illusion. The people in this book are so real you want to go out for coffee with them. The twist of plot is enticing and surprising. You won't put this down until you read the last page.
