2.0 out of 5 stars Buggy, laggy, overpriced. Very good BW module, December 2, 2014
Good:
Browser as fast as they say, even with RAW dng and rw2 files. Excellent BW module (both converter and interface) - valuable addition to my NIK and Topaz Labs b&w converters. Looks like BW was written by a hi-end team!

Bad:
Clunky interface, functions several clicks away. Enhance uses +/- buttons instead of calibrated sliders, you never know where you are standing. Portraiture is a nightmare - lousy face recognition, laggy/clunky manual setup and refining. Doesn't recognize profiles. No easy way to reduce red blood vessels in the eyes. A lot of manual labor, takes the same time with better results in Photoshop.

Ugly:
Even with one file the Suite 9.0 constantly crushes in Win7 Ultra 64 w/o any recovery options for lost work (my comp runs Photoshop, CaptureOne, DXO LAbs raw converters + several viewers on multiple files at the same time w/o problems, so this not for the lack of power) Seems more stable as PS plugin, not 100% sure. Just released v9.0.1 might have improved stability. Hugely overpriced. Look elswhere if you need all in one solution.

3.0 out of 5 stars Neither there, nor here, September 27, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
To me the Mini is on-the-go/travel tablet with excellent portability, long battery life and unlocked 4G connectivity.

While protection from impact, screen scratches and better moisture resistance has an added value, I don't see a point in protecting the unbreakable metal back of a tablet that will be outdated in 2-3 years with a rather thick/rigid /heavy sheet of polycarbonate. Forget about carrying it your Mini in your jeans pocket...

The side protection is a bit thin and not very shock absorbing. On a positive note it helps to hold now heavy tablet + adds light weather protection. Hardly makes the back less slippery on hard surfaces.

If you do need protection, get NUUD Lifeproof (Staples has them regularly on sale for 25) and/or some LCD armor, otherwise stick with slimmer/lighter silicon slip-ons.

Not for peole with active life style, m.b. for in-house use with kids.

2.0 out of 5 stars All looks, hardly functional, September 23, 2014
Total disappointment, the construction is wrong. Have been trying to give it away to friends, no one wants it.
1. The belt is too stiff and wide, very uncomfortable, the bag doesn't stay on your waist and moves around a lot. Weak buckles.
2. Extra loops/belts on the pack make of VERY thick and stiff. Unless you are planning to carry gold bullions it only adds weight.
3. Cross section is square, the center of gravity is not close to your body. If you carry smth heavy, it pulls the pack out. If you stuff it with smth light, you dont need all these extra reinforcements.
4. Someone already commented on belt loops. They put 3 layers of them including 4 D-rings, none is very functional.
5. The material gets very stiff around 30oF

Can't comment on waterproofing, looks like it is. Strong chemical smell that doesn't go away.

I did not my bag from Amazon or LedChoice.

3.0 out of 5 stars Would have been a great bug but for the awful smell..., September 20, 2014
I like the size and design (see other reviews). The bag is thickly padded (about 1/4" adn rather dense material) that could be a good thing, if you carry smth fragile or with sharp edges, or bad, if you have to carry an extra weight bushwalking or cheking it at the airport. No complains about the fabric, zippers and stitching.

-1 star. The shoulder strap is well designed with strong metal clips. D-rings are not very thick and made of ABC or similar plastic. Won't take long for the metal clips to chew throgh the plastic rings. Put metal rings, if you are planning to carry it loaded on the shoulder.

-1 star. The bag STINKS like a pile of mothballs!!! The smell did not go away after 2 days outside under the sun. Was planning to use it for buguots and 2-3 days trave bag. Not anymore.

Got it from Woot for $45 shipped. Would have returned because of the smell but unfortunately they don't accept returns...

