Dom, v kotorom...
Dom, v kotorom...
by Mariam Petrosi︠a︡n
Edition: Hardcover
3 used & new from $37.50

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely breathtaking!, April 7, 2014
This review is from: Dom, v kotorom... (Hardcover)
The book is VERY thick and I mean THICK but once open, it just draws you in and you simply can't put it down. I don't think I've ever read anything like that. Totally unpredictable plot, narration and style. Kinda reminiscent of Dostoevski, Bulgakov and "middle period" brothers Strugatski. Strongly recommend.

Never head about the author, it seems to be her first book. Quite an entrance into a big literature...

5.0 out of 5 stars The best shoulder camera bag, February 25, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I do a lot of walking and have several camera bags, sling bags and backpacks. This one is the best:
- quality/durability
- light weight for what it is (ample padding, multiple compartments, metal fasteners etc)
- extremely well thought, so far couldn't find any fault (all my other bags have some)
- comfortable on your shoulder and your hip, stays where you put it w/o swinging
- highly configurable
- the roomiest fancy pack that is easy to carry and
- excellent weight distribution no matter what you stuck in it

5.0 out of 5 stars Good batteries for a bargain price, February 25, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've used Halcyon batteries with my other cameras without any problems. Bought these for the new Lumix GX7, works as good as the original, if not better. Haven't done side-by-side. For the price this 2-pack is no brainer. The GX7 uses a lot of power, the original and these two last for a day of normal shooting plus some. No problems with the seller

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely unbelivable, December 8, 2013

Simply blows your mind. Out of hundreds different takes this one is te most original. Kinda "St. James Infirmary" rendition of the common Disney version...

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, best high ISO recovery on the market, December 8, 2013
Pros:
One of the industry best noise reduction (2 options: faster Normal and slower Prime. The latter is slower by design, it processes much more pixels than the competitors to provide more realistic image), produces clean almost HDR looking images. Keep in mind that after using Prime it shows a lower quality "preview" in the main window. You need to click a buttonon the upper bar to see full quality image [...]
Second outside program besides Lightroom 5.3RC that can convert RAW files from Lumix GX-7 (v9.1).
Edited files can be saved on HD or opened ddirectly in other editors (Photoshop, Lightroom etc) in one click.
Regular updates including latest cameras/lenses.
Best Pentax K3 files processing compared to other converters

Cons:
On a slow side (6 core AMD + 8G RAM, no lag with PS5, LR4, NIK, Capture One, Topaz Suite. After 3 months got used to it and using it more than other converters.
For some reason after hitting UNDO goes into slowish re-calculations instead of jumping right to the original file.
Slider have "short throw", too jumpy compared to the above programs.
Some sliders commmon in other RAW converters are missing. On a positive side the "smart" highlight, shadows recovery and contrast panels are indeed smart and do a lot of work for you automatically correcting color shift etc. You dont have as detailed control as in Topaz deNoise but it saves you a lot of time and manual labor.

For $99 opening on sale a real bang for bucks. And unlike with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom you are not giving your money away, you own the product

5.0 out of 5 stars they just work, August 17, 2013

I haven't done any side by side comparison with the original battery but in everyday use there is no visible difference in battery life. Worth the price, fast shipment

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good software for a laughable $20, July 18, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
So far nothing to complain, bought as a laptop alternative to my normally used Photoshop/LightRoom/PhaseOne/NIK packages run on desctop. Runs on 64-bit Win7 w/o a hitch. Fast, very intuitive user interface.

No program is perfect, there will be always someone complaining on the web. Realistically, for over 50% this will be more than enough to get started w/o a steep learning curve. You can also get free or paid (Topaz Lab, NIK) plugins that essentially bring the PS functionality w/o getting involved with Adobe CC long term issues.

Donload the demo and give it a try. I've tried dozens of photoeditors and based on the combination of features, ease of use, low demand for computer resources/speed and price this one sits very close to the top.