4.0 out of 5 stars Problems with going out of sleep mode on the NX30, September 8, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
For what it is (specs, size, price) the lens is a milestone. One has to be reasonable, do not expect the sharpness of the best Olympus Zuiko F2.0 zooms or MTF primes Olympus 75mm F1.8 and Panasonic 42.5mm F1.2 lenses out of it. Wide open it does provide a good background with separation with good to very good sharpness.

Tested on the NX-30 with the latest firmware in M-mode. In many cases after going out of sleep mode (single shot mode) the lens refuses to focus. Had to turn the camera off-on to make it operational.

Not sure, if it's software or hardware issues - my copy of the NX-30 had some unexplained lockups (see my review.

Not a real con: Feels a bit plasticky and slippery. It may be subjective but plastic Sigma lenses with matte finish appeared to be more solidly built.

I hope the above ussue was a fluke and won't happen on the new non-Android NX-1 body.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but with strange lockups, September 8, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Was looking for a mirrorless APS-C with a fully articulating LCD. Tried a smaller sensor Samsung TL500 before and was amazed by the IQ considering the sensor size and how clean you can post-processed somewhat big out of camera JPEGs and RAWs. Would have kept it, if not for long write time (makes it unoperational) and delayed focusing in lower light (it did get a perfect focus in the end but due to the unpredictable lag you never knew what exactly you were getting in the frame).

I had my doubts about the NX30 but hoped that its advantages would overweight its shortcomings. Not going to repeat other reviewers. Feels OK to me, not slippery, not heavy, buttons not sticky. Not pro but not bad for the price. Tested with 16-50mm f2-2.8 lens in M-mode and updated firmware:

Image quality OK but nothing special compared to Pentax K5, Panasonic GX7 and even TL500. RAW processed with DXO.

Included Lightroom 5 sets you off for $100, if you are using Adobe Cloud or a 3rd party (DXO). Was not a bad idea before Adobe switched to subscription. Should have unbundled and given an option to buy LR5 with a discount.

Focusing rate is decent but nothing special. A it bit od hunting in lower light.

Main cons - strange lockups:
In continuous mode in many cases the camera keeps shooting UNTILL THE СARD IS FULL even after the shutter button is released. Doesn't respond to controls untill you remove the battery.
After going out of sleep mode (single shot mode) the lens refuses to focus. Had to turn the camera off-on to make it operational.
Not sure, if it's software or hardware issues.

Good news, due to upcoming release of NX1 the kit sells for $599 with a coupon code SAMSUNGSUM at checkout, free 2 days shipping and 4% Adorama rewards, expires 09/27 @Adorama

Dom, v kotorom....

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely breathtaking!, April 7, 2014
This review is from: Dom, v kotorom.... (Hardcover)
The book is VERY thick and I mean THICK but once open, it just draws you in and you simply can't put it down. I don't think I've ever read anything like that. Totally unpredictable plot, narration and style. Kinda reminiscent of Dostoevski, Bulgakov and "middle period" brothers Strugatski. Strongly recommend.

Never head about the author, it seems to be her first book. Quite an entrance into a big literature...

5.0 out of 5 stars The best shoulder camera bag, February 25, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I do a lot of walking and have several camera bags, sling bags and backpacks. This one is the best:
- quality/durability
- light weight for what it is (ample padding, multiple compartments, metal fasteners etc)
- extremely well thought, so far couldn't find any fault (all my other bags have some)
- comfortable on your shoulder and your hip, stays where you put it w/o swinging
- highly configurable
- the roomiest fancy pack that is easy to carry and
- excellent weight distribution no matter what you stuck in it

5.0 out of 5 stars Good batteries for a bargain price, February 25, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've used Halcyon batteries with my other cameras without any problems. Bought these for the new Lumix GX7, works as good as the original, if not better. Haven't done side-by-side. For the price this 2-pack is no brainer. The GX7 uses a lot of power, the original and these two last for a day of normal shooting plus some. No problems with the seller

Simply blows your mind. Out of hundreds different takes this one is te most original. Kinda "St. James Infirmary" rendition of the common Disney version...