2.0 out of 5 stars Word of warning - extremely slow delivery!!! The lens itself is wonderful, July 3, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've tried this lens in a store and borrowed from a friend - considering the size difference with its APS-C analog 70-200mm f 2.8 this is an absolutely amazing lens that does not extends. The only negative besides the price that according some reviews it is prone to flare more than one would expect in this price range.

The rating reflects my customer experience, not the lens. I ordered it through Amazon on June 7 from TREASURE COVE PIRATES (Japan) who promised fast Express Mail International® shipment with tracking number. Don't be fooled by this Express!!! They shipped it out fast, but once I placed the order I received email from amazon that the delivery date is July 24 - almost 2 months! According to the tracking # it's been sitting in Customs in Chicago since June 10 w/o any progress. I can't blame the merchant who has no control over US customs but this long delivery must've been clearly shown at Amazon site BEFORE and NOT AFTER placing the order. My previous order from PanAm was delivered in 5 days.

Once again, please do not send me angry messages telling how wonderful is the lens. 2 stars is the only way to warn potential customers fooled by "Express" service. At the moment Amazon does not allow me to rate the merchant, since everything is within the promised timeline.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprizingly good quality for a ridiculous price, July 1, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I was looking for inexpensive CPL for Pentax Q with 02 kit lens. About a year ago I went through several known brands CPLs for my DSLR and it took a while to get a decent (not perfect) w/o paying >$100.

These Vivitars are made of GLASS and set in a black METAL with very good thread that feels like brass (not sure it's brass but the quality is there). In additions, they can be stacked, although some people complain that the tread on the front can cause vignetting. The polarizer really removes reflections, unlike the filters I've tried before that hardly had any effect.

Two minor cons:
1. The pouch could've been 1/2 smaller, a lot of real estate for 3 tiny circles. Presumably they use "one size fits all".
2. Each filter is packed in a cellophane bag x3-times bigger that the filter with a sticky flap. The last thing one wants is accidentally put it on the optical surface.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not all-in-one. Very capable P&S with some quirks, June 23, 2013
Not going to repeat the good, my main attraction over LX7 was the flip screen. More visible in direct sunlight (you can't read the settings because of VERY SMALL and ODDLY SHAPED font but you can more or less frame) + I like to shoot at odd angles. The camera is fun if you can live with its quirks:

1. The gut wrenching "Remove the cap" message. The worst part you can't go the MENU to preset the camera for shooting w/o removing the cap - plainly stupid.
2. "Help" when changing the modes. Both a terrible slow down!
3. Hoped they gave an option of disabling them in the new firmware. Nope + Samsung DOES NOT LIST what they have changed. You update "as is" ???
4. Focusing is rater fast writing speed is not terrible (Sony SD 94Mb/s 32GB card) but on slowish side in RAW+super fine JPEG
5. Zooming IS SLOW, especially for only x3 zoom. The lever is not very grippy when needed but can be accidentally move when not needed.
6. No program-shift: in P-mode, you can't change A or S in it???
7. Very good fill-in flash, pics look very natural but you have to pop-up the flash to change its setting. Pressing the dedicated flash button w/o opening the flash doesn't do anything!!!
8. It does Hi-speed video (albeit shorter and lower res clips), if you set up continuous shooting at 3-5-10fps on the left dial, movie mode on the mode dial and hit the red record button. 10fps is limited to 1min but being able to switch between 60-120-240-480 via a physical dial is very handy. The main problem - only60p allows to zoom during recording.
With the latest firmware IS during video recording works fine. I haven't touched a camcorder in 12 years and got a very decent closeup following a dog at ~1ft holding the camera in stretched arms below my waist. Hopefully this is not an issue.
9. Huge RAW files.

Despite all this the camera is fun, especially for $250 on sale. If you are looking for all-in-one, check out the competitors: Lumix LX7, G3, GX1, Sony RX100, NEX, Olympus EP and PL series etc, the list is getting bigger and cheaper with every hour
